Cotuit, the smallest, most charming of the 7 Barnstable Villages is bound by water on three sides. You are here because it is your destination. There are two small business districts. The Village Green's laid back charm includes a quaint Library, Memorial Park, Church, Post Office, town dock and local restaurant and bar, 'The Kettle Ho' within walking distance. The second business district is centered by our Village Grocery Store and Lowell Park, home to the Cotuit Kettleers, Cape Cod's Summer Baseball League. In addition there is great bird watching and hiking at Eagle Pond, boating in Cotuit Bay, Sampson's Island; an Audubon wildlife preserve. Local cultural organizations such as the Cotuit Center for the Arts and The Cahoon Museum of American Art are lovely attractions within the town. Dining, movies and outdoor boutique shopping are nearby at the Mashpee Commons and the Popponessett Marketplace.
Year Purchased: 2002
About: I live in Princeton New Jersey with my husband and son. I work for Princeton University. We have a long family history with this house and have always loved the charm of Cotuit on the Cape.
Why Barnstable: We purchased this property to keep it in the family and to carry on the memories for our own family. I summered in Cotuit since I was 9 and it shaped my early life experiences while growing up in New York City. I made lifelong friends here in Cotuit. My husband and I had our wedding under a white tent in this backyard and started our family here. The red maples are a gift from my husband.
The Unique Benefits at this House: It's 2nd exit over Sagamore and Bourne Bridges and one of the least densely populated villages. Once on the property, you feel that sense of privacy while still taking in the surrounding sounds and sights of nature.
