We actually looked forward to getting back from hiking - this beautifully situated house was one of the best we've ever rented. Plenty of open space for a group, yet comfortable throughout. The owners have considered every need and comfort and furnished their house with taste and quality. From the linens to the appliances to the entertainment and electronics - all high-end and in great shape. Highly recommended.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Whether you're looking for an wonderfully over-sized house for for two, or you're traveling as a family, this house is perfect!! My boyfriend and I stayed here for a weekend in October to 'leaf-peep' and hike throughout Acadia. We could not have been happier with our visit. The pictures just don't do this house justice! Not only is the interior everything you would want for a vacation rental (in the sense it doesn't at all feel like a vacation rental :) - it really does feel like a 'home away from home'), the surroundings of the house are equally impressive. Between fire pits on the deck (or private beach), breakfast at the picnic table overlooking the bay, or star-gazing at night, this house offers everything you need for a retreat in the Bar Harbor/ Acadia area. Scott was great to work with - we're definitely planning to stay here again in the future!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

I can only say that Scott was more than helpful. He went over and beyond working with us. The place was so clean and nice. Peaceful yet close to everything. We were there oct 14th-22. The foliage was beautiful. Thanks for a wonderful timeRecommended for: Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, families with young children, tourists without a car, pet owners, girls getaway.

I cannot imagine how our stay could have been better. What a delightful house with post and beam construction, new and tasteful furniture, fenced in yard, beautiful views, great shoreline, wonderful master suite that I could spend my whole visit in. All sorts of little extras - lots of closet space, three tvs (two with lots of stations) with a selection of DVD's, also books, great bedding, two nice decks, paper products provided. The pictures on line do not do justice to the home which is beautiful, clean and well maintained. We had good communications with the owner who provided a helpful book of house and area information. We would recommend this property to anyone and would definitely stay again. It did take about 15-20 minutes to get to Bar Harbor; but the quiet and seclusion were worth it.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

This house was a perfect setting for our multi-generational family vacation. We stayed with my parents and brother and sister-in-law and our young children. The views of the water were phenomenal to wake up to and you could hear the water lapping the shore as you fell asleep. The rocky beach was a great place to spend time during the day or have a campfire at night and the kids loved walking far out to discover starfish and other sea creatures when the tide went out. The fenced yard allowed the kids and dogs to have a safe place to play when we weren't at the shore. It is very convenient to Acadia Park which provides countless hiking, biking or boating options and also close to Bar Harbor for evening fun or shopping opportunities. This was our first trip to Maine but we're hoping it won't be our last and we would definitely recommend this house to anyone looking for a peaceful yet adventure-filled vacation with the family!Did you find this review helpful? Our family thoroughly enjoyed Western Bay Shores. The property was spotless when we arrived and very well stocked. Scott was a pleasure to work with and had many helpful suggestions for things to do. He was very accessible to answer any questions we had. The fenced yard is perfect for those with younger children (even though ours are older), and the beach is great to explore, especially at low tide! Our boys loved the third floor room which they dubbed "the treehouse." The nearby supermarket and lobster pounds were especially convenient, especially since the market opens at 5:00 am!!! Great hiking in Acadia and fabulous views on the beach rounded out our experience. Thanks Scott and Daria for sharing your wonderful home!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

We rent in Maine every year, and this year wanted to spend more time in Acadia. We feel very fortunate to have found this gem of a rental. Everything you read in the listing is spot on, and the photos, as attractive as they are, do not do it justice. First, the location - it is perfection. Close to the little town of Ellsworth, to Bar Harbor and of course to Acadia National Park. Waterfront with views of Western Bay from most of the house. A classic Maine rocky shoreline, perfect to explore the tidal pools and to picnic and read. Paradise, really. The house blends perfectly into the environment, with two outdoor decks, a fenced yard, pretty landscaping. The living space is roomy, the kitchen is a dream to work in, with bay views on two sides, and equipped with everything! The whole house is well equipped for a relaxing experience, from the furniture to the linens to the media to the grill and fire pit. The decor is lovely, with little special touches here and there like a bird feeder in a bedroom window. It's an excellent home base to launch daily adventures, and oh so comfortable if you just want to relax at home. The house is clean and well-maintained. We enjoyed every moment of our time here and hope to come back again. It's truly a special place.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 3/3

We had such a wonderful time at this coastal Maine vacation home! We were here the last week in June and from start to finish it was one the best home rental we have stayed in. The owner was super professional and responsive during the booking promise and in a day where I am used to people over promising and under-delivering this placed truly went beyond every expectation I had. The inside of the house is STUNNING and spotlessly clean. High ceilings, tons of beams, loads of light and plenty of space for our whole crew to crash. The place is huge and it was wonderful because it felt like we really all had our own space. They have thought of everything: games, spices, high end towels and bedding, Wi-Fi, fire pit, fenced in yard, brand new laundry set up, sparkling grill, picnic table 10 feet from the beach. I am so happy we picked this place! The views are amazing and our young son loved getting up in the morning and being right on the shore. The decks were large and well-appointed and we really spent most of our time outside enjoying the views! It was so easy to get to right into downtown Bar Harbor and Acadia. They also provided an awesome welcome binder with every flyer, park map and recommendation you could ever need. I didn’t even need to have brought my laptop to plan our days! One of my favorites was the master bedroom suite. It has a large sitting area, huge king bed, flat screen, awesome views of beach out front and a ginormous master bath. All in all we give the place an A+++ and we will definitely be back!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 6/6
