Coyote Cabin's three levels rise to spectacular views of the Continental Divide.
Location: Black Hawk, Front Range, Colorado, USA (Black Hawk) View Map
Accommodations: Cabin, 3 Bedrooms + Loft, 3 Baths (Sleeps 10)
Keywords: Cabin
Coyote Cabin is a beautiful mountain retreat nestled in the woods just minutes from Black Hawk and Central City. Relax in luxury while enjoying spectacular panoramic views from all rooms, the 900 foot deck or spacious loft and upper deck.
Uniquely designed to maximize views of the Continental Divide’s snow-capped peaks and valley, Coyote Cabin rises from the forest on three separate levels to provide thrilling views and everything needed for groups of up to 10 persons. Our guests have all been more than happy with the Coyote Cabin. We strive to provide the best quality furniture, linen, cookware and appliances. Beware of other properties that boast a "rustic" experience, you will likely find them old, drafty and dissappointing. If you want to relax in comfort and luxury, and be close to everything, this is the place.
You say you want privacy? The Cabin is located on a heavily wooded, five acre "view lot" just off a County maintained road. Due to the steep grade, this was an expensive property to build (we purchased from the builder who built this for his own home), and which is the reason why it has spectacular views. You won't be bothered by hikers or off roaders as we do not back to the National Forest, but are just minutes away. No dangerous river nearby either, so your children can safely explore our woods. Abundant wildlife onsite, as pictured, still requires common sense and reasonable precaution - you are in the Rocky Mountains after all - at 9000 feet! Walk slowly and stay hydrated to avoid altitude sickness.
Coyote's main level includes a great room with leather reclining furniture, cathedral ceilings/windows and gas fireplace, a large dining area with 8 person Mission style dinning table, and a fully equipped kitchen with breakfast bar. Two bedrooms and two full bathrooms are also located on the main level. Its large upper level loft includes a huge custom U-shaped sofa with pull out sleeper, a double futon, a private TV area and an adjoining balcony. Send the kids to the loft and forget about it!
The lower level features a another private deck, wood burning stove and pool table in the recreation room, one bedroom, bathroom and laundry room. A dishwasher, microwave oven, refrigerator, 4 satellite connected TV’s, DVD/VCR’s, stereo, all linen, cookware, two king size pillow top beds and one queen bed are all included. High speed DSL internet service is provided at no cost to our guests. BBQ grill is provided.
Area attractions are plentiful. In addition to the 22 casinos just 7.5 miles away by Highway 119 (or just 3 miles by County maintained Dory Hill Road), Gilpin County’s new 4.8 million dollar recreation center is just 1.5 miles away and features an Olympic size pool, indoor running track, full weight room and numerous family oriented activities.
4 miles down Highway 46 is Golden Gate Canyon State Park, which is renowned for its trails and public fishing lakes. Of course, Cutthroat and Rainbow Trout are also found in nearby Clear Creek and Wedge Reservoir above Central City.
Snow skiing is only 20 minutes away in Eldora; 25 minutes to Loveland; 30 minutes to A-Basin, and Keystone; 40 minutes to Breckenridge; 45 minutes to Copper Mountain and about one hour to Vail. Access to over 500 miles of local back-road trails for off-roading and dirt bikes are just minutes away.
Night time dining and entertainment is found in Central City and Black Hawk. Ameristar Casino (3 miles away) has live music on weekends and large screem TV's for viewing sporting events.
In the summer, famous Central City Opera House is open. Shopping and movies are available in nearby Idaho Springs, Evergreen, Bergen Park and Golden. Of course, Denver is just one hour away and is packed with sporting events, (four major sports teams!), downtown restaurants, shopping and night clubs. For a slower pace, take the Peak to Peak Highway (119) to nearby Rollinsville, Nederland and Estas Park. If you have camping friends visiting, a KOA campground is just two miles away.

Why the Owner Chose Black Hawk
We bought our property after looking at many others on the market in many differnt locations in Gilpin County. We bought the Coyote Cabin directly from the builder who built this house for himself. It is extremely well built, on a steep "down lot" which provides some of the best views of the mountains we have ever seen, and just minutes to Black Hawk and Central City. My wife and I have "tweaked" the cabin in every way possible to make it seem like it is truly a "home away from home" for our guests, as well as ourselves.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin
This house is very comfortable and its three levels allows for large groups to have their own space to play pool, dine, or watch TV in the private loft. An oversized two car garage and ample parking is always apprecaited by our guests.

This was our second time staying in the cabin and it was great. As soon as we got into Denver it was snowing and the kids had a great time playing in the snow. Copper Mountain was a quick trip so the kids could go tubing. With so much nearby, great views from the house and a very nice and clean house to stay in, we will be back again!! We would definitely recommend this wonderful place to everyone! Thank you!!
Owner response:Your timing was perfect for winter activities, glad you had a great time! Thanks for your wonderful comments. The Kelleys

We were so fortunate to be able to take a family vacation with our extended family this year (6 adults + 4 kids!) Coyote Cabin was the perfect place for us-plenty of room for everyone. The kids had a great time hanging out on the decks and up in the loft, hiking around, the views were magnificent and we loved the peace and quiet (well, as much quiet as you can have with 4 kiddos). Coyote Cabin and a Colorado adventure was just what we needed!

