Fuchsia Cottage is located in beautiful Caherdanial on the famous Ring of Kerry. The area has the most spectacular scenery, and there are four fantastic beaches close to the house, one within two-minute walk.
The house itself has been carefully restored, now offering a very comfortable, well-equipped cottage, with stunning gardens and uninterrupted sea views over Kenmare Bay. In 2007, an adjacent annex in the Garden has been converted to studio unit with double fold down Bed, Living area with TV/DVD, compact kitchenette, and Shower/ WC. This adds an additional option of 2 extra guests. In the cottage, the main lounge is very well furnished, and has large sliding patio doors leading to the garden/patio area. The gardens are not overlooked. There is off road parking for two cars.
The area itself has very many attractions including:
* Golf at Waterville (15 minutes); regulars include Tiger Woods, Joe Montana, and Wayne Hyzuenga
* Parknasilla (20 minutes) and Kenmare (40 minutes)
* Horse riding available at Eagle Rock Equestrian Centre (five minutes)
* Pubs and restaurants are located in Caherdanial village, Waterville, Sneem, and Kenmare
* The two local Pubs in Caherdanial are "Freddies" and "The Blind Piper" (music at selected nights/weekends) and you are assured of a great welcome in both
* Swimming, sailing, waterskiing, and a variety of water sports are available at Derrynane Beach (five minutes)
* Historical attractions include Derrynane House and Gardens, home of the famous liberator Daniel O Connell, and Staigue Fort, 5000-year-old ring fortress very well preserved
* Hill walking is also very adjacent on the famous marked path, "The Kerry Way"
* There are daily boat trips to the marvellous "Skellig Islands," where you can view ancient Monastic settlements' one can land on Skellig Michael and have a guided tour/talk on the restored Monks settlement, which is conducted by the actual restoration staff |
