Owner info
Year Purchased: 2009
About the owner: We live in Poquoson VA and have vacationed with our family in the Outer Banks for years before discovering the beauty of Hatteras Island. We fell in love with Rodanthe and finally found our “Dream Beach Cottage” back in 2009. We spend many (many) weekends working on the house to keep it clean and in good repair so our guest will can have an affordable vacation while enjoying to tranquility of beautiful beaches and slower pace of Hatteras Island.
Why the Owner Chose Rodanthe:
Water sports are popular on the shores of this beach because of the great winds the Southern Outer Banks gets. If you've already tried the amazing sport of wind surfing or kite boarding, then you probably bring your own boards. For those looking to get in on the action, REAL Kite boarding offers lessons for the sport indigenous to the Outer Banks. Or, if you just need rentals, you can find most any kind of water sport equipment at the shop. The Chicamacomico Life Saving Station provides education entertainment with their museum. They also perform re-enactments of life saving venture each week. Environmentalist enjoy the wildlife refuge just north of the area, where many different species of birds call home. No matter what you're after, you'll find it in Rodanthe.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
In 2002, Nicholas Sparks published the book Nights in Rodanthe that was later adapted into a movie. George C. Wolfe directed this film adaptation, which was partially filmed in the town of Rodanthe and entirely filmed in eastern North Carolina – including Cape Hatteras, Southport and Wilmington. The movie was released on September 26, 2008. Several Rodanthe landmarks such as the Rodanthe Pier were used during filming. During film production, one of the rental houses, Serendipity, the north-easternmost house in Rodanthe, was transformed into the fictional Inn at Rodanthe. This house was damaged and condemned after a Nor'easter storm in November 2009. The house was saved from demolition by a private business man from Newton, N.C. and moved less than one mile south
