Sunspot is a large duplex that can be rented in half or whole. Each unit can be rented to sleep 10 or a second unit with 12. Together they can accommodate a medium size group of friends or family reunions - and never go outside. Rented separately they are complete three bedroom, two bath units of 1800 square feet each. Both have separate access to the common area. All of our four bathrooms have a another sink-dressing area outside the full bathrooms. (See the floor plan and bed arrangements on our website.) The common area between the two units has the main winter entrance, sauna, hot tub, extra half bath, shower, laundry, boot room and ski lockers. This million dollar home is the closest(rentable) private home to the core area. Across the street from The Steamboat Grand Hotel, 1.5 blocks to the Sheraton Hotel and Conference Hall, two blocks to the new 6 pass Christie Express Lift and three blocks to the Gondola. We have a two acre forest with lots of birds, fox, occasional coyotes, and rare bears in May. It is just a two to three block walk to through our forest path to the bike trail and then to the gondola or Ski Time square shopping area. There is a parking area for seven cars, or an occasional snowmobile trailer. Free bus service to all Steamboat sites is just across the street,every 20 minutes -in Season.

Why the Owner Chose Clock Tower
This lot is really in the heart of the ski area. As soon as the kids were above eight they were able to walk to and from the lifts. We carried their skis and they carried the poles. (Now there is bus service but we all still walk.) And, of course, there is the Steamboat Powder. This year of 2009 we had at least 8 days of knee deep powder. Three generations had a blast. (We were skunked in 2008.) Summer mountain biking off the gondola is great but grandkids have other interests. Our lot is on a hillside with lots of steps so you will have a mountain experience.
The Unique Benefits at this House
"Pride of ownership" means lots of painting a upgrading. We paint a while then go for a hike, then lay some tile and go fishing. Just working on the fence in the middle of our lot is filled with wild flowers, sage smells, aspen and pine. But above all Sunspot is great for families and friends to gather and then go their different ways. We delibertly keep our rating at economy so that families can afford to go to the mountains. Owner's Map of Clock Tower
The Beard family found this lot in 1969 when Steamboat had only two lifts. You might say we "saw it coming". Then when our four kids were in grade school we built our ski house in 1978. Since the lot was zoned for a duplex we designed a building that would last us into future generations. Our family house is in Fort Collins, about three hours away. Our family has now grown to 18 and we have plenty of room for everyone to stay in the same house. Now many of the grandchildren are in high school and if the group is down to ten we will only take one unit and share the other side with our customers.

Great accommodations, lots of beds, and love the extra sink areas so everyone can get ready to go. Kitchen is well equipped. Close walk to the ski base is very nice. Manager willing to answer any questions and give recommendations. Ample parking, and you have to be able to climb steps, the descriptions are right on.

This was such a convenient location.. Private and spacious for the 4 of us.. Deloy, the caretaker was extremely courteous and outgoing.. Hot tub, Internet, heat,beds,and kitchen--all a great experience. We will be here again next year....

This was our second time staying at Sunspot. The owners and caretaker have always been friendly and accommodating. The price for the short walk to the slopes is unmatched. The rooms are spacious and the extra large dinning table is great for everyone to eat at or play games. We always reccomend this property.

Much roomier than pictures indicate. We had 10 adults (family). Sunset worked well for us.The new couches are very comfortable. We had counted on the futons for sleeping but all worked out without them. Love the common area for ski boots and wet clothes, hot tub, extra bathroom, etc. Handy to bus and walking distance to lifts. Steps were icy which added a sense of adventure. Very enjoyable and attractive rate. We will return. Pleasant caretaker.

I was very satisfied with this rental and am coming back for a second visit. We had 22 adults in the house and there was a bed for everyone. It's an easy 2-3 block walk to the gondola. Best deal in Steamboat!

We used both units for a family get together and had a great time. The setup of the units worked quite well for our situation (three generations - multiple families). It was a wonderful opportunity to spend time together in a very comfortable setting. The place is also right by the bus stop (free) so it made it quite simple for going to the main street area without bothering with cars. The bedrooms got a bit warm for sleeping but the fans worked pretty well. Other than that, everything was great! Thank you!
