This was our second stay here after 3 years had elapsed. It is just as clean, bright and cheerful as on our first visit. The Port is only 2 blocks away, the bus to/from the airport is even closer and there are shops in the vicinity open at all hours so that provisioning is not difficult whatever time you arrive. Restaurants and other eating places are all close by and the Old Town with its great charm is but 5 minutes walk away. The apartment is in a town residential/business area so there is some noise from traffic except in the small hours - but that is all part of the fun of living in France for a while! The owner provided a first-class brief on our arrival and everything in the apartment was as we had hoped. I would certainly recommend this place to friends.

I have recently spent a very enjoyable few days in Nice and will be returning as soon as possible. It was a last minute decision and i was thoroughly impressed with the ease of booking and high level of information provided by Sandra making everything so easy for me. Even the bus from the airport stops a 2minute walk from the apartment. I arrived to find the apartment spotlessly clean and looking exactly as it did in the advert. It was well stocked with everything i could wish for, was very comfortable and had a large balcony to sit out on in the mornings and in the evening. The location was perfect for getting to Monaco and Cannes by public transport only 1€. The Old town is 10 minutes away and there are wonderful restaurants and boulangeries on every corner, 2 minutes from the apartment. The Port is minutes away again filled with wonderful restaurants and cosy bars. I come to Nice regularly and have stayed in many apartments. I found this one to be ideally located, comfortable and very reasonable, I willl certainly be rebooking! Jane Smith

We stayed in this apartment in May 2011 and were disappointed about most aspects of it. We decided not to submit a review. However, on a recent visit to Nice, we happened to walk past the block and were shocked (again) by its scruffiness, especially the entrance. When I re-read the advert/reviews after I came home, I felt compelled to warn would-be visitors. It is easily the shabbiest building in a mixed-use street, with educational establishments, light industry, wholesalers, and a noisy bar, as well as a motorbike parking site directly below. The opening of two more nearby bars/restaurants since our stay will surely make it noisier and the impetus to sit on the balcony even less. Inside the apartment (note there are no photos of the outside), the lighting looks good on the photos, but is inadequate. The settee looks good but is uncomfortable. As for the bar chairs, I found them unusable, and would have preferred a proper dining table and chairs. Having rented dozens of French holiday properties over the years, we found this one of the most disappointing. Here are some of the comments I sent to the owners after our May 2011 holiday (of course, some internal improvements might have been made since then): We found the apartment disappointing. I know you have no control over the entrance to the building, but it is off-putting and not a pleasure to come back to. The studio itself is easy on the eye, but difficult to relax in. The bed is comfortable but the settee and dining chairs not at all. The lighting is impractical: the red lights serve no purpose and a bedside lamp is needed. The crockery was inadequate: no cereal bowls (though that had already been commented on in the Visitors' Book), no small plates or small glasses. I actually bought some and took them home. Scissors would be handy. The coffee maker is dangerous - I nearly spilled the coffee several times. We travel light, with cabin baggage only, but found the wardrobe cramped - the drawers and ironing board leaving little room to hang clothes and only four shirt/blouse hangers anyway. It was annoying that there was an unusable, padlocked cupboard next to the bed. We did enjoy the Port area, though, and found it very easy to get to other parts of Nice and the Med. And we are impressed with the ease of booking.

Owner response: Well...i have to say i am shocked, i try to portray my apartment as realistically as i can, i don't pull punches and i take the time to meet my clients in person. However, unfortunately for me i am unable to vet the people who choose to rent my apartment. There will always be those professional complainers and out of all of my clients in the last 3 years i am pleased to say i have only had the visitors from hell the one time. The fact that it took the clients with a grudge to bear almost one year to post a very negative review just about sums them up!! Bored one weekend, "what shall we do dear, i know lets complain a year later about that awful apartment in Nice..". As i recall they arrived in big jackets and started off by complaining that it was too hot!!!! Such is life...these people exist, hopefully they will live a long and unhappy life!!!!!! Kim

My husband and I rented the apartment so we could celebrate New Year away from home. Although Nice does not have any formal celebrations , which we knew, there was a great atmosphere and the most amazing sunset to say goodbye to the old year and later , a gathering of people along the promenade, to say hello to the new year. Many had fireworks and champagne to mark the occasion. The Christmas decorations throughout the town were wonderful and provided atmospheric strolls in the evenings. Booking the studio apartment was very efficient and Sandra always responded to emails promptly. Throughout she was extremely helpful . Looking on Google Earth the street view images of the apartment and street were not encouraging but inside the studio is very clean, with good quality fittings and crockery, constant hot water, heating that can be controlled (in winter this is important eventhough it was warm and sunny most days - 17C, the evenings were cool 7C ). We ate breakfast on the balcony 4 of the 5 mornings we were there. This is a great location, 2 mins from the bus stop where the 98 bus drops you from the airport and where you also catch it for the return trip. just steps from lovely bakeries, and many cafes and bars, a good sized supermarket is just 5 mins away . 5 mins to the Old Town, 10 mins to the centre of Nice and 2 mins to the Port. As others have said the buses 100 and 200 take you all the way to Menton & Monaco and Cannes respectively for 1 euro. Amazing value ! We can highly recommend Nice in Winter. we sat on a bench on the Promenade des Anglais for an hour on January 4 and got a light suntan!

