Thank you for sharing your home with us. It was a nice retreat, especially on the days when the weather didn't "cooperate" The wineries, delis and bakeries in the neighboring towns were very nice. The General Store in Whitehall is a "must see" if you are in town.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

The view, the gentle breeze, the soothing rhythm of the waves, the squeeking sand beneath our feet, not to mention the out-of-this-world accomodations. What a fabulous way to spend my 47th birthday. It was so refreshing to get away from the busy-ness of life and relax in such a beautiful setting. The sunset was phenominal. "Girls weekend out" was a perfect way to wrap up the summer. Lipka's was a unique dining experience and we had fun shopping at Hokey Pokey's and Posh. What a great getaway! THANK YOU!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

It was very rewarding to see the excitement on everyone's face as they entered Big Blu for the first time. The handful of pictures on the site don't do this beautiful home justice. The home is modern, spacious and comfortable. There's plenty of space for multiple couples with kids. We have family in the area, so the beaches and attractions are well known to us, but if it is your first time check out Mac Woods Dune Rides or rent your own Jeep in Silver Lake. Ride the White River (no white water) in canoes from Happy Mohawk. And be sure to walk to beautiful Lake Michigan beach. Fair warning about the location of the beach: there are 70+ steps from the house to the big lake (as the locals call it). If you left your sunglasses in the master suite that's another 30 steps to the top of the house. Older guests might need to make use of the benches on the mid-point landing. Still, the sunsets are so beautiful, you won't mind the cardio workout. The positive of all those steps? Local zoning has everyone's home up in the tree line and the beach free of almost any visible homes. It's easy to imagine the Michigan of Hemingway while standing on the beach at Big Blu with nothing but surf, sand and sea grass in sight. On the final morning, no one wanted to go home and home is beachside in Southern California.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
Owner response: Thanks Daniel...please come back and visit Blu again!

We stayed at big blu and had a wonderful time. It is perfect for a large gathering of family and or friends looking for a quiet get away. It is 10 minutes from Montangue but if you don't mind cooking while on vacation, it is perfect location with the Lake Michigan beach out the back door. I love this place as we could easily walk to the beach whether for a short stroll in morning, swimming during the day or a bon fire at night. It is so nice to be on vacation with the beach out the back door versus driving to the beach. There are a quite a few steps to the beach which for older people maybe a deterrant, but if you don't mind the stairs, it is perfect. Great location for watching sunsets. The view of the stars were amazing. While we did not have perfect weather, we kept busy during the week with horseback riding, Michigan Adventure Park, evening golf for $20 at The Old Channel course. We saw many groups of peacocks, turkeys and deer during the week. The town of Montague and White Lake were cool to explore also checking out the Light House. We had dinner at the Old Channel Inn after golf which was cool and tried out the Dog N Sudz in town. The awesome house is only 5 years old and was like brand new. No money was spared in building this beach house. The house had 3 master bedrooms with very nice attached baths which were great with an additional 2 bedrooms for the kids. The top floor master suite was like a pen house within a hotel. We just chilled out, cooked, swam, played cards on the deck and had bonfires on the beach and had a wonderful week. Wouldn't hesitate to go back with a larger group as it is nice to have a modern beautiful full house and all the facilities of a home with lake michigan out the back door.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car.
Owner response: Dave, I'm glad you and your family had a wonderful vacation! Please come back to Big Blu again and bring some friends to fill up the house! - Rhonda