Hi Jeff, Just wanted to say thanks for the wonderful family time we shared in your cabin - even the young (24 and 28) enjoyed themselves. We saw Elk on an almost daily basis in the garden - so incredibly beautiful. The humming birds were regular visitors, a little rabbit, 2 chipmunk and a black and white spotted woodpecker with a red head (I don't know what type that was). We also saw a black bear through the trees on the neighbors' property up the hill. Never saw a coyote though :( We bought an electric tea kettle and left it for you. It was our way of saying thank you for all the supplies you provided (liquid soap, trash bags, paper towels and tissues to name a few). We have stayed in many rentals throughout the world and yours was the best ever!!! Finally, none of us will ever forget the wonderful views and the family time we spent at the lovely dining table and throughout the area. Thanks again for all your help and our very best wishes to you both.
Owner response:Wow - I think you set the records for seeing the most wildlife! I guess there's not too many bears in Florida, so please come back soon to replenish your thirst for the Rocky Mountain experience and thanks for the tea kettle. The Kelleys

We had an awesome time up at Coyote Cabin this spring break. It was our 1st family vacation and the views from your house were absolutely breath taking! The kids enjoyed playing in the fresh foot of fallen snow and making snowmen and snowball fights. While us adults enjoyed the warm house and the gorgeous view from the big windows. Thanks for sharing the Coyote Cabin with us....we had a trip full of memories that will last for a lifetime! Kyle, Texas

My family just spent a week there - fabulous place! There were four generations represented - age 75 thru 3 1/2! We found plenty to do but mostly enjoyed being together hanging out - taking in the incredible views, sunshine, occasionaly storm and even the snow on July 2! We would definately go back again. Jeff really cares about this property and it shows!
Owner response:We are glad you had a great time. The Black Hawk area has so many special things to offer and it makes it even better to stay in a place that is comfortable and relaxing with beautiful views of the Continental Divide. Please come and visit us again!

I just returned from the wonderful Coyote Cabin that I shared with 5 or my high school girlfriends. It was so comfortable and inviting. The deck views were breath taking. The gambling wasn't too bad in Black Hawk, but it could always be better. I would highly recommend staying here for anyone who enjoys wonderful views and comfortable surroundings. It was such a good time. Thanks Jeff
Owner response:Thanks Pat, always good to hear our guests had a good time, even if they lost some $$$ in Black Hawk. Try again next year and win it back!

Just returned from a wonderful week at Coyote Cabin. It is very well equipped and there is so much to do in the area - we hiked, went horseback riding, Mountain biked (and have the bruises to prove it) swam at the rec center - saw dear and a bear on Dory Hill road - even did a little gambling - enjoyed the towns of Golden and Boulder - but mostly enjoyed coming back in the evenings to a beautiful starry sky (with mega meteor showers) and a comfortable place to call home. Kudos!

We just had a wonderful time at your beautiful cabin. We appreciated how well it was decorated, clean and well stocked. It was a busy place with CD's, poker, pool, and electronic games. We cooked most of our meals there and it was nice that we could all sit in the dining room and bar. Phil and I loved the Master suite and the kids loved the loft. So often places are not as nice as the pictures but your cabin was even better. There was nothing better than sitting on the deck with the beautiful view and nice cool weather. We went to the Water Park, Boulder several times, river rafting, Coors, and hiked. It was a wonderful way to celebrate our 50th anniversary with our kids and grandchildren ( ages 22 to 13). There was laughter and fun every day. What wonderful memories. We all want to come back. Thank's so much. (Coyote Cabin guests 8-1-09 to 8-8-09)

This house has plenty of room and all the necessities. Our group contained all adults and we were all able to have our own space as well as enjoy the living room, loft area and dining/kitchen as common space. Three bathrooms was a definite plus. The decks are wonderful and have a great view. We took advantage of the pool table and grill as well. The location was close to Black Hawk and the community center, which we did use to swim and exercise. Having internet access was also a plus. Would definitely stay again. We really enjoyed our stay.
Owner response:We are very glad you enjoyed your stay at the Coyote Cabin and had a fantastic time in the beautiful Colorado mountains. Please come back soon!

Coyote Cabin is an incredible paradise tucked into the woods with all the modern comforts of home. It's very hard to pick a favorite part of the house but the loft gets my vote. The views are spectacular!!!! My other favorite part of the house were all the gorgeous little lighted houses gathered above the kitchen. The house seemed to be our home!
Owner response:You were a great guest Kelly, and very brave to sleep on the deck with all the critters! Thanks for your comments. Jeff and Dawn Kelley
