Charming 1930's island home completely restored in 2010...well, not quite. But our procrastination is your reward! Enjoy this 1 bedroom reverse floor plan home for a reduced rate. All rental income will help us finish our restoration project. All the important updates to keep you comfortable have been completed. What's missing? The window & baseboard trim and bedroom & closet doors. Everything else is up and running smoothly including new central heat & air, plumbing, electricity and heat pump. Our cottage has been lovingly restored by a master historic preservation craftsman and decorated to reflect the original colors with a bit of eccentricity, art work and lots of stained glass mixed in. You will find this a relaxing and calming environment.
Our cottage is located across from Silver Lake, at the junction of Fig Tree Lane and Howard Street. Located in the heart of town, but the cottage is well insulated and far enough back from the street to feel removed from the hustle and bustle of the village traffic. The rental space is located behind and above the Ocracoke Restoration shop (open 10 - 6), a small boutique selling vintage jewelry and antique stained glass.
This property has a private back entrance and off-road parking, an outside deck, mud room with washer and dryer, a full-sized bathroom and kitchen with all the amenities to heat up left-overs or to create a gourmet meal! There is a cozy TV room downstairs and a full sized living room with two sofa beds and a bedroom with an amazingly comfortable queen sized bed upstairs, with plenty of storage space and a selection of books and games. The upstairs windows offer an excellent spot for bird watching among the live oaks.
This is an excellent low cost opportunity to experience the magic in the heart of Ocracoke village.

The Restored Island Cottage, was just wonderful....everything my husband and I could have asked for during our Christmas Holiday. I relaxed and read...my husband fished every day. We loved our stay so much we book it again for our Spring holiday...the owner Carol was more than accommodating and hope she considers us new friends. (The added bonus is her fabulous vintage gift shop attached to the property) I give this place an A+ and this is our 3 stay on the island in the past year!!!Recommended for: Age 55+, sightseeing, romantic getaway, pet owners, tourists without a car, adventure seekers, girls getaway.

Dear Tom and Carol, We are writing to thank you for a lovely stay at your cottage in the days before Christmas. What a charming place in a great location! We were so pleased with your attention to detail and your artistic sense of organizing and decorating. Loved it. The mattresses on the couch pull outs were fine for our daughter, but a bit uncomfortable for grown ups - please take thus as helpful feedback rather than a complaint. We loved our stay and will certainly look you up next time.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

No need for a golf cart when your in the heart of Ocracoke. Easy stroll to most restaurants and shops, ten minute bike ride to National Seashore. Enjoyed coffee sitting in the rocking chairs in the front yard, watching the village come alive each morning. Place was just right for two adults and two older kids. Clean, comfortably funky, priced right, friendly and helpful owners. Carol answered all of our questions, brought us some basil from her garden, let us park at her home while we walked Springer's Point, kept in touch via email leading up to the trip. If you go, keep it to yourself, we want to return here for years to come!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing, romantic getaway, tourists without a car, families with young children, adventure seekers, girls getaway.

Well - I hesitate to write a glowing review, because I'm afraid that EVERYone will want to stay here and this charming little cottage won't be available the next time we want to visit! But I'm afraid I must... Tom and Carol are the most wonderful hosts, and even brought us fresh mackarel one night! Even though the cottage is attached to a business (Ocracoke Restoration), you wouldn't know it - it feels totally private. This cottage has everything you could possibly want, including a fully stocked kitchen, washer/dryer, mega storage and room to spread out, plus a flat screen TV that you can pick up and move to the room of your choice! We didn't watch much TV.... there's way too much to do on the Island, and much of it is right outside your back door. Except for our daylong excursions to Ramp 59 and clamming on the soundside, we ditched the truck for the week and walked the entire island - and this cottage is right in the middle of all that Ocracoke has to offer, including 'haunted Howard Street', that begins right across from the back porch. And if you've never been to Ocracoke - don't worry about 'being in the middle of everything' - Ocracoke is quiet and peaceful. Being in the middle is right where you want to be! We can't wait to come back!Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, tourists without a car, adventure seekers.

My husband and I had the pleasure to stay at this adorable 1930's cottage. My first impression was it's cleanliness and the little touches left by our gracious owner. We had everything we needed with the exception of bringing our beach towels, clothing, and food. Ocracoke Island is a wonderful place to visit. The village is very artsy with amazing shops and restaurants, along with streets filled with people walking, riding bikes, and driving golf carts...The public beach is only a 5 minutes drive from the cottage. We would highly recommend Ocracoke Coffee Co. and the Pony Island Restaurant, as well as Over The Moon and Ocracoke Restoration. Bingo Night (Tuesday) at the Ocracoke Firehouse is a lot of fun too. My husband and I left Ocracoke Island well rested. Check out this rental....it's as amazing as it looks.Recommended for: Age 55+, sightseeing, romantic getaway, tourists without a car, families with young children, girls getaway.

What a wonderful cottage, perfect for our family. Fully equipped with all the modern amenities. Including washer and dryer, and central air! Centrally located, so walking around the village is no problem. We've already reserved this cottage again for next summer and can't wait to go back! I would (and have) highly recommended this cottage to friends. Some of which are staying later in the summer! Enjoy!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing, romantic getaway, pet owners, tourists without a car, families with young children.
