Welcome to Hale La`akea, “House of Light”. This Kauai vacation home rental is just a block away from miles of pristine, white sand beaches. Situated on the sunny West side of the beautiful Garden Island, in the peaceful plantation community of Kekaha. Hale La’akea features a private, fenced and landscaped yard with lush plumeria, mango and cocunut trees; a perfect spot for breakfast, or an evening barbecue. The fully equipped kitchen and the adjoining dining room is perfect for indoor entertaining and dining as well. Each of the two bedrooms feature a french door leading out into the fenced patio and garden area. In addition to the two bedrooms, there is a sunroom that offers a couch and a daybed for additional sleeping accommodations. The home is furnished 'Island Style' with hardwood floors, tile and sea grass floor coverings, ceiling fans and ventilating windows to keep the interior cool and comfortable. Hale La'akea has 1 1/2 baths, as well as a private, refreshing outdoor shower. Perfect, after a long day at the beach! The house also has free wifi.

If you are thinking that you will be staying at the Westin and expecting room service...this is not for you. If however, you are looking for a delightful residence in the middle of a typical Hawaiian town, we hardily recommend this property. The place is old but you can tell that it is well cared for. When you drive up to the property you are overwhelmed by the fragrance of the plumeria tree in the side yard and the 10' jasmine hedge running down the side of the property. The yard is very private and a great place to enjoy and outdoor shower. The kitchen is as you expect it would be when sugar was king. Walk a block to the beach. The one drawback that we found was that the climate is dry, very similar to that where we come from in Colorado. Kendall, thank you for a wonderful vacation but next time you do not have to give us a tsunami.Recommended for: Girls getaway, families with young children, sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, tourists without a car, romantic getaway.
