  This was a very clean property. Comfortable beds. Within walking distance of everything. Nice outside deck for relaxing. Quiet, gated location. Plenty of beach towels, chairs, and umbrella. Great communication with the owners. All kitchen necessities. Parking. Everything we needed was covered.

  Recommended for: Age 55+, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

  The Rooster Retreat accomodations were clean and appropriately furnished for our needs. All but one of our activities was within walking distance of the condo including Fort Zachary Beach. The owners of the condo provided chairs and beach towels which was a huge savings on rental of these items. If your a nature lover I would recommend the Botonical gardens and the Butterfly Conservatory. Like to cook? Get your fresh seafood and grill it on the deck of the condo.

  This condo was the absolute perfect location! We were able to be close enough to the action yet we came home to a quiet oasis. We walked everywhere...no need for cabs or cars! Marie is the most kind considerate owner I have ever rented from on VRBO! She went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. Loved having all the beach towels and chairs to use! You will not be disappointed with your stay at rooster retreat! I highly recommend staying here!!

  This was our first trip to Key West we are thrilled with our choice of places to stay. Not only is this condo warm and inviting, but we felt very safe in this gated area. The location is close to all the action, but also close to Zachary Park, swimming in the Gulf, and in the middle of beautiful walking and biking byways. We like the end unit because it has extra light. One thing we do have to mention, we were unaware that the roosters crow throughout the day - it was a blast

  Did the Key West Ironman and stayed here. perfect location and quiet.. Came early and left late and the owner was very fair about that..

  We stayed in Marie and Tom's condo the first week of December. Marie was very accommodating, easy to communicate with, and very helpful in recommending restaurants, etc. The condo is central located, a few blocks off Duval. We didn't rent a car, or bikes, so did a lot of walking! The best restaurants are just blocks away - Blue Heaven for the all around best dining experience, La Creperie for breakfast/lunch, Santiago Bodega for tapas, and Kelly's for happy hour and a beautiful dining garden (food good too!) The condo is immaculately kept, very nice furnishings - nice shower, comfortable beds, great ceiling fans. Although we didn't use it, the kitchen is nicely equipped. Being an artist, I appreciated a couple of pieces of original art on the walls - especially the roosters watercolor. BTW, there are lots of roosters running around this island - entertaining and beautiful. Can't wait to get to my easel! This is a great unit, great value, and great owners.   Great location to walk to most attractions and short bike ride to the beach. Comfy beds with excellent kitchen and nice pool on the property. A few steps away from all THE ACTION but a quiet place to sleep and relax. Plenty of historical sites to visit, many different great places to eat, and so much musical entertainment every night in all the various bars. Rooster's Retreat is the Best! We would recommend this property and would love to revisit Green Parrot, Schooner, Conch Republic, Irish Kevin's, Duffy's, Griffs, Hard Rock, Fort Zachary, Mel Fischer Museum, Truman White House, Hemingway's Home and the daily Sunset Celebration!

  My husband and I just returned from our week long stay in Key West. We made an excellent choice in renting this condo. Rooster Retreat is in a great location making enjoying Key West by bike (as we do) easy! The condo itself had all you would need for a great stay, the new kitchen was re-done very nicely, the furnishings and decor are comfortable and tasteful, and the extras like the grill, cooler, beach towels and chairs are great additions. The condo is every bit as it is described to be! We had a great time biking to Ft. Zachary Taylor beach (backyard basically), as well as down to Blue Heaven for breakfast, and Colombian Grace-a new find for us, and highly recommended. Just down Whitehead is The Little White House (another recommendation) and the Key West Lighthouse and Hemingway House, and the nightlife of Duval is only 3 blocks away. Tom and Marie as well as their property manager were wonderful in making sure our stay was comfortable and that we had everything we could need. Even with Tropical Storm Isaac approaching on our checkout date, we didn't want to leave. Thanks for everything and we truly hope we can visit Rooster Retreat again soon.

  We were looking for last minute accomodations, and luckily found this great condo. The condo was very clean, comfortable, and really nice beds and linens! The condo owners as well as the property manager were readily available to help meet our needs and answer any questions. I would definitely return for another visit! We were on the go the entire trip, and didn't do much relaxing, but the back yard was very inviting, and we actually did use the grill to cook our catch of the day (lobsters!) You can wander straight out on foot to the action, yet you felt far enough away for some peace if you wanted. My husband walked out to a spot behind the condo for daily early morning fishing with some locals.

  My partner and I love Key West and have managed to make it down every year for the last several. We found a great cottage this time and will definitely be coming back! The place is wonderfully detailed (none of the outdated pastel colors, uncomfortable wicker seats, or dusty seashells typical of many places in Truman Annex). The leather couch, breakfast bar stools, and great decor made for an even more relaxing time. There is even a grill outside (a bit on the small side), but works perfectly well for two people. If there's availability, I'd book your vacation here.

  3 of us - my best friend, my girlfriend and I - stayed here during the first week of July. We had a blast with all the activities available within walking distance - snorkeling, scuba-diving, jet skiing... Everything was just fantastic. We tried out about 10 different food places, and just about every one of those was a hit for all three of us. The condo was a great place to come back to and relax - inside or in the back, where we were hidden from the roasting sun. The beaches were barely populated, the water was warm, and everything just came together for a perfect place to get away from it all. Definitely would come back here in the future, thanks a lot for having us!

  . We had the pleasure of staying at Rooster Retreat in Truman Annex Shipyard Condos in Key West. The location is top notch. You can walk everywhere that you want to go and also park your car practically right outside your door. Rooster retreat was a very nicely furnished, quiet end unit with very comfortable new beds and nicely appointed linens.. The best part is the back deck was great to relax on or have meals. It is verytrnanquil and private, yet a short walk to the pool. Kitchen is well stocked and there is a full size washer and dryer which cuts down on packing. The owners, Tom and Marie were a pleasure to work with regarding renting their unit This is one of the better located and furnished units that we have stayed at in this complex. We are looking forward to planning our next trip back to rooster retreat in Key West. There are many really good restaurants a few blocks away.

  Stop looking. We have stayed many places in Key West. This is the best location, cleanest, and well stocked kitchen. I like to cook everyday. Every piece of kitchen equipment is here. There is an electric and gas grill on the deck. First floor units offer the best outdoor living. The owners went out of their way to assure my husband's surprise birthday trip to Key West was the best birthday ever. Some day I will learn to pack less and take advantage of the in unit washer and dryer. All of the linens are upgraded to make a luxury feel to your whole trip. You can walk everywhere. This trip we even learned how to use the local bus. We still rent a car but because of the great location of this unit on our next visit we may give up the car. If there was anything missing the owners would have jumped to obtain, but this is the best in Truman Annex. Feel free to contact the owners for our contact information .
