1st, the wonderful. The cabin is beautiful and is close to many attractions. The beds and furniture were of great quality and very comfortable as well as all the amenities. The view and area is very nice. In fairness to rental people the issues I had were not reported until the day before we left. When we arrived we were notified that the extra key was missing and to use the key from the lock box. No biggie unless you lock yourself out, which we almost did. It was a little stuffy when we walked in so I turned on the AC. It did nothing but blow hot air. Same for the downstairs game room unit. We opened the windows and turned on the ceiling fans and it got comfortable pretty quick. Our 2nd and 3rd days were cool so it wasn't an issue. The Jacuzzi works wonderful but the cover rail that assists you in retracting and covering it was broken making it nearly impossible to cover. One big issue was that it says there is a fenced in area for your dog. This is not a real fence. It's less than three feet tall on most of it and part was just some lattice laid down, It would not contain even a small dog. A four foot chain link fence or at least an area for your dog to go without being on a leash should be installed. Now the small stuff. The pool table was not level. (I leveled it.) The stereo in the game room was missing the antenna. (I used a bread tie with a clothes hanger) and the Sony Game Cube wasn't connected and when I connected it, I couldn't get it to work. Possibly because the Direct TV was set on channel 3. Some directions should be left for operating it. Don't get me wrong. We enjoyed our stay but a few things need attention.

Cabin location was great to attractions, stores, etc. Hot tub was wonderful.Really enjoyed the outdoor firepit.Entrance listed as Shaadow Mountain but was actually Devils Den. Upon arrival, we had no heat. Repairman came, but took a while to warm up.Office did not call before closing to check on the situation. Was told not to use upstairs fireplace. Had been cleaned for the year and we would be charged if used. The downstairs gas fireplace would not light. Coffee pot backed up three times. Went to McDonalds for coffee. TV bedrooom on main floor said we had to have an id card to satallitte. Toilet backed up and no plunger in house. Bought one. Somewhat clean, but fans and shades were terribly dusty. Had an awful odor of a pet in the house, and pet hair on the back porch. Other than that we enjoyed our stay!
Owner response:We offered to upgrade these guests to a different home as soon as they reported the issue with the heat; however they opted instead to wait for the furnace technician. We offered them free firewood and let them know they could build a fire in the meantime . When they called our office to report the problem with the coffee maker, someone from our office took them a new one that day, even though the guest said we did not need to bother. The carpets had just been cleaned in the home, so there should not have been any odor, nor did the housekeeper detect any after their departure. Every effort was made to accommodate this guest, including our immediate offer to upgrade them to a different property nearby, and the issues reported during their stay were addressed right away – unfortunately, other than the heat, we were not made aware of anything else until the day before they left . The plumbing issue was not reported to our office, or we would have sent a handyman or plumber out, as well as told them where to find the plunger. We feel this review is unfair, as the home was extremely clean, and the fans and shades are thirty feet up, so cannot be cleaned between each guest. We are known for having higher standards and better housekeeping, but cannot address issues in a home we are not made aware of.

We just got back from our week long stay at Grandfather View. The location was very convenient to all of the attractions and the Blueridge Parkway. The cabin was so nice! It was well maintained and clean. The only small thing I noticed is that the basement area did have a slight pet odor which could be illiminated by removing the carpet. The only thing that was missing from the kitchen was a crockpot (but we made do). Our most favorite part of the house was the upper porch with the rocking chairs! This was our first experience renting a cabin. We will definately do it again! The rental company was so nice to deal with and very helpful! We can't wait to return hopefully in the fall! Our stay was wondeful. It was a nice little getaway for me and my wife to get out of the noise of the city. The view was awesome, the hot tub was nice and hot, and the large tv and fireplace made our evenings very cozy! Thanks, we will be back!

Spring Baseball Fever, March 26, 2008 Our son played against ASU this weekend and what a great getaway from the normal hotel room. Kitchen remarkably stocked, well done! Very clean!! Two things we would change; Hot tub could have been warmer, 104 not hot enough. Need dvd in living room. Oh by the way, UNCG swept the mountain men. Go Spartans

All of us really enjoyed the cabin this last weekend. Everyone did a great job in preparing it for us. Hot tub and fireplace were definite hits as well as the large TV in the living room and the Internet access. The fully equipped kitchen was especially appreciated and allowed our extended family to enjoy an early home cooked Thanksgiving feast together.

Thank-you for the use of your cabin during our stay in Boone for the ASU Graduation. All of us really enjoyed staying together in one house. This is the best way in order to stay together and socialize. Definitely much better than staying in individual hotel rooms and musch cheaper overall. A beautiful house, well equiped, and a fabulous view of Grandfather Mountain. Thnak-you once again :o)

Well we started off our stay at this wonderful house by becoming engaged! That was very exciting and the long weekend just got better and better. The view of Grandfather Mountain was just spectacular and the waterfall right down the road was beautiful. With the hot tub and rocking chairs, it could not have been more peaceful and relaxing. And did I mention the view?! We would definitely stay in this home again - perhaps for our first wedding anniversary!

Donna went out of her way make our vacation GREAT. We had rented another place which didn't meet my needs. Donna moved us over to the BEAUTIFUL home and without her help we would NEVER have had such a wonderful vacation. Thank you Donna for making our vacation a pleasant one.

We came to America and NC not really expecting the beauty that you have. It is marvelous, but this cabin added to our vacation in every way possible. We loved it! It was spacious while still feeling cozy. You have made everything so lovely and comfortable. We hated leaving and will definately recommend it to any other travelers on holiday. Thank you so very much for making your charming home available for us to enjoy.

We strolled to the waterfall with the dogs every day. We sat on the porch, had coffee and looked at Grandfather every morning. Even when it rained, the hottub was wonderful and inviting. The beds were all comfortable and the kitchen had everything we needed. You did a really nice job with this property. We hated coming home!

This house is the best!!! I was overwhelmed at its beauty, its comfort, at how everything was thought out for the most for the guest. My husband was happy as he had his own office with DSL and could stay in touch. The children were thrilled with all the games, and pool table. I was thrilled with everything. I could not recommend this house highly enough. The best part was the view and the surrounding area-especially the water fall. We will absolutely be back!!!

We thought this was the best house we ever stayed in. The views were awesome, and everything in the house was perfect. We have 3 teenagers and they just stayed in the game room and hot tub. We stayed up on the porch just rocking away and enjoying the peace, beauty and mountain serenity. I especially loved the log-sided bedroom!
