We loved our stay here and hope to come back again. This little gem is perfectly situated on a cliff overlooking a mostly private beach, right on the Pacific Ocean. There is newly constructed beach access right in the back yard that is easily navigable on the way down; however, the last steps at the bottom are a little dicey going down. There wasn’t any public access to the beach below, only homeowners or renters would have access from the houses above, which makes it a very private and quiet beach. The house is nestled in between the state parks on one side and Bastendorf Beach on the other. We enjoyed the beaches and seeing all kinds of wild and sea life: Seals, a goose family, seagulls, sea anemones, mussels, orange, purple-ish, and red starfish. The kitchen had several items already there such as salt, pepper, other spices, rice, etc. Remember ice! The windows in the living room were great to sit and watch the oceans and the boats go by. We rinsed off the windows with the hose after a morning of fog and rain and it vastly improved the view. We bought fresh fish down at the market by the bridge and had delicious salmon and cod for dinners. The fish was just delicious. The two bedrooms are spaced apart and private. The upstairs, master bedroom has its own bathroom with a long, double vanity and a sunk-in tub that one steps down into from floor level. It’s huge and deep. The bed in the master bedroom is a double bed and was not great for two people. There is a deck off of the master bedroom that was fabulous. The other bedroom downstairs had a queen. The drive into Coos Bay was easy. We ate the most delicious fish and chips down at the wharf, in a little place on the docks. We also had a nice meal at Shark Bites. The fish tacos and fish and chips were great. When we arrived, the house looked exactly like the pictures. The house was very clean and the yard was well-maintained. I loved how it was furnished and decorated. When we needed to ask a question of the owner, she was very responsive and answered our questions immediately. Working with Kathy on this rental was a breeze. The other thing my husband and I loved about this house was that this is a property that I can see us renting at virtually any time of the year. Because the windows face the ocean, even on cold and windy days in the house, we still got to enjoy the ocean. It was exactly the kind of vacation we wanted.Did you find this review helpful? Nearby are plenty of eating and touring opportunities. the house has wonderful books. We would recommend this property to others and the owner was helpful and prompt with questions and concerns.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers, girls getaway.

We stayed for two weeks and had a wonderful time. The property is great for watching all types of marine life. We saw whales on four different days. Also sea lions, porpoises, schools of fish coming out of the water. Did we mention the surfers, the fishing boats coming from Charleston and Coast Guard keeping an eye on everthing by sea and air. Walking on the beach at low tides brings it's own marvels. Saw at least a hundred starfish. Gulls eating crabs and marine life that we couldn't name. Path to beach is a little tricky. Only a tenth of a mile from the state parks which has a nice beach for families. Great view of the lighthouse. Coos Bay is only 10 miles away for any supplies you might need. It is a very scenic fishing and lumber town. It has some good restaurants, such as Shark Bites and the Coach House. Hwy 101 makes it easy for any day trips you might want to make. We made trips up to Newport and down to Bandon and points in between. Weather is very changeable in this area with fog rolling in at any given moment. This only added to the ambience of the place. Bird watching is good here also, as we saw many different species that we don't have in the midwest. Books and more books. Loved the extensive library. The owners were very helpful in the rental process and recommendations of places to see. If you are looking for a place to enjoy all the Oregon Coast has to offer, this is it.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+.

We stayed here on our honeymoon this March and had an absolutely phenomenal experience! The view is just unbelievable, especially from the master bedroom, where you can see the stars and the ocean at the same time. The house itself was very comfortable, clean, and cozy, and the location is perfect - right on the ocean, next to Sunset Bay and Shore Acres State Parks, and only about 10 minutes from the main town. A typical day for us included a drive into town for pastries and coffee, a relaxing morning back at the house to enjoy the spectacular view, a walk on the beach searching for starfish and anemones, and a hike in a nearby park. We'd go into town in the evening for dinner; there is a lot of great restaurants to choose from. If you drive a little south on the Cape Arago highway, you get to a great lookout point to view seals, sea lions, and sometimes whales (though they're pretty far away). We also went on other excursions to nearby areas, and the drives were all gorgeous. Don't miss Old Town in Florence, which had tons of adorable shops and a tiny restaurant that was wonderful - Waterfront Bay Restaurant (reservations required). We had great weather; only one rainy day and one sprinkly day; the rest were sunny and beautiful. All in all, a perfect honeymoon!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, sightseeing, age 55+, adventure seekers.
