The cabin was really great. There is a creek for fishing right behind it. Very secluded and better than the pictures. Highly recommended

We had a great, quiet stay here. Perfect if you're looking to get away from it all. Bed was comfy, sheets and towels were high-quality, kitchen had everything you needed, and the deck was amazing. No access to hiking trails but many options within a 30-min drive.

    Recommended for: Romantic getaway

Owner response: Thank you Shannon! Alas no hiking trails immediately adjacent to the cabin, but the C&O canal, the Maryland Rail Trail and Cacapon State Park are fairly close by. I do hope you had a chance to check out some of those areas and if not this time hopefully on a return visit. Thanks so much for staying at Sleepy Creek Cabin! David & Kate

The cottage was so charming: beautifully decorated, extremely comfortable. The hosts were great: speedy responses to inquiries, recommendations for dining and activities, directions to cottage and how to use wood stove, tv, etc. The stream behind the house was so peaceful to listen to and watch, even though the weather was cold and damp. Would definitely return!

My husband and I went to the Log Cabin at Sleepy Creek for the weekend of March 1st. It was unbelievable. We had plans to explore the area, but ended up spending the entire Saturday at the cabin. The view of the water is amazing, the fire pit was an added bonus on a chilly day- and the cabin is AWESOME. Beautifully decorated. I just can't say enough good things about it. We plan on coming back this summer.. and made a pact to bring books and sit by the water all day long. :)

Owner response: Thank you Whitney! Of course we are in love with the cabin too - the elements of both water and fire set in nature seem to bring about a feeling of peace and well-being. It was wonderful to have you and your husband. We look forward to having you back in the Summer. Happy Spring! Kate & David Frick

This is a wonderful cabin right beside the water. Overall the cabin is great - we really enjoyed our time. The kitchen is awesome, it had everything we could even think of needing. The beds are comfortable and the linens and towels are soft. I loved the dining table. I also loved the deck. It is beautiful outside. Of course when we went in February it was very cold and the only real heat was the wood stove (the baseboard heat really did nothing). It look a while to get the cabin warmed up. Once it was toasty then of course it was way too hot upstairs, I am sure this is normal with a loft. There is a ceiling fan. When we arrived there was not much wood material to start the fire; we had to get our own. One of the requirments when we left was to bring in wood and kindlin for the next renter. I think I would enjoy this cabin more in warmer weather, but not too hot because I don't think there is air conditioning. The cabin was fairly easy to get to; except that one of the road signs were down, so we guessed about the turn and we guessed right!

Owner response: Hi Donna - thank you for your critique. Just a couple of comments. The base board heaters are not intended to heat the cabin, but to simply keep the pipes from freezing which is why we allow for early check-ins if the cabin has been vacant prior to a guest's arrival. That gives our guest time to arrive during day light hours, start a fire and heat up the cabin. I'm sorry the previous renters did not leave adequate firewood and kindling - we do rely on renters to be courteous & responsible, but sometimes people forget. Such a curse to be human :-). Re: A/C. We do install units to cool the cabin and they work remarkably well. David & Kate

We stayed there for 3 nights and it was very comfortable, clean and just what we needed. When we got there it was freezing and we got the wood stove going immediately. It took a while to get warmed up but when it did, it was great. We are not TV people but we listened to music all weekend on their CD/iPod player & played Scrabble which was there along with some others. My only complaint and it is a small one but something I think should be supplied because it's basic "pantry items" -- salt & pepper, sugar & maybe some of that cheesy non-dairy creamer. OR, if we had known we would have brought or purchased before getting up the hill and all. Not a huge deal but I have to have cream & sugar in my coffee and who doesn't have salt & pepper??? Really though the place was great and I would love to come in the spring or in fall when the trees are green and you can sit on the porch listening to the creek that is right there. I will definitely come back -- and bring my own kitchen staples :o) Thanks for a great place!!!

Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Owner response: Freeda - Glad your stay was nice! We usually do supply salt and pepper, so that must have just run out but don't usually do coffee fixin's. I do know what you mean about having to have your coffee though! I do hope you come back when the leaves are on. The coziness of the stove in winter is so enjoyable but the summer sitting on the deck is about as peaceful as it gets! Enjoy the Spring! Kate & David

Thank you so much. I came to the cabin on Sleepy Creek to escape the heartache, the pain, the anguish of losing a beloved. The sounds of the water, the quiet of the night, the beauty of the surroundings brought solace to a troubled heart. Wow, after re-reading this it sounds like I was on a spiritual retreat. I was. Everything in the cabin was as expected…lovely and very clean and everything was there for comfort. My heart is now somewhat at peace, of course I will always have memories but I can handle them now. I am so glad that I decided to take the winter retreat to Berkeley Springs. I am hoping to revisit during a different season. Thanks again for an uplifting experience.

