Sonoma house description
TREAT yourself and friends to this magnificent Mountain Retreat, located in the exclusive 'Diamond A' Estates community, just minutes west of the Plaza. Our vacation home is situated in a secluded area on 2+ acres, with no other houses in sight, right at the end of a private country road. We are located right in the heart of Wine Country, less than a 10-minute drive to both the Plaza & Glen Ellen region. This is not a typical track house vacation rental--this is a premium custom-built home that offers you an amazing space in a serene and unique setting Sonoma style! Our kitchen area, in and of itself is spectacular--a FULL PROFESSIONAL CHEF KITCHEN, including an adjacent Pantry kitchen, and spacious dining room.
We are a NEWLY built, craftsman-era home with over 2700 feet of vaulted wood ceilings, red oak hardwood floors, massive windows (light!), and an open floor plan that will embrace you with continuity and openness. Each window and balcony offers an amazing wooded and valley views from every window & balcony. Take advantage of our acreage, including custom walking & hiking trails around the house, and waterfall ponds that add a constant babbling of nature. The house is engulfed by Oak, Maple, and Bay trees with many fern species; our property is active with deer, wild turkeys, and many species of birds.
The highlight of our home includes our NEWLY constructed Executive Chef Kitchen with Viking appliances, custom granite & cabinets--w/ all the amenities of a Professional Chef. You can skip the cooking, and enjoy an in-house Chef prepared four-course meal, prepared w/ local, Sonoma organic ingredients--with clean up included (inquire for more details). Sip a glass of wine off one of our 4 decks areas, perfect for outside lounging. Our massive kitchen island seats 6 comfortably for any gathering. Adjacent to the Kitchen lies a Butler’s Pantry (a smaller kitchen), equipped with an extra dishwasher, sink & prep area with plenty of space. A separate & spacious Dining Room seats up to 10, with an adjoining outside deck, offering fabulous views.
Take advantage of dipping yourself into our Hot Tub (w/ shower), with complete privacy--no houses or fences in sight to disturb your experience.
All three bedrooms are spacious, with the Master Suite encompassing all of the 2nd floor, complete with its own deck, massive closet, and newly built Master Bath. The Guest Suite offers its own unique getaway--with warm, pine-paneled walls, it includes a kitchen, with plenty of space for dining & lounging. Both the Guest Suite and the Guest Room have their own entrance leading out to the hot tub deck. Off the Living Room, there is a wine tasting (or game) room, ideal for… well… wine tasting, playing games, reading, or just hanging out. There are three FULL bathrooms, all NEWLY constructed “Sonoma” style.
For you techno-savvy guests, we offer a Wireless Entry system (no key needed), WiFi & Satellite TV (w/ FULL DirectTV HBO, Showtime, & Sports channels). While we are fully equipped for entertaining-- this is our family country home. We cannot accommodate large parties, owing to zoning and permit regulations. We do not wish to disturb our neighbors in this peaceful, private area and ask that no more than six guests stay over night.
We are owner-operated, so you don't have to go through a third party management company to ask questions or arrange your booking--we are very responsive and love to help our out of town guests.

MORE than AMAZING!
MORE than AMAZING!
We stayed here for a little family Sonoma get-away. The house is very spacious, clean and furnished tastefully. We were pleasantly surprised by all the amenities, decor, and the ease of just "being" there….you won't want to leave! We loved using the kitchen to make suppers and breakfasts. They really have everything you will need to prepare an amazing meal, just grab amazing local produce and wine of course and you're all set! Comfortably slept 5. Outdoor or indoor dining areas. Jacuzzi was great, clean and hot with an outdoor shower which was cool. We definitely want to come back again! Owners are also super sweet and helpful. Highly recommend this home for your Sonoma stay.

Needed: A Few More Days Here
This is our final day at Deer Park Retreat and words can barely describe what a spectacular home you have and what a great time we've had while staying here. Everything has been perfect. We had a few great dinners in the spectacular kitchen and snacks on the deck while watching deer walk by! The only thing we wish we had need is a few more days! Thanks for a great experience!

From the minute you arrive at this lovely home, you realize how wonderful your stay is going to be! We arrived for my son's Sonoma wedding and this home was so much more than we expected! Pumpkins and gourds greeted us at the front entrance, lovely flowers and note on the counter welcomed us, along with several other thoughtful touches. I had dealings with both the owner and property manager and they just couldn't have been more lovely and helpful! Everything was better than described and expected. The decor is just beautiful, the furniture and beds so comfortable, the kitchen is gourmet to say the least! Everything is so clean and top notch accommodations and amenities. The property is gorgeous and we could've sat on the decks all day and soaked in the quiet and beauty. They provided a wonderful notebook full of information and activities. I'm just sorry our stay was shorter than we'd have liked. And that we were so busy with wedding activities we couldn't enjoy every aspect of this unbelievably beautiful home! I'd highly recommend it and we plan on returning some day for more fun! Thank you so much for allowing us to visit your beautiful home.

Absolutely stunning property!
Absolutely stunning property!
Deer Park Retreat is a gorgeous home in the quiet woods outside Sonoma. The location is far enough from town to give you peace and quiet yet close enough to be perfect for wineries or grocery runs. The kitchen is fantastic, the living spaces superb and the back yard and hot tub a Utopia! We all loved the place and hated to leave!!!

