Stellar Views and Dining in a Real San Francisco Neighborhood
Don’t miss a chance to stay in a classic, 1920s building in one of San Francisco’s hottest and most local and fun neighborhoods. Magnificent views of the entire span of the Golden Gate Bridge, the Bay and all the way to Marin are right outside the window. A panoramic 360 view of the entire city beckons from the roof top and the building has a small shared garden in the back.
This cozy, sun-drenched apartment has been recently remodeled with Brazilian Cherry wood floors, Italian marble in the bathroom and stainless steel appliances. The entrance is on a flat street and the building has an elevator.
Walk to the Bay, Marina Green, the Presidio, Chrissy Field, Fisherman’s Wharf, North Beach and Chinatown. Chic Polk and Union Street shopping, abundant music and dining are right outside the door. Some of the City’s best wine bars and stores are down the street. I am the editor of a magazine that covers wine and restaurants and will gladly share my insider tips. Great shopping and dining on Fillmore and Chestnut are also an easy walk. The Cow Hollow neighborhood has a walk score of 98 and is the perfect place to experience San Francisco as a native.
Urban hiking opportunities abound on the architecturally stunning Russian and Nob Hill. Running and biking paths along the Bay are just a few blocks away. Easy access to downtown museums, Union Square, the Embarcadero and shopping as several major bus lines stop right outside the building.
The apt has a fantastic kitchen and big fridge if you want to cook it. It also has a flat-screen TV, CD system, radio and DVD player. Wireless is included.
The Golden Gate Bridge and wine country of Sonoma and Napa are easy to access from this location. The area is full of delicious restaurants, from the high-end Gary Danko and La Folie to great little Vietnamese places and little cafes. A great, organic grocery store is down the street for all your cooking needs and you can walk to the Farmer's Market at Ft. Mason. So you can dine out a huge range of restaurants or cook in with top-notch ingredients during your stay.
This is a high-request property. I urge you to email as I am not always able to response to phone requests. This property is not suitable for children. Thanks.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this very comfortable apartment on Van Ness with it's wonderful view of the Golden Gate Bridge and Marin headlands and good kitchen (as we like to cook) and great location. The bed was quite comfortable. We didn't need a car as we had access to buses going many directions across the city within a block of the apartment or alternately we only had to walk a short distance to a multitude of good restaurants and interesting shops on Polk, Chestnut and Union. A walk to the Marina area was only minutes from our place as well with Fort Mason and Ghirardelli Square as focal points.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

We loved staying at this great one bedroom condo in the heart of Cow Hollow! This neighborhood is central to so many great restaurants, bars, shopping and sightseeing! It was perfect for our trip as this neighborhood is in the middle of both our friends and our family's neighborhoods! There was a great coffee & breakfast spot located directly across from the gorgeous old San Franciscan building that the condo is located in! We called ahead for taxis if we were travelling across town and they were always downstairs waiting right after we hung up! I highly recommend this vacation rental for people travelling into the city and wanting to stay where the "locals" live! It's sure to be a great vacation beginning with this rental property!Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2010
About the owner: I am a food and wine writer and magazine editor, who was raised in New York lived in Italy for many years. I travel extensively and didn't always love SF when I visited. The food and wine were always divine but I think some of that had to do with generic downtown hotel locations. From the time I moved to my current area I have been in love with this City.
Why the Owner Chose Cow Hollow:
The minute I saw my apartment I saw what it could become with some renovations. For me, it's my little paradise in the sky with views that inspire me to write all day long.
Unfortunately our roof access has been restricted. However the views from my unit are almost as good!
The Unique Benefits at this Condo:
This is my actual home and not a secondary one. So it may look a bit more lived in than other homes on the site: read lots of great wine and unique art. I hope to make your stay as fantastic as possible with my insights on dining, drinking, hiking and enjoying our city. I might even leave you a nice bottle of wine to drink!