Owner response: Sarah: I am very sorry for your loss but feel grateful that you were able to find some healing at the cabin. I agree about the sounds of the creek and the feeling in general. Sleepy Creek Cabin is the most peaceful place I know. I hope that you continue to heal and come back to visit us often; anytime you need to take a moment for yourself. This cabins description does not do it justice. Very well appointed, comfortable, cozy, serene and a quiet as you want it to be. A very short drive to town for several meal/entertainment choices, but in absolute seclusion, this cabin was a perfect get away from Washington, DC. If I could figure out how to buy this little slide of Heaven, I would. The fireplace warmed the cabin so well, we opened windows to allow cooler air in at times. The sound of the running creek in the background made it the best sleep I have gotten in months. Mornings were spent overlooking the creek drinking coffee and afternoons by the fire. Very nice cable TV in case you are interested -but if reading and writing or taking a hike are in the plans, its a perfect place. We will be back and back often. A note on the owners: First class, responsive, and very informative. Excellent choice.

Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Owner response: Thank you for your kind words Alicia. When we were looking for a cabin in the area, Sleepy Creek Cabin was nothing we had requested for our realtor to seek. But she knew our hearts perhaps better than we did. We knew upon opening the front door this was what we were seeking. As much as we love this place it felt selfish not to share the tranquility with others. We're so glad you enjoyed your stay. David & Kate

Along with three other friends, my husband and I stayed for two nights at this beautiful cabin near Berkeley springs. The pictures probably do not do justice to how picturesque the location and the cabin itself is. The woodstove makes the entire cabin extremely cosy and perfect for a snowy christmas eve feast. The kitchen was perfectly equipped for cooking large, elaborate meals. The bedrooms were lovely and the cabin was definitely comfortable with the five of us. We also took a trip into berkeley springs and tried out the hot spring roman baths. It was delightful -- sitting in the steaming bath house with snow falling outside the window. We really did not want to leave and are excited about booking the cabin in summer and fall in the future. Can't recommend this spot highly enough!

We recently spent a weekend in Berkeley Springs for a girls spa weekend. We had a wonderful time and thought the cabin was perfect. We were impressed with the cleanliness, set-up and newness of the cabin. We LOVED the seclusion and sound of the creek. It was the perfect size for 4 people. The owners were always reponsive with questions we had prior to our visit and provided handwritten instructions in the cabin for everything we needed (even on how to operate the wood stove!). We only had to bring personal items. The cabin was fully equipped with appliances, linens, towels, etc. We had a wonderful time in Berkeley Springs and would highly recommend this VRBO rental. We hope to visit again!

We spent a wonderful weekend at the Sleepy Creek cabin. The cabin is beautiful and it was very clean. We built fires in the wood stove and we stayed warm the entire weekend. It was so relaxing to go outside and see and hear the nearby creek. The town of Berkley Springs was delightful and just a short drive to get there. We recommend this lovely cabin and hope to return again soon!!!

My husband and I was attracted to this rental because of it's seclusion, rustic but luxury feel and it's location - Berkeley Springs, WV. We were not disappointed and actually exceeded our expectations! As soon as you walk into the log cabin, you notice how clean it is, it's warmth and coziness and how it has been upgraded. We absolutely loved everything about the cabin - from the loft, to the decor, wood burning stove which kept the entire cabin warm and views and sounds of the running creek as we sat outdoors having our morning coffee. This was our first time in Berkeley Springs, WV and we truly enjoyed ourselves and found everyone we met to be so friendly. We highly recommend Tari's that is on the main stretch. Everything we had was delicious especially their cream of crab soup. Angus & Ale is a great place further down the main stretch if you are hungry for ribs which have homemade bourbon BBQ sauce on them! We went to the Berkeley Springs State Park Bathhouse which are renovated. If you want to experience the mineral baths followed by a deep tissue massage, I suggest you ask for Ruth and David. During our drive home we mentioned that our stay was not long enough and will be coming back during the spring for a longer stay. We truly appreciate David and Kate sharing "Sleepy Creek Cabin" with us.

Owner response: Debbie - We were so happy to host you and your husband for your anniversary and are so glad everything was wonderful for you both. We are very grateful to have the opportunity to share what we feel is the most peaceful and relaxing place on earth with others. So glad you liked Tari's (we love it too) and nice to hear a recommedation for the Angus & Ale since it is new in town. Best wishes for many happy years together and we are looking forward to your return! Kate & David

We considered many cabins while looking for the perfect place to stay. I am very happy that this is the one we chose. Cabin was clean, inviting, and comfortable. Plenty of room for my wife and our 5 children (all under the age of 12). We thoroughly enjoyed taking in the fall air from the comfort of the Adirondack chairs on the porch while the children played and fished in the stream, which is literally just a few steps away. It was a bit chilly when we arrived, with the temperature outside in the 40's, but a fire in the newly installed fireplace quickly warmed the cabin and kept it that way with minimal effort throughout the weekend. There are also electric baseboard heaters if fires aren't your thing. Beds and linens were very comfortable. Everything is just as described. Owners are very pleasant, easy going, and very quick to respond to any request / issue, having given up the better part of their Saturday to drive to the cabin and quickly resolve a minor issue we had. Without a doubt, they go over the top to make sure you are comfortable and it is greatly appreciated. I highly recommend this cabin. Really, stop looking. This is where you want to stay. If comfort, peace, and tranquilty is what you desire, you've found it.

Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Owner response: Thank you Brent, so glad you and your lovely family enjoyed the cabin; you guys had a beautiful weekend to enjoy the changing foliage. We’re very glad the minor issue proved not to be an issue afterall and it gave us a chance to see the new wood-burning stove in action. It is as efficient and attractive as we had anticipated. We hope you’ll return for another visit soon and thanks again for the great review.

We had an absolutely wonderful and relaxing time at the cabin Labor Day weekend. When we arrived, we couldn't have been more pleased with the location, the privacy, and how nice the cabin was inside and outside. Our stay was perfect. The location near the creek was very relaxing and peaceful. We were very comfortable in the cabin and the full kitchen was thoughtfully equipped with anything a guest would need. This was our first time in the area, we toured around Berkeley Springs, stopped at the Panoramic Overlook, and drove out to the Paw Paw Tunnel for a nice walk and beautiful outdoor scenery. The owners were very nice to communicate with, and we would highly recommend this lovely accommodation.

The cabin that I rented was exactly as shown in the pictures. My purpose for renting was for peace and quiet and that was exactly what I got. The area was secluded but was within walking distance of neighbors. The house itself was warm and cozy with several choices for sleeping areas. The owners were thoughtful enough to include written instructions for TV settings as well as written directions to the nearest grocery store. There was also a plethora of information regarding points of interest such as spas, parks, recreation and restaurants. When I had questions regarding access the owners responded to my emails within 24 hours. When I was reading reviews of the cabin I remember one person writing that the cabin was so clean you could even see the vacuum marks on the furniture. Well that was the truth because I saw them as well. I am sure that I will be visiting again and would recommend it to others.

My husband and I have stayed at many B&Bs and cabins in Virginia and West Virginia. This one ranks among our favorites. It's totally private, yet neighbors are within a few minutes walk. The cabin's exterior is rather humble-looking but inside the decor leans toward upscale: simple, almost spare, but with beautiful touches like the granite counters, handmade quilts and suede sectional sofa with one of those elongated sections just perfect for naps. Seasoned cabin-renters will enjoy the well-equipped kitchen with "real" stainless flatware, full-size fridge and stove/oven. There are also two flat screen TVs (which we didn't find time to use), and great CD and DVD collections. The wrap around deck offers a wonderful place to enjoy the sights and sounds of the creek. We timed our trip to escape the August heat of the city and wanted to be sure that our rentals had adequate a/c, but only needed to use the fans here. While in the area we had fun rambling around Berkeley Springs, visiting the shops and the Spa. We also spent a few hours on the Western Maryland Rail Trail, renting bikes at the C & O Bike shop in nearby Hancock, MD. Being a careful planner I had a few questions about the property and payment beforehand. The owner was extremely helpful, patient and prompt in replying to my email inquiries. On this particular trip we'd stayed at two other places, and arriving at Sleepy Creek Cabin elicited a "wow" from both of us. Really delightful.

Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Owner response: Thank you for your wonderful review Lise! We wanted to create a place that is stress-free where you don’t have to worry about flatware (LOL – thank you for noticing); or feel like you have to sacrifice creature comforts to immerse yourself in nature. Our goal was to provide reprieve from the day to day rat race where you can truly experience serenity. Thanks so much for staying at Sleepy Creek, we enjoyed having you as our guests, and hope you’ll consider returning. Kate & David.

I've been renting properties through VRBO, and this is one of the best. We found it to be rustic yet comfortable. The wrap around porch was so nice to just sit and relax and listen to the creek. The owners were very helpful when we had an issue with the AC, they called back right away and found a solution, and even offered to drive down and replace the AC if it didn't work. (It did.) Our two year old twin sons loved running around on the porch, and tossing rocks in the water. Berkeley Springs is a wonderful, walkable town that you must see. Also, Paw-Paw disc golf course isn't too far away if you enjoy that sport.

We stayed in this wonderful cabin with our three children over Memorial Day Weekend. The owners are extremely friendly and easy to work with which is always a plus when trying to find a vacation home to rent. The cabin itself was very well maintained and clean. The loft area was perfect to accommodate our three young children while the master bedroom was very comfortable and spacious for us. The most notable aspect is the proximity of the cabin to the creek (more like a nice stream) running right through the property. The soothing sound of the water immediately puts you at ease upon arrival. Other positive factors are easy car access to the property, two flat panel TVs w/ DirecTV service, towels/linens are provided and the overall seclusion of the property. We will definitely rent again!!