Beautiful House In The Woods
Beautiful House In The Woods
Deer Park Retreat is a clean, modern, comfortable house in the hills outside of Sonoma, but a short (~10 minutes), easy, pretty drive leads straight to the Plaza. We didn't need anything! Kitchen is well-equipped with glassware, dishes, utensils, and appliances. The kitchen also has two Bosch dishwashers. There is a clean, like-new KichenAid grill on the back deck, beside a large outdoor table. There is another large table inside a dining room with a beautiful view south toward San Francisco. We spent a lot of time sitting on the deck just outside this dining room. When inside, we spent most of our time sitting around the HUGE kitchen island. The kitchen has a speaker system with a tray to plug-in your iPhone/iPod. The house also has flawless WiFi, so we streamed Pandora through the speaker system. Bathrooms, like everything in this house, are clean and modern. Beds are comfortable and the neighborhood is very quiet. The house has forced air heat and cooling, which we didn't use as the temperatures were perfect during our stay. We did use the washer and dryer, which I’ll emphasize again, are like brand new. And as the name implies, we did see deer! I can’t think of anything to complain about. We really did have a perfect stay. If you’re a runner, you are going to have to deal with some pretty big hills, but the fresh air more than compensates. The house has a basketball hoop (and basketball), and there is community park with tennis courts nearby (wish we would have brought our rackets). I highly recommend Deer Park Retreat, and we will return next time we’re in northern California.

The property is just as it appears in the photos. We worked with the caretaker to set up a private dinner with Chef Don and it was lovely and very reasonable. We also used their recommendations for a local driver and visited so many great wineries. The house is secluded, but close enough to downtown Sonoma - really the best of both worlds. We also appreciated how well stocked the house was and that there were some basic items such as towels, soap, sugar, etc. that you do not always have when renting homes. It just made for an easier trip. A great escape and we highly recommend Deer Park if you are staying in the Sonoma area.

Difficult to believe, but our stay at Deer Path Retreat rivaled the villa we rented in Tuscany. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this beautifully built, furnished, and meticulously clean home. The location is very convenient to Sonoma Square, which made it an ideal base for us as we explored all parts of Sonoma and Napa Valleys. Highly recommended for its soothing, beautiful environment that is aptly named - a retreat where we saw a beautiful family of deer drinking from the little 'bubbler' that sings you to sleep every night. We will definitely be back.

Beautiful home, great amenities.
Beautiful home, great amenities.
Rented this beautiful home for my 50th birthday week with my girlfriends from Florida and Georgia. We stayed for 4 nights and had a great time tasting wine in Sonoma and Napa. Great kitchen but we never cooked! We only ate breakfast at the house we were gone the rest of the day until after dinner. The master bedroom had a great mattress, huge closet and bathroom. We left the windows open every night so we could hear the little stream by the house. We used the hot tub one night, which was nice and relaxing. We elected to have Chef Don come and cook one night. Great appetizers, salad, entree, and dessert. Next time I might have him make something other than filet mignon, since I prefer my steak grilled and this was pan and oven sauteed. We enjoyed several Sonoma, Napa and St. Helena restaurants. Cafe La Hay, Girl and the Fig, Mustards Grill, and Goose and Gander. I highly recommend all of them! We visited several vineyards: Arrowood, Quintessa, O'Brien, Frias, Sequoia Grove, Saddleback, Cakebread, ZD, and Domaine Carneros. I loved O'Brien and Frias....hard to find, but worth the hunt!!

All that we had hoped for...and more!
All that we had hoped for...and more!
We came as three couples, long time friends who had never vacationed together. One pair had never been to California! What an excellent trip!! Kathy and Allison were gracious in offering us everything from accomodating our arrival date to suggesting restaurants and places to visit. And the house!!! What a treat. Set in a remote area with morning birds singing out while we sat with coffee on the front porch, to the buck deer who came to visit for an evening drink from the fountain near the front door. The setting and the gardens are beautiful while the house is very comfortable. We had six adults who felt pampered from the moment we arrived and never felt crowded during the entire week. The bedding and furniture were very comfortable. We appreciated the satellite and WiFi. We enjoyed the games in the game room .We began our mornings together with breakfast in the spacious dining room before setting off for our daily adventures. We even used the outdoor grill for a delicious evening steak dinner. And we haven't even mentioned all the things we did in the area, on the coast, and in and around San Francisco. Anyone looking for a wonderful vacation at a beautiful and entertaining location with attentive and accommodating hosts...you've found your destination. Enjoy!

"Coming Back to the Retreat was the Best...."
note left by guest family: "Dave & Kathy --- Your beautiful home was such a blessing to our family. We had a wonderful time exploring Sonoma & Napa, but coming back to this "retreat" was the best! Wow -- we couldn't think of any way to improve it. It provided everything & more! We tried to place the Viking appliances in our suitcases, but they just wouldn't fit :( What a special place. Thanks for the history on the home, too. My husband is very proud of the fact that he didn't use the indoor shower once!~ Thank you!"

About the owner: Being native to the Bay Area, we have been traveling to Sonoma County for many years, doing VRBO/Homeaway ourselves. It has been a long process, but we finally were able to purchase our own home in an ideal area that we just love. If you enjoy cycling and hiking, it is ideal! Now, we want to share it with other travelers seeking all that this area has offer, and hope that you will love it too!
Why the Owner Chose Sonoma:
Western Sonoma offers a special, unique mountain experience, so you gotta love the outdoors. This area is a ideal, mountain-oriented community, with horses and hiking lending many opportunities to enjoy the outdoors or just bask in nature. What intrigues us the most is the outdoor setting that envelopes ferns, Oak and Bay trees, moss, and greenery everywhere. The house itself is very secluded, with no other residences close by. A dream for us.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
We are owner-operated and provide each guest with detailed attention, responsiveness to their booking and travel needs--we are exceptionally user friendly! We provide each guest stay with fresh flowers, and a bottle of local champagne or wine!
