My husband and I wanted to take our family on a vacation to celebrate our upcoming 25th anniversary. Since we have a son attending Colorado State University and both he and our daughter were on Spring Break the week of March 12 we chose to travel to Colorado. On advice from a friend I searched on the VRBO site for a cabin and found Coyote Cabin. The place was perfect for my husband and I, our 3 adult children and our oldest son's girlfriend. We did a lot of hiking in Golden Gate Canyon State Park, went skiing at Eldora, drove into Golden for lunch a couple of days, and spent a couple of evenings at the Ameristar in BlackHawk. The setting at Coyote Cabin is breathtaking and when not out and about in the mountains we enjoyed eating and hanging out together in the cabin. We would definitely choose to stay here again.Recommended for: Adventure seekers

We were so fortunate to be able to take a family vacation with our extended family this year (6 adults + 4 kids!) Coyote Cabin was the perfect place for us-plenty of room for everyone. The kids had a great time hanging out on the decks and up in the loft, hiking around, the views were magnificent and we loved the peace and quiet (well, as much quiet as you can have with 4 kiddos). Coyote Cabin and a Colorado adventure was just what we needed!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Hi Jeff, Just wanted to say thanks for the wonderful family time we shared in your cabin - even the young (24 and 28) enjoyed themselves. We saw Elk on an almost daily basis in the garden - so incredibly beautiful. The humming birds were regular visitors, a little rabbit, 2 chipmunk and a black and white spotted woodpecker with a red head (I don't know what type that was). We also saw a black bear through the trees on the neighbors' property up the hill. Never saw a coyote though :( We bought an electric tea kettle and left it for you. It was our way of saying thank you for all the supplies you provided (liquid soap, trash bags, paper towels and tissues to name a few). We have stayed in many rentals throughout the world and yours was the best ever!!! Finally, none of us will ever forget the wonderful views and the family time we spent at the lovely dining table and throughout the area. Thanks again for all your help and our very best wishes to you both.Owner response: Wow - I think you set the records for seeing the most wildlife! I guess there's not too many bears in Florida, so please come back soon to replenish your thirst for the Rocky Mountain experience and thanks for the tea kettle. The Kelleys

We had an awesome time up at Coyote Cabin this spring break. It was our 1st family vacation and the views from your house were absolutely breath taking! The kids enjoyed playing in the fresh foot of fallen snow and making snowmen and snowball fights. While us adults enjoyed the warm house and the gorgeous view from the big windows. Thanks for sharing the Coyote Cabin with us....we had a trip full of memories that will last for a lifetime! Kyle, TexasDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

My family just spent a week there - fabulous place! There were four generations represented - age 75 thru 3 1/2! We found plenty to do but mostly enjoyed being together hanging out - taking in the incredible views, sunshine, occasionaly storm and even the snow on July 2! We would definately go back again. Jeff really cares about this property and it shows!Owner response: We are glad you had a great time. The Black Hawk area has so many special things to offer and it makes it even better to stay in a place that is comfortable and relaxing with beautiful views of the Continental Divide. Please come and visit us again!

I just returned from the wonderful Coyote Cabin that I shared with 5 or my high school girlfriends. It was so comfortable and inviting. The deck views were breath taking. The gambling wasn't too bad in Black Hawk, but it could always be better. I would highly recommend staying here for anyone who enjoys wonderful views and comfortable surroundings. It was such a good time. Thanks JeffOwner response: Thanks Pat, always good to hear our guests had a good time, even if they lost some $$$ in Black Hawk. Try again next year and win it back!

Just returned from a wonderful week at Coyote Cabin. It is very well equipped and there is so much to do in the area - we hiked, went horseback riding, Mountain biked (and have the bruises to prove it) swam at the rec center - saw dear and a bear on Dory Hill road - even did a little gambling - enjoyed the towns of Golden and Boulder - but mostly enjoyed coming back in the evenings to a beautiful starry sky (with mega meteor showers) and a comfortable place to call home. Kudos!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

We just had a wonderful time at your beautiful cabin. We appreciated how well it was decorated, clean and well stocked. It was a busy place with CD's, poker, pool, and electronic games. We cooked most of our meals there and it was nice that we could all sit in the dining room and bar. Phil and I loved the Master suite and the kids loved the loft. So often places are not as nice as the pictures but your cabin was even better. There was nothing better than sitting on the deck with the beautiful view and nice cool weather. We went to the Water Park, Boulder several times, river rafting, Coors, and hiked. It was a wonderful way to celebrate our 50th anniversary with our kids and grandchildren ( ages 22 to 13). There was laughter and fun every day. What wonderful memories. We all want to come back. Thank's so much. (Coyote Cabin guests 8-1-09 to 8-8-09)Did you find this review helpful? This house has plenty of room and all the necessities. Our group contained all adults and we were all able to have our own space as well as enjoy the living room, loft area and dining/kitchen as common space. Three bathrooms was a definite plus. The decks are wonderful and have a great view. We took advantage of the pool table and grill as well. The location was close to Black Hawk and the community center, which we did use to swim and exercise. Having internet access was also a plus. Would definitely stay again. We really enjoyed our stay.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: We are very glad you enjoyed your stay at the Coyote Cabin and had a fantastic time in the beautiful Colorado mountains. Please come back soon!

