We came to West Seattle to celebrate our grandson's 4th birthday. He loved exploring the backyard, watching the fish, and playing in the "secret hiding places" upstairs. We enjoyed the abundance of character and charm in this spacious home. The quiet location is close to wonderful restaurants, Alki Beach, West Seattle shops, and all the attractions of downtown Seattle. We would love to return when the weather is warmer to fully appreciate the spectacular backyard. We leave with many fond memories of our stay in this lovely home.

Our family hated to leave this gorgeous house. The furnishings are lovely and there is plenty of room for everyone. My daughter loved the goldfish pond and waterfall in the backyard as well as the secret hiding places upstairs. The location was great for exploring--Pike's Market, Lemay Car Museum, Point Defiance Park, Lincoln Park etc. but yet very quiet. We got to visit our favorite breakfast place Luna Park Cafe too. The fireplace was well used while relaxing in evening and the kids liked having the office to work on school work. Max & Janelle were so great to work with. We can't wait to come back!!

We truly enjoyed our stay at this peaceful location. We traveled to West Seattle to attend a baptism and join several other family members in celebration. This home was a perfect retreat with comfortable furnishings, room to spread out, and relaxed gathering areas. We appreciated the comfortable bedding, and the home felt very cozy for our winter stay. There was even a fantastic office which my son made use of as he studied for final exams. This home had everything we needed and then some. The location is quiet, the owners are very attentive, and we really relaxed there. We only wish we could have stayed longer!

So pleasantly surprised by the Fauntleroy home! Beautiful and modern and vintage all together. Our 3 generations of family for Thanksgiving immediately made ourselves at home. All modern conveniences with a short drive, everything you could need to nest at home. An amazing kitchen for the avid chef as well as a good viewing seat for the novice. Our host, Maxx was helpful with a heating malfunction. We look forward to many more Seattle visits and would highly recommend this lovely home to anyone planning a trip.

This place is very comfortable for large groups and we loved the serene back yard. We would love to stay here again if we make it back to this city.

The home owners live in the downstairs portion of the house. It did make us feel a little uncomfortable knowing they were right below us, and we could tell, we didn't feel totally at home with them so close. We said good morning to Max one early morning, but got the cold shoulder and a quick glance. Maybe he was having a bad day, but we felt very awkward after that, and just stayed in the city most of the day. The home is indeed beautiful, and the yard is unbelievably gorgeous. The house is super close to the downtown area, and if you take 99 instead of I-5, it's much faster. Trying to go to the east end of town between the hours of 3 - 6 will get you 10 miles in about an hour or so. Crazy traffic in Seattle. Not sure if I would pay this much for another vacation home that has owners on property, but it's a good lesson learned when renting someones home. One important note, the house is not handicap accessible, my mother was in a wheelchair and had a hard time climbing the front entrance stairs, but there is a downstairs bedroom once your in the home, that was nice for her.

Owner response: We work hard to make sure all of our guests have a comfortable and memorable stay at our property. Even Sharon's party loved the house and gardens and left a note with us saying they had a great time. Knowing we won't be able to please all of the people all of the time, our chances of meeting or exceeding your expectations are that much better if you read through the description of our property on the website and ask any questions that will help in making your decision to stay. We appreciate the opportunity to serve you. Janelle and Max

The pictures give a great description of the house and gardens. The house was very welcoming. The private little kooks (Harry Potter type cubby-holes off the upstairs bedrooms), and other quiet areas around the house delighted everyone. The was especially welcomed as we had eight (ages 12 - 64) at the house for a family wedding . Everyone ended up in the kitchen and living room as a gathering place in the evenings. I especially enjoyed the rocking chairs with a cup of tea in the morning. The gardens are amazing. The garden area was perfect for hosting our daughter's rehearsal dinner (20 guests). Our guests couldn't say enough good things about the house. Our only regret is that we didn't have more time to enjoy the house. It is perfect for a getaway, family vacation, or hosting wedding activities. Janelle and Max are great hosts. They went out of their way to make sure that everything was perfect. Janelle was especially helpful with the rehearsal dinner.

Just returned from a trip here with my family, including our two young children. Truly an exceptional place with generous and thoughtful hosts. My family and I had such a wonderful time at this beautiful house. It really was an oasis and we'd stay again in a heartbeat. I'm currently wishing we'd stayed longer. Our hosts went above and beyond in accommodating our family and provided great information about the area. I highly recommend this property for anyone looking for a wonderful stay in Seattle. Very close to great spots in West Seattle and couldn't be closer to the West Seattle Bridge to get downtown. Ferry from the harbor also super close. Loved the coffee at Java Bean and breakfast at Luna Park just down the hill (portions are huge, though!)

I recently had family come to town (5 adults, 4 children) to visit, so we needed some space. Not only did we get an unbelievable amount of space, but this house was absolutely gorgeous! Full of character, a wonderfully landscaped backyard, fantastic kitchen, large deck with a bbq area, all tucked away on West Seattle's north east side, just minutes away from everything. If anything, the description of this house undersells how great it is. With 9 people, we never felt like we were tripping over each other. Plenty of sleeping areas, eating areas, resting areas and just plain ol' areas. The owners were wonderful to deal with, and the house was great. I couldn't be happier with my experience. One thing of note, if you're planning on getting around town for some sight seeing, you'll definitely want a vehicle. All the main spots (Seattle Center, Pike Place Market, downtown, waterfront, Alki beach) are all just a few short minutes (literally) by car. I would highly recommend this to anyone I know who's looking for a rental place for 5+ people.

Well equipped and beautiful house. We loved BBQ-ing on the deck and relaxing on the giant couch! Brits need a kettle for our tea though! (The house now has a whistling tea kettle. Thank you) Thank you for a wonderful stay - what a lovely house and great start to our US trip. Great waterfall (Sam age 5) Thanks for the picture books.

Janelle and Max are very gracious hosts and the house, while spacious enough to accommodate my large family , is inviting, cozy, and very family friendly! I encourage any and all individuals looking for a clean, classically decorated and comfortable place to stay inquire about this property. As I said, Janelle and Max are willing to go the extra mile to make sure your stay is exactly what you dreamed it would be. My family will definitely be enjoying their house in our future Seattle trips!
