An exquisite property - with all amenities you need - in a beautiful setting
An exquisite property - with all amenities you need - in a beautiful setting
The home is exquisite and the setting is beautiful. We very much enjoyed entertaining both sets of our parents, both of our siblings and their spouses, and some of our closest friends and their kids. We enjoyed walks in the neighborhood, some leisurely and some athletic; made lots of wonderful food, thanks to the wonderful grill and amazing kitchen, fully equipped with everything even a gourmet chef would need; relaxed in the amazing master suite, complete with its own balcony and spa-like bathroom; sat outside and enjoyed the calm and quiet on the serene porch in the back; loved watching our son look at the trees, wind chimes, and all the toys on the play zone we were able to create for him in the family room area, which is part of an open-plan kitchen/dining room area - a new parents' delight! The photos do not do justice to the amazing job the owners did to renovate and update the house and really make it beyond well-equipped for a rental - from the sheets and towels in every room to restaurant guides of the area to an amazing washer & dryer (and detergent) to a high-tech but user-friendly television. The owners were kind, accommodating, and informative. During our stay, amongst the group of us, we checked out Cornwall; Hyde Park; Greenwich; Wilton; Katonah; and many other spots throughout the Westchester, Hudson River Valley, and Long Island Sound areas. For us, it was a wonderful break from NYC and a chance to imagine life living outside of the city - and a wonderful place to entertain visiting relatives and friends. Getting into the city was easy as well as Chappaqua is on a great train line to get into the city easily and the home is no more than ten minutes from the station. We recommend this house without reservation and wish the owners all the best in the coming months as they share their spectacular home with other lucky families.

New York Family Treat
New York Family Treat
This ideal location and home was perfect for our family gathering, bringing us from Texas and California to be with relatives in NY. Situated in a beautifully wooded, quiet neighborhood within reach of a nature preserve by foot, the delightful town of Chappaqua by car in 5 minutes and the world's greatest city in less than an hour (by car or train), we had all our needs met. During our 8 day stay we visited West Point, Hyde Park, Rye Playland and of course, New York City. Having rented houses in San Francisco, Lake Tahoe, and Big Sky, among other locales, we say without hesitation this was the finest home for a family gathering. Virtually anything we could want, for cooking, relaxing, or entertaining was readily available. One should note that a car is necessary. The listing description is accurate, the house and property spotless, the owners both cordial and helpful. The kitchen was phenomenally well equipped, family room and dining room could accomodate all of us and the decks were so positioned as to make the most of the natural setting. We even had a baby deer peek in the family room window, chipmunks and birds flitting about and enjoyed a strong thunderstorm on a covered deck while grilling dinner. Our hosts had information about the community at our fingertips. Perhaps the only shortcoming was the lack of a large grocery nearby. But we quickly adjusted and found all our food needs (we cooked many meals) were met by the delighful small shops in town. They really have the butcher, baker and candlestick maker. Since the home has all the spices one could imagine, all paper and plastic supplies ready, more kitchen tools and gadgets than we could use in a week, and sets of everyday table settings along with crystal and china, we wanted to nothing. We have no reservations about recommending this home away from home to anyone. Pictures only begin to do the place justice.

About the owner: We fully renovated this house to suit our large family and our love of fine cuisine. One of us works on Wall Street, and the other operates a small farm in Dutchess County, New York. There we raise rabbits, chickens, turkeys, and ducks using healthy and sustainable agricultural methods. Our interest in locavore food began with trips to the Pleasantville farmers' market in the village next to Chappaqua.
Why the Owner Chose Other Manhattan Properties:
While this property will work well for many families, it should be of particular interest to: (1) fashionistas and families who are planning a holiday shopping or sightseeing spree to New York City; (2) families who are attending an out-of-town wedding in New York City or the Hudson Valley; (3) New York City dwellers who are considering a permanent move to Westchester County, New York or Fairfield County, Connecticut but want to see what the commute is like, who really lives here, and where the best public schools are located (hint: Chappaqua is at the top of the list); (4) sophisticated domestic or international travelers who seek amenities and privacy that a hotel suite cannot offer; and (5) siblings or close friends who dream of spending a family vacation together but want their spouses and children to have a great time too.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Easy access to midtown Manhattan (Grand Central Terminal) by commuter railroad in as little as 46 minutes or by auto in about an hour, depending upon traffic; unparalleled canopy tree views; privacy; ultra high-end kitchen; luxurious bedrooms and baths; covered parking.
