Don’t look at the beach from a distance! Be on the beach the whole time you stay at our Anderson Island Vacation home! Enjoy the saltwater view of South Puget Sound as well as the magnificent sunsets over the Olympic Mountains from this historic, over the water home that is fully appointed with a full kitchen, washer and dryer, as well as bedding for 9. Our expansive deck allows you to have that early morning breakfast in the warm sun or evening dinners watching boats and sunsets over the Olympic Mountains. Eagle Island is framed in the large floor to ceiling picture windows of the living room appointed with leather couch and chair as well as a pellet stove for those cooler days. It’s fun to just sit and watch all the different sailboats, yachts, tugs pulling log booms or pushing barges, or an occasional coast guard cutter going by. This home, known by the locals as “Johnson's Landing “ was once a place where old steam ships restocked with wood and groceries on their trips from Olympia to points north in the Puget Sound and the Pacific. It is built on the pilings over the water and has been completely remodeled. There is not another home like this on the whole island or in all of the Northwest. The local Anderson Island General Store is about 5 minutes away with gas and groceries as well as a nice coffee shop right next door. The island has massage practitioners, and caterers. On island there is a beautifully manicured 9-hole golf course, a restaurant, and a museum/gift shop. There are hiking trails at various parks as well as a public swimming area on a fresh water lake. This Island is so quiet that you can walk or ride bikes down the roads and rarely see a car. Bring your kayaks (or rent them on the island at Anderson Island Kayaks), walk down 5 steps from our deck, and you are on the water paddling in one of Puget Sound’s most scenic waterways. Watch and listen to the resident seals just off Eagle Island, and if you are lucky you will see Orca Killer Whales, dolphins, or other kinds of whales come to the surface. Eagles and sea birds are abundant and clamming is also possible. So take the ferry out to Anderson Island and see why this is one of the Northwest’s best kept secrets.

Our Anderson Island property is on pilings over the beach that depending on the tide is either over the saltwater or over the beach. Eagle Island is a state park located 150 yards out in the water directly offshore where you can see lots of seals, seabirds, and Eagles and if you are lucky you might see whales or dolphins.
Year Purchased: 1970
About: After we moved to the Northwest known for it's fantastically protected salt water cruising grounds we bought a sailboat to explore with. We cruised all around the Puget sound from Olympia to Vancouver Island. This is a great place for boating! With jobs and family however we finally sold the boat but still wanted to be near the water. After a long search we found it. It was a historic property that used to have a dock whereby old steamships would resupply with wood and groceries on their way back and forth in the Puget sound. We hired an architect to remodel it but kept the old building inside it's walls. The locals still know it as 'the old Johnsons Landing'. We now could stay on the water but didn't have to worry about anchoring or storms or having enough room for friends. Peacefull, Quiet, and what a view!
Why Anderson Island: This allowed us to have all the kids friends and families come visit. Our family could enjoy all the Puget Sound had to offer and share it too. Our kids could go boating, swimming, fishing, sailing, diving and we even water skiied. We could have parties or just kick back and watch the beautiful sunsets over the Olympic Mountains and it was just a short ferry ride away from Tacoma, Seattle, or Olympia. Anderson Island is a quiet Island that still has the charm of older days where people still wave when you drive, bike or walk by.
The Unique Benefits at this House: If I haven't already stated this enough, having a place that is so close to the water opens up so many opportunities that you can't help but have a nice relaxed vacation for you and your family!
