Perfectly located in central Umbria, just 7 kilometers outside of Todi, Casa Luminosa provides a wonderful base from which to discover the hilltowns of Todi, Perugia, Assisi, Spoleto, and Orvieto, and the wonderful wine areas surrounding Montefalco (the Strada del Sagrantino). Located near the E-45 Superstrada close to all Umbrian destinations, and the A-1 Autostrada del Sole to Rome (1.5 hours) and Florence (2 hours).
On the edge of a small medieval borgo (village), the non-smoking cottage is private, but not isolated. Both the house and the terrace offer spectacular views of farmland, valleys, and hilltop villages. Carefully restored, Casa Luminosa is a traditional Umbrian house with thick stone walls (the living room and one bedroom are part of a medieval watchtower attached to the ancient church), yet it offers modern amenities such as central heating and a full kitchen.
The rooms are filled with light, and are finished with light terracotta floors. You'll find remnants of old striped frescoes in the hallway and in one bedroom. Enjoy your morning cappuccino on the terrace, listening to the birds in the cottage's orchard, and your evening wine watching the stars come out after a glorious sunset.
Casa Luminosa's kitchen is fully equipped for preparing your meals at home, and the local stores are full of wonderful cheeses, salami, porchetta, prosciuto, olive oil, and fresh crusty bread. There's fresh rosemary and other herbs in the garden which the neighbor cares for. Nearby restaurants offer everything from first-class dining to cozy trattorias to fun local pizzerias.
Ponterio (at the foot of the hill below Todi) is five to ten minutes away, with facilities including a bank, pharmacy, supermarket, and wine co-operative. Just up the road (four kilometers) from the cottage are the towns of San Terenziano and Grutti, with grocery shops, a butcher, bakery, restaurants, gas station, etc.
Ground Floor - Living room with comfortable sofa and armchairs, fireplace with woodstove, and a window overlooking the orchard and valley. A spacious, well-stocked kitchen and a dining area with a table that seats up to eight, with a French door to the panoramic terrace that provides wide views over farmland to hill towns. The terrace has an outdoor table and chairs for alfresco dining and enjoying the wonderful sunsets. Medium-sized den with double sofabed and armoire. Half bath with sink, water closet, and washing machine.
Upstairs - Bedroom with twin beds and tile/beam ceiling. Bedroom with queen (matrimoniale) bed and views over the hills and valley. Window screens in bedrooms. Bathroom with shower and large window overlooking the valley.
