We arrived late last Saturday afternoon. We enjoyed a campfire every night except for Friday. We sat in the cabin and listened to the Brewer Game. Go Brewers. We went fishing on both lakes, went canoeing and used the paddleboat. Never saw the snapping turtle, but don't really want to see it either. Saw a deer walking down the trail and took a picture of it. We drove to the U.P. and toured a little museum just south of Iron River. Also went to the logging museum in Rhinelander. Both museums were interesting. We went fishing at Little Bearskin Lake, Lake Katherine, and Long Lake. Josh caught a large mouth bass and a small mouth bass. Went fishing at Torpy Park in Minocqua and caught some blue gill, a pumpkin seed and a small mouth bass. Just did catch and release so we didn't have any fish fry's this week. Thank you for a very nice vacation in the Northwoods.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We had a great week. It is 5:30 a.m. on Saturday. The week flew past -as all time in the woods does. We arrived last Sat. We had two NWoods nites, nice and cool. After that we say thank you for the A/C. The locals really complain when it is 80 and humid - they obviously have not been to Bloomington! We did coffee on the porch every morning but today. I don't recommend the sauna if the day will get HOT because the residual heat lasts for hours and makes the porch too hot. In the cooler months, it must be real nice. We biked, hiked and relaxed. The girls went frogging on the pond. I finally jumped in for a swim. My youngest wanted to get in also. Just as I was about to step down on the ladder - Jurassic Park broke out. That is one big snapping turtle. He has been called many things, but we named him Charles. Charles runs away if you step in the water. He currently has a prominent leech on his back. Otherwise, we caught 5 pan fish on ultralight & hot dogs. The neighbor rode through one day on her Arabian. She rode bareback and had an Australian Shepherd with her. Nice lady. I created ever expanding rode bike courses. Steele Road is really hard, lots of sand & gravel. I found the East Wind, maybe Second Wind up Horsehead Lake Rd. very nice and close for lunch & dinner. We canoed both lakes. They are well suited to our skill level. The girls went to Rhinelander to shop on several occasions. We also took a trip to Little Bohemia to satisfy my stargazed bride. Not much different than it was 45 years ago when I first saw it. We had great desserts at Michaels, which is just south of Little Bohemia. We will miss King's Cottage and take away happy memories.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Jumped in bog on arrival for wonderful swim. During week we camped at back bog, fished, swam, rode paddle boat, hiked Bearskin Trail, and relaxed in the comfort of this special place. Thank you so much for sharing your quaint cottage with us. Will be back soon.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

I stayed in the Kind Cottage for 2 1/2 months and it was great. I has a work assignment at the local hospital and the commute was only about 5 minutes! Perfect location for running or biking as the house is located near several great trails. The house was lovely and the owner very accommodating! I would highly recommend it.Recommended for: Pet owners.