Coyote Cabin is an incredible paradise tucked into the woods with all the modern comforts of home. It's very hard to pick a favorite part of the house but the loft gets my vote. The views are spectacular!!!! My other favorite part of the house were all the gorgeous little lighted houses gathered above the kitchen. The house seemed to be our home!Owner response: You were a great guest Kelly, and very brave to sleep on the deck with all the critters! Thanks for your comments. Jeff and Dawn Kelley

July 1st to 8th, 2008. What a wonderful vacation! We took our best friends from England, their daughter and our three daughters and couldn't have wished for a better place to make great memories. The cabin was awesome and centrally located to enable us to take day trips. We went white water rafting in Idaho Springs, shopping in Breckenridge. We went to Manitou Springs and up in the cog railway, spent a day shopping in Estes Park (can you tell we've got teenage girls) returning over Fall River Road through the Rocky Mountain National Park, and finished up on our last day with a trail ride at Sundance Stables in Nederland. We also watched the most fantastic fireworks display in Black Hawk on July 4th which is pretty funny for a load of Brits! All in all, we had the perfect mix of relaxation and fun activities. But some of the most precious memories were sitting on the deck drinking tea (hot of course),with our friends, feeding the resident chipmunk with cereal and soaking up the unbelievable mountain views. Thank you, Jeff and Dawn for sharing your home. We had the BEST time.Owner response: Thanks for the rave review Davina and family! Please come back for another holiday visit soon. Jeff and Dawn

This was our first time staying at the cabin and I must say it was an outstanding experience. I would rate the cabin and amenities (5)out(5) stars! However a "HOT TUB" would have put it over the top. Me and my family could not believe the views looking over the mountains, I took more pictures than I ever have in my life. I discovered you can not take a bad photo with these views. The other nice aspect was dealing with Jeff Kelley, he was the perfect host and made the reservation process a no hasele experience, easier than ordering a pizza. He also stayed in contact with us during our stay, keeping a close watch on the weather and had people and equipment on standby. I would highly recommend this mountain retreat to everyone, but at the same time I also want to keep it a secret place, as anyone who has stayed there would understand.Owner response: Thanks Mike, we are glad you had a great time and had plenty of snow. It sounds like your vacation was a success, and we are glad you stayed at the Coyote Cabin.

This was our second time staying in the cabin and it was great. As soon as we got into Denver it was snowing and the kids had a great time playing in the snow. Copper Mountain was a quick trip so the kids could go tubing. With so much nearby, great views from the house and a very nice and clean house to stay in, we will be back again!! We would definitely recommend this wonderful place to everyone! Thank you!!Owner response: Your timing was perfect for winter activities, glad you had a great time! Thanks for your wonderful comments. The Kelleys

WOW!! Everything turned out to be much better than we imagined! The views are spectacular! The pictures do not do the cabin or the views justice. My wife and I found plenty of things to do. White water rafting was great. Walks were fabulous! (Follow the road...it makes about a 3 mile loop.) Local restaraunts were delicious. (Especially the german restaraunt in Nederland) My wife and I can't wait to come back!! Thanks again!Owner response: Hi Matt, Great ideas for things to do! Thanks for taking time to let us know you had an excellent vacation at the Coyote Cabin. Jeff and Dawn

Coyote Cabin was a perfect place to relax after a day of hiking, swimming, or driving. The children's reaction to the "cabin" was priceless. We were all pleasantly surprised to see how beautiful the view was from every window in the cabin. The rental process went very smoothly and we would rent from Jeff & Dawn again....most definately!!!Owner response: Views of the Divide are awesome this time of year, and eaven better in the winter. Please come back again. Jeff and Dawn

What a beautiful home and perfect surroundings. I could not have asked for a better spot to spend my vacation with my family. We had three generations staying at the house and all had a great time. Mr. Kelley was a delight to work with and the house was even better that expected. I wish we had gone to the recreation center down the street earlier in the week, what a wonderful place for the kids and adults to have fun. The heated pool had a wonderful water slide that we all had fun with. Anyone who stays there will be spoiled by the views from the deck. Wow that was gorgeous. Thank you again for sharing your home with us. I would highly recommend to anyone. Christine & Mike Taylor +3 kids Jeff & Lori Taylor + 1 kid Deb Ridner + 2 kids Bob & Roseann Rocks (Grandma & Grandpa)Owner response: Gilpin County has much to offer including the nearby, newly constructed rec center, equestrian center, library, Golden Gate State Park... the list goes on. Glad you had a great time at the Coyote Cabin, a great location to take it all in. Thank you Christine and family, please come back soon. Jeff and Dawn

