Sit on the patio and make memories for years to come. 50' TV and DVD player are in the upstairs family room...we are avoiding Cable TV but have ROKU and Apple TV so you can access NETFLIX, or bring your favorite movies to play on the DVD. Manager response: Thank you so much for the review. We are glad you chose the Campbell Cabin. Hope you visit again soon. Diane
Simply fantastic! Beautiful home set back off Century Drive. Could not have asked for a better location! Plenty of room for a couple of families, and then some. We are relocating to the Bend area this year, and after staying at the Campbell Cabin, it's difficult to find a true home that compares! Our realtor said she would be recommending this home to her family and friends when they are looking for a vacation rental!! That alone speaks volumes!! Well done VRBO, rent/stay/enjoy....the only disappointing part is leaving!! Thanks for a great stay!!

We had a great time! The house was more than we expected with all the bedrooms, bathrooms and huge play area for the kids. I was amazed at how we never ran out of hot water when everyone was taking showers in the morning. The backyard was beautiful and private. A wonderful place to come and relax.

the perfect place in Bend
the perfect place in Bend
We had an absolutely incredible stay at this wonderfully cozy home in Bend, Oregon. We spent two weeks at this home and didn't want to leave. Upon arrival, we had nothing but responsive, accurate, and very helpful information from the house manager Diane. We came to Bend, a family of four-two adults/ two young children, for adventure, fun, and to see if we wanted to move there. Diane was one of the first very friendly people we met on our journey. The home itself is everything and more of what you will read in the description. It was very clean when we arrived. Whether we we're snuggled up next to the fireplace, cooking dinner, or playing with the kids in the very large Family room-tree house area the place felt like home. They have a rather large library collection scattered throughout the home which we really appreciated. The location couldn't have been more perfect for us. Tucked away in a quiet neighborhood off Century Drive (which is perfect if your planning a ski vacation or activities at Mt. Bachelor), also close to the Old Mill District, Downtown, bike path, and much more. This place is a gem hidden in Bend and we would highly recommend it to anyone coming to Bend!!

Great HomeGuest comment entered by manager
Ben from Los Angeles We love to ski and are sort of skiing snobs...we love Park City. Our friends invited us to stay with them in Bend to ski at Mt. Bachelor...where is that??? Well, I'm eating my words. Love everything about mt bachelor....single mountain with plenty of challenge for us aging baby boomers. Also, loved the home they chose. It is right on the way to the mountain (about 20 minutes). They call the house the Campbell cabin apparently both because it is on Campbell road and the owner(s) are in love with Joseph Campbell the philosopher. It is big (3,500+ square feet) but feels so cozy. The gas fireplace in the living room almost heats the entire house. The lack of cable TV, which annoyed me at first, turned out to be a blessing because we read and chatted more without the TV blaring. The house does have a TV with a DVD and Roku set-up from which you can access NetFlix and some other specials. Very comfy area to watch, too. Then there was the "secret sauce", Diane, the person the owner works with the owners to manage the house. She explained to us that the owner loves the cabin and provides TLC, via Diane. That TLC comes with the house. Diane offered to do an initial shopping (for a meer $30) for us. When we arrived we were so happy! Nuts, chips and mixers for drinks and beer in the extra refrig in the garage. She insisted we contact her if we needed anything. We did, and Diane babysat for our 3 children on 2 separate occasions; excellent pleasant surprise...we begged Diane to come home with us! See you next year.

Great HikingGuest comment entered by manager
The Jones Family from Portland, Or Okay, we have stayed in lots of rentals from VRBO, and we were thrilled with this home. We do lots of recreational-level biking and hiking, nothing too crazy and for us this was a fantastic location. We dropped down right onto Century Blvd and onto the bike path which goes all the way into town…and our favorite Soy Latte place, Strictly Organic. SO is about a 10 minute bike ride from the house (and 15 minutes coming back since it is slightly uphill.) We rode in the other direction for about 3 miles to widgi creek golf course and a beautiful riverside public picnic area at the end of a graded dirt and gravel road (about another mile or so). Simply beautiful. For hiking, we walked right down to the river (about ¼ mile from this house) and then along a city-provided walking path. It took us about 45 minutes to complete the loop. Going in the other direction we walked through the Tetherow Golf course (not sure if we were trespassing, but no one said anything) and after a 40-minute walk hit the beginning of the BLM land which stretches for miles. That was a long, but memorable hike. So, I guess “great location” would be the short version of all this.

Cambell CabinGuest comment entered by manager
From Lee, Winston Salem, NC I came to Oregon three years ago for the first time kicking and screaming. I wasn't even sure if Oregon was on top of Washington or vice-versa. Having just completed my third stay in Bend, I must say I love it and can't wait to come back again next year. This town has so much going on! We took in the Blue Grass Festival at the ampatheatre (which is right on the river, and about 5 minutes (or less?) by car. This was our first stay at the Campbell Cabin and we are already planning to book again for next year. My only wish is that if we had invited a fourth couple, a 4th bathroom would be nice. The Cabin is a real home with 4 bedrooms and a great 'bonus room'- they call it the “Tree house” since it looks out mostly into the trees, it was a magnet for the kids and kept them happy while we were downstairs visiting and cooking. We loved it!

About: My three girls- who are now grown- and I discovered Bend in 1998. We love it. I spend as much time as possible in Bend, balanced with my consulting business which is based in San Francisco. One daughter lives in Sisters with her husband, one is a Duck (class of '15), and one is in school at UCLA. We gather in Bend often and hosted a wonderful family wedding in August of '13.
We call our Bend home 'The Campbell Cabin'. The minute we saw it we knew it was perfect. The neighborhood is peaceful and friendly and sits on the edge of both Tethrow and Broken Top golf clubs...both are a short walk-and are open for drinks, dinner or golf-even for non-members. I often walk across Century Blvd with my evening cocktail down to the river (a five minute walk) for a little fishing and ride my bike to town for breakfast (I like Sparrow and Strictly Organic). The location is perfect...on the way to Mt. Bachelor and out the front door are endless hikes and fabulous mountain and road biking...no need to drive. The Athletic Club of Bend (see their web site at www.athleticclubofbend.com) is across the street and you can buy a day-pass to use this superb facility for about $15.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
We love this home because it has the feel of both a cabin and a comfortable and casual family home; nothing too fancy or dainty. The minute I arrive, I begin to relax. The four bedrooms include two suites, each with their own bathrooms (one up and one downstairs) and two bedrooms that share a bath (both are upstairs). The big family room is upstairs; we call it the 'Tree House' because it looks out into the trees. The washer-dryer is upstairs as well. The kitchen is just great with a table made by a local craftsman. The house totals about 3,200 square feet. The yard in the back is perfect for lounging or entertaining. It also has both a large gas fire-pit, a small, enclosed wood burning fire pit and Weber charcoal grill. Perfect for a family with children or an extended family since there are two very separate areas to 'hang out'- upstairs and downstairs.