The apartment was exactly as the pictures look, a clean, well maintained and comfortable base from which you can easily explore Nice in its full glory. It is located within easy walking distance from the Port, the Old town and the beaches, for those who wish to explore further, the bus service is handy and easy to use, trips to the surrounding towns are recommended. There are many fine restaurants close at hand, the pub just down the road is great for a late night drink. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay here and would recommend it to anyone. I hope to return in the future for another great holiday.

The apartment was very small, but clean, and satisfactorily equipped. The bed was comfortable. Unlike many other French "gites", nothing was "en panne" and the kitchen was adequately supplied with useful crockery and utensils rather than the usual motley of odd glasses, spoons and egg cups. The bathroom was of a good size and having not only a washing machine but also an iron and ironing board was handy. We were a middle aged couple with different daily plans, so it was a little inconvenient that there was only one set of keys. I would hesitate to say the location was central, but once the easiest route to Place Garibaldi had been established, getting around was not too difficult. The tram system is excellent. The main thing however was not the quality or size of the apartment: it was the noise. You have to appreciate that the Nice is France's fifth biggest city and actually it is scarcely French at all. It was once an Italian city and very much remains so today. Loud, loud motorcycles, scooters and neighbours were a problem. One night the "Pub" on the corner staged ear-splitting rock music from 5 p.m. until well after midnight. It was a struggle to find restaurants that served traditional french dishes; so many being based on pasta, salads and pizzas. Chez Pipo at the end of the street was a cheap and good lunch spot and the boulangerie nearby was fine. The Intermarche supermarket was handy. Our impressions of Nice were Noise, Heat, blistered feet, a very expensive place and the sort of chaos one associates with Italy. The pebble beach and quickly shelving shoreline is not ideal for swimming.

We have recently stayed at this lovely apartment (8th - 11th April 2011) it is perfectly situated right near the port and a short walk to the old town, it is just like the photos, very clean and comfortable. We went to Monaco and Menton on Sandra's recommendation which was really nice. We caught the bus just round the corner from the apartment and it cost just 1 euro, we regretted getting a taxi from the airport when we realised how cheap and easy the buses are to use, the taxi from the airport cost 40 euro with a tip and the bus back cost 8 euros for both of us a big difference. i was a bit worried that we might struggle with the language as neither my husband or i speak french other than a few basic words, but found that they spoke very good english in the restaurants and were very friendly. The information that Sandra gave us was very helpful. We would not hesitate in going back

Just returned from a hectic week in Nice. The apartment was central for touring around the area. Did Eze, Ville Franche, Menton and museums. Thats without Nice itself which we thought fantastic. The apartment had all that was needed, especially a comfortable bed. The only draw back for us older folk is the noise from the road outside and the college at the back of the building. But this is worth putting up with for the location and comfortable apartment. Sandra at the office is most efficient and helpful. Thank you Sandra.

Owner response: Really surprised at the comment about the noise coming from the college at the back of the building. The college is well away from the apartment and is closed from May to Oct. During term time the students are only there in the day time and the only noise you are likely to hear (if any) is during their break time.

I stayed in this apartment August 2010 and I really enjoyed it. It is a compact apartment, but is very well presented and has everything that you need. It's about a 10 minute walk to the Old town where there are lots of bars/restaurants. There are restaurants and bars closer by near the apartment at the Port. Also, was very easy to book this apartment and my questions were always answered promptly. I would recommend this apartment and would return to it.

This is an ideal property for a short break in Nice. It is very well situated for strolling around Old Nice which is only 5 minutes away, or for going for a trip around the coast on the local buses for only I Euro. The property is bright and airy, clean and comfortable and has everything you need for a short stay. There are very good local food shops nearby so buying food to eat in is very easy. There is a very wide choice of restaraunts in Old Nice , by the Port and in streets near to the apartment. Travelling around by bus is very easy and cheap. Most buses go from the bus station, and it is advisable to get buses to Monaco and Menton from there as they get very full. A trip to St paul de Vance is also worthwhile, as is a short bus ride to the Matise Museum. A car is really not necessary. The owner Kim, was very helpful and contactable by text message to answer any questions. She provided us with lots of useful local information on our arrival. She was even kind enough to give us the use of her shower when the hot water in the apartment went off on our last day. 10 out of 10 for customer service. There was some local street noise but this is part of staying in a busy city and was not a problem. This is a good apartment for couples who want a sort break in a very interesting city and all it has to offer, which is a lot. The booking process was easy and efficient . Sandra in the UK office was very helpful. As there may be times when Kim is not on hand to help, a comprehensive information pack containing details of emergency contact numbers, local travel information etc. would be very useful.