We stayed at Coyote Cabin the last week of July and were joined by relatives from Ventura, CA. We all brought motorcycles and fulfilled a dream of riding the mountains of Colorado. We had the best time possible and one of our pleasures was Coyote Cabin. This is a wonderful property with a million dollar view, wonderful decor and great comfort. The pool table was an added plus and we spent several evenings enjoying it. We would highly recommend Coyote Cabin to all and hope we have the opportunity of enjoying it again in the future.Owner response: We too appreciate the beauty of Colorado and hope you return soon - there is still much to see and do! To all Guest Book visitors. 3-24-05. My family and I stayed at the Coyote Cabin for a week and so far it has been our best vacation ever. We recommend it to anyone. The cabin is beautiful, is a luxury home. It is equipped with everything we needed. The surroundings are awesome. Dusty, a super nice guy who was always checking to see if we needed anything. For my family, it was something really expectacular, since we come from a city life in flat Florida. The kids loved playing in the snow, driving in the mountains and looking out for wildlife. We saw squirrels, a coyote, rabbits, and deers. We visited the Denver Downtown, Winter Park Ski Resort, we went snowmobiling at the Fraser Valley, we took the Ski Train from Denver to Winter Park. We also visited the casino at Black Hawk, tried skiing at Eldora Ski Resort (with no much luck). Took the kids sledding at a nearby park where there is a softball field. We had a tremendous time, a SUPER GREAT VACATION. Thanks to Jeff and Dawn.Owner response: Mariela, it's great to hear that your family took advantage of the many wonderful things that Colorado (and the Coyote Cabin) has to offer. You were superb guests and we hope to see you next year! Jeff and Dawn

February 8, 2005 Jeff & Dawn: After two days of snow fall, we enjoyed home made snow ice creme in front of the fireplace, bringing back many wonderful childhood memories. At night, we were amazed at how many stars filled the sky, stars you just don't see living in the city. We enjoyed the view, the wildlife and all the memories Coyote Cabin allowed us to create. Thanks for having us. Glenn, Cindy, Roger, Lynn, Jonathan, Stephanie & Norma JoOwner response: You were wonderful guests to have at the Cabin and are glad you had such a great time. My family stayed at the Coyote Cabin for 4 days to ring in the new year. I can think of no better way to have done so. The cabin is far more than a cabin...it is a luxury getaway. We spent most of our time at the cabin soaking in the breathtaking views of the mountains. I will definitely return again and again. We drove all the way from North Texas and would rate our experience much better than positive. We brought more than we needed considering how well equipped the cabin is. I look forward to my next stay....EVERYTHING was perfect!!!! Thanks Jeff!Owner response: Robert and family, we enjoyed having you stay at our mountain retreat. The Coyote Cabin is a great place to relax and enjoy the Colorado mountains. Please come back soon. The Kelleys

The house is so nice, you are lucky to have such a great place. We will definitely be repeat customers, next time we may bring more people though. The entire house is very clean and the upkeep excellent. The large deck is a real treat, providing access to the great outdoors. The small deck upstairs is nice and private as well. I believe it was Thursday night that we saw at least 30 falling stars, probably more, but at least that many. The Perseid meteor shower always occurs in August and it happened this year the 12th was the peak night. During the peak they claim you can see at least 60 per hour, maybe more depending on the area. It was cool outside, but the view made a person easily forget. It was a very relaxing time, which is what we wanted. We enjoyed the hummingbirds also. My grandmother always had hummingbird feeders in Colorado Springs. I had never seen one sit on a branch (or the edge of a feeder) until last week, it was all a special time. We felt at home the entire time. Thank you so much for making your mountain homw available as a rental, we appreciated it so much.Owner response: Thanks for such great feedback! We have really tried to make the cabin a fun place to relax and enjoy the Colorado mountains. Please come back soon. Jeff and Dawn Kelley

We had an incredible 4 day stay at the cabin. It was an hour from our home. It was the perfect weekend getaway. We stayed at the property 99% of the time. It had all the comforts of home and more. We look forward to our next trip back to the Cabin. This is in our "top 3" favorite places to go now. We would recommend this to any of our friends. We'd love to see the addition of a hot tub! That would make this the #1 place in our books!!! Garry and SusanOwner response: Thanks Garry and Susan, you were really great guests. Jeff and Dawn Kelley

My wife and I stayed at the Coyote Cabin in mid July. We found the home beautiful, clean and in excellent condition. The home is accurately dipicted as shown in the photo. And we found the furnishings to be new and luxurious. The surroundings were quiet and peacful and we enjoyed our time there. This is a very nice place and I would not hesitate to recommend it to my friends. Mr. Kelley was friendly and provided accurate directions to the home. After leaving, my security deposit check was promptly mailed back to my residence.Owner response: John, it was a pleasure to have you and your wife as our first guests!
