A vacation spot that you will not want to leave is Nighthawk. We had a amazing stay in this beautiful home that accomodated 8 people that allowed us plenty of space to spread out. LOVE the deck in the back if you want peace and quiet you need to stay here. Owners are very passionate about making your stay here comforatble. My daughter who is 6 continues to ask when are we going back to that wonderful home in Taos. If Taos is our ski destination for spring break I couldn't imagine staying anywhere else.

Nighthawk is a very special place - even after 7 visits. This home in Taos is a one-stay manifestation of our unique South West - unity of color, culture, geology and geography, and of course art and architecture and cuisine, sunrises and sunsets. Eclectic yes but blended in warm beautiful ways. Now I need to stay a few more times to figure out why the sun rises in the west over the mountains and sets across the eastern plain!

Our rental experience at Nighthawk was truly wonderful. The pictures of the home's interior do not fully capture the open layout and great amenities of the home. And the views are spectacular from jsut about every room! The house has everything you could want while being close enough to town and the ski mountain. You'll be extremely happy with your decision to stay outside of town every time you look out the window. It was my first time to Taos and this location and this house in particular are truly a gem. The owner could not have been nicer and more accomodating and the property managers were extremely repsonive and attentive to a couple minor issues we encountered with the extreme cold that we encountered the week we were there. I've rented dozens of homes on Homeaway and VRBO over the years and this is one I would HIGHLY recommend and one I'll definitely be visiting again.

Our family of 5 had a great winter vacation in Taos. The house is beautiful and the surrounding views are awesome. We loved the house decoration, big windows and roomy spaces. My 83 y/o mom who came with us loved reading in the sun room. The house is on private hilly road and we had a little bit scary moments driving up and down when the road got icy. Renting 4WD in winter time as the owner recommended is definitely a better idea. All in all, we enjoyed our stay!

Owner response: We are very pleased that you enjoyed your stay. As you say, the access road requires careful driving when there has been moisture and sustained cold. The road is less than a half mile but there is a short hill. The up and the down can be slippery. Most residents do it with front wheel drive cars most of the time even in winter, but 4wd is better during winter. Thanks again for renting Nighthawk.

Beautiful, well-kept house with views of Taos and surrounding mountains. Close to town, hiking, and good food. We felt very comfortable and relaxed at the house, and enjoyed exploring Taos as well. We would definitely recommend this house to a friend or relative.

My family and friends have greatly enjoyed this home about 10 different times during the past 7 years. The home is totally comfortable with all necessary amenities. The views from all angles are beautiful. Sitting on the eastern deck one can view the entire panorama of Taos town and the Santo de Christo mountains in the background. To the north is Taos Ski mountain with stunning views from the front deck of the house. The home is kept in superb condition with all systems working perfectly while we have been there. The WiFi has been upgraded recently and functions well. A few friends who join us for our annual "Taos Seminar" insist on renting this home each year. I would recommend this home to anyone who seeking good value.

We have made several memorable visits to Taos and each time we have stayed at Nighthawk. It is a wonderful place with spectacular unobstructed views of the town and the mountains in the distance. Our favorite times were early morning sunrise and evening sunsets - viewed from the wonderful deck. The house is comfortable with a convenient layout including easy access to the deck, and all the conveniences that one could want. The property was very well-maintained and clean. The owners obviously have put a lot of effort into making it nice - and keeping it that way. While it is very quiet - with the exception of the occasional coyote - it is only minutes from town. We enjoyed poking around Taos and Arroyo Seco (and especially visiting the Taos Cow for great ice cream). Nighthawk is a great jumping off point for hiking and biking, and we enjoyed both - including a ride up to the Taos Ski Area. In short, a great place to stay. We would recommend it to friends and relatives, and wish we could visit more often.

This is a great house! We stayed for a few days during a trip across New Mexico. The house provided a perfect and hard to find combination of reasonable price, wonderful vistas--hours were spent just watching the changing light on the mountains and Taos valley--good-looking and very comfortable interior with plenty of spaces to spread out, privacy with convenience to town, and to Taos’ very special museums and hikes. The house was easy to use– everything works, including a good internet, there were no endless searches for light switches or other fundamentals—and lots of special extras, like the magnificent deck, bright sun room and cozy fireplace. A definite find.

Well, first let me say that there is no bad place to stand on the property, front or back, on either side, all because of a panoramic that is, as I say in the title, breathtaking. As to the house, with all the windows opening up to the valley below, it is terrific. The house is first class as the photos suggest. I had a family party for our 40th wedding anniversary. We had such a good time on the expansive deck. I could spot some local places, but not my favorite place, the Alley Cantina with some wonderful music and a llama eating from a window flower box as we exited. I kid you not, but he may have departed by now.. My favorite early morning activity is to take the back way into town, buy a newspaper, go back and make a cup of coffee and sit in the hot tub while it is still cool, looking out on the scenery. Simply the best activity one can do in my opinion. There's lots to do in Taos and I'm a big fan of the state from Albuquerque to Santa Fe to Taos.

When I entered the house, I just wanted to sit down and absorb that view. From every angle it was spectacular and the siting and design of the house makes the most of the dramatic and soul-restoring scenery. We had a wonderful stay and would return in a heartbeat. The house is spacious, comfortable and most welcoming. It is beautifully and interestingly furnished with an international ethnic flare. Besides soaking in the view and loving the peace and privacy of the house, we did manage to pull ourselves away and drive into charming Taos to a fun farmer's market, hiked part of the beautiful Santa Barbara trail, walked along the edge of the Rio Grande, visited art communities in the mountains ..... talked about wanting to return to this lovely home and experience this piece of magic in different seasons. Talked about sharing it with family and friends. We highly recommend this lovely home, this lovely setting.

About the owner: We bought this wonderful house after seeing it once. Nothing compared. The views of the mountains and the Ranchitos Valley pastures were compelling, like the cover of a Louis L'Amour novel. There are very few houses like this one in Taos, perched on the mesa's edge. In 2003 we built a second living/studio room with huge window views, and an adjoining office space. It is an easy drive to the Ski Valley and to Taos Plaza (12 minutes) and to wonderful hiking trails. Our favorite is the Santa Barbara trail about 45 minutes south. The drive to Santa Fe is less than 90 minutes from the house to the Plaza.
