The Cottage is a modern, custom-built guest house featuring all new appliances, furniture and decor. Tastefully decorated, the 700 square foot house includes a full kitchen, washer and dryer, gas log heater, vaulted ceilings with ceiling fans, cable TV with DVD/VCR, and a large tiled full bathroom.
The large bedroom contains a queen bed and there is a comfortable sofabed in the living room. The front porch offers views of the mountains and a nicely landscaped fenced yard. This is an immaculate cottage with beautiful architectural details.
The Cottage is located in a quiet residential neighborhood in Salida, within easy walking distance of historic downtown with its fine restaurants, bars, galleries, shops, and the Arkansas River. It is easy to find - six blocks from Highway 50. Hot Springs, fishing, rafting, skiing, biking, etc. are right at your door.

Why the Owner Chose Salida
We first visited Salida in 2001 and fell in love with the town and the area. The scenery and the outdoor activities here are incredible and the town retains much of its century-old charm. After visiting several times a year for the next few years and making several friends here, we decided we needed a more permanent place to stay during our visits.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin - Cottage
The Cottage, at the corner of Maxwell and Teller streets, is only a few blocks from the center of downtown Salida, only four blocks from the library and park. Although it's in town, it is extraordinarily quiet and peaceful. And it's just minutes from great hiking mountain-bike trails. The Monarch Crest trail is one of the premier hiking/biking trails in the country. Plus there are many off-road trails for jeeping, ATVs and dirt bikes. In winter, the Monarch Ski Area is less than 30 minutes away.

After living in Dallas, Texas for 20 years, we decided in 1998 that we wanted to eventually retire in Colorado and began searching for the best places. We love the outdoors: hiking, biking and skiing and even just sitting in some quiet place in the mountains and enjoying the peacefulness and beauty around us. We searched all over central and northern Colorado for three years before coming to Salida by accident and finding that it has practically everything we wanted.
