  When I started planning my intimate beach wedding I made a wish list of everything I dreamed would be included in the location. When I came across "making memories" on home away I was blown away! It surpassed every item on my list and more! The home décor is amazing and the attention to detail is unsurpassed. The master bedroom was beautiful and huge! The steam shower and soaking tub helped us get some much needed relaxation leading up to our big day! There was plenty of room for all of our family to stay in the home and everyone had their own bathroom! Everything was extremely clean! The Views from all bedrooms were breathtaking! The beds were comfortable and everyone enjoyed the two living room areas with large TV’s to watch basketball the night before the wedding. The elevator was great for unloading all the wedding décor and luggage. The back yard was perfect for our outdoor reception and we cut our cake on the beautiful porch. The sound system was awesome and made it so easy to play all our favorite music the entire stay! The beach access was a dream to walk down onto the sand for our ceremony. Everything about this house was perfect and made our wedding day amazing! Laura was great to work with and was extremely helpful with planning from out of town! I cannot say enough positive things about this beautiful home!

  I have always had a deep love for the beaches of North and South Carolina. So when We decided to have a beach wedding , we started the search for a home that would accomodate our families and a few friends. We feel so Blessed to have found this Stunning Oceanfront home for our wedding venue. This home is decorated beautifully and the grounds and verandas are perfect for entertaining, equipped with speakers outside. My brother-in-law (we think he is a gourmet cook) enjoyed cooking the rehearsal dinner in this gourmet kitchen with the extra appliances. The bedrooms offered much privacy and the views are phenomenal from almost every room. It was the Perfect Wedding Weekend! We watched the sun rise and set on our wedding day! Our families still talk of the great time we had there and hope to plan another trip as well. We had everything right there for the entire weekend. We made many Beautiful Memories at this lovely oceanfront home. Laura was awesome to work with and very personable. I feel like we have known each other for quite some time. If you are looking for a wedding venue ... look no more. This well appointed home is the perfect wedding home We give this Lovely home a five star rating! Shane & Suzi Wolford

  My parents started bringing me to OIB in 1969. Since then I have seen the island change quite a bit of course. One of the biggest changes has been the increase in quality and size of homes on OIB. I have had the good fortune to stay in some beautiful OIB houses. However, this past December, my family and my wife's extended family (15 of us) took the opportunity to enjoy a Christmas stay in this gorgeous house as we had had our eyes on it for a couple of years. The title to this review says it all, WOW!!! Laura and her husband go all out to make sure your stay is as enjoyable as it can possibly be. They provide Ritz level service. The home itself is spectacular. Obviously with a home this large, big groups are going to use it and having double refrigerators, dish washers, ovens, and washer/dryers make all the difference. The open floor plan downstairs and up provide great spaces for families and friends to interact yet there is plenty of room to sequester yourself should the desire hit you. If it is your turn to cook, don't worry about missing out on the fun as you still will be in the middle of it. The home is replete with large flat screen TVs and the whole house (including the deck and pool area) sound system is awesome. Bring your iPods/iPhones loaded with tunes! The mattresses were first class and quite comfortable and they were situated in spacious bedrooms. Each bedroom has its own beautiful bathroom which is sooooo nice. In some respects, the photos on this site do not do the place justice. It is incredible! Take it from me and the others who left comments, this is a must stay for anyone who enjoys luxury and comfort at the beach. And since the house is located at the end of a street, there is no traffic. However I must say the best part of whole deal is dealing with Laura. She makes it her goal in life to make sure you are completely happy with her house and such level of service is always appreciated, but seldom provided. We cannot wait to return!

  I cannot rave enough about "Making Memories"! My husband and I met at Ocean Isle Beach when we were 14 and 16 so when deciding where to get married there was no where else to go! Our entire wedding party stayed at the house as well as my immediate family. Everything was incredible from the amentities, location, the backyard for our reception, and of course location! We also had our rehearsal dinner at the Isles right next door. The decor is stunning in the home which added even more to my wedding pictures. We had our cake cutting on the deck and everyone was able to come up or look from below. The backyard was perfect for an outdoor reception. We had tables, a DJ and plenty of room for dancing! I cannot stay enough about the owners and how wonderful they are. The elevator was also an added bonus for the caterers and florist. My Dad also has a hard time walking so it was perfect for him. Everyone at the wedding was blown away by the home and its beauty. I could not have asked for a better home to marry the love of my life and spend a long weekend with friends and family!

  Our group (six adult couples) was at Ocean Isle for a beach wedding. Our experience with the home was absolute perfection. Here are 10 reasons we would rent this place again and again: 1) the design of the home maximizes the views of the beach, we saw the sun rise and the sun set in the same day, 2) the place is so completly comfortable in every respect, every room 3) the kitchen and den areas are great for entertaining a good-sized group, 4) the back deck and pool area are totally private, you literally feel your on an island with no one else around you, 5) if music and TV matter to you, the big screens and sound systems are top quality, 6) the home looks as if it is brand new and no one has stayed there yet, 7) the master bedroom feels like your own apartment, 8) the place feels like home, 9) there is lots of separation with the bedrooms so everyone felt they had their own space, and finally 10) Laura is so easy to work with. I have not met her face-to-face but I feel like I have a new friend. We are looking forward to returning soon!

  Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

  Our extended family had a perfect fall getaway at this gorgeous, beachfront home! We have vacationed at Ocean Isle Beach for close to 50 years, and this house far surpasses any in which we have stayed. We loved the beautiful yet comfortable furnishings, the amazing amount of space, the extremely well-equipped kitchen (we are forever spoiled after having two refrigerators and two dishwashers!), and most of all, the glorious view! There are two wonderful, large living areas with huge tvs so all the guys were happy! There was a cabinet full of games for the kids. The huge round table was perfect for playing games and enjoying meals together. The porch off the main living area is large and wonderfully furnished. It's like having another living area, and we spent a lot of time out there. The bedrooms were all spacious and had great beds. The little girls claimed the bunk room and had Barbies from floor to ceiling. We loved the proximity of the beach, and even though the weather wasn't great thanks to Hurricane Sandy, we managed to get out on the beach every day. The little boys played for hours in the sand, and with the beach right out door, it was easy to go back and forth. My 86 year old dad could not get out on the beach, but he had a gorgeous view and was thankful for the elevator! Laura was wonderful to work with and truly wanted everything to be perfect for us. She gave us her cell phone number and told us many times to please call if there was anything we needed. She even called and offered to let us check out as late as we wanted or even stay an extra day because of the bad weather. That's NEVER happened before! I can't think of anything negative to say...we loved our time at Making Memories!

  We have stayed in several homes in Ocean Isle and this one is by far the BEST home we have ever stayed in. The home was absolutely gorgeous and we really enjoyed our vacation despite a couple days of rain. Our days spent inside were relaxing and comfortable due to the size of the home and comfortable furniture. I think the entire process was easy as the owner was excellent to work with from start to finish. She made sure everything ran smooth and checked in several times with us prior to our stay and during our stay. You dont get this type of service from anyone else and I highly recommend renting this beautiful home. It was such a pleasure to work with her and we look forward to our next vacation in this home!

  We had an AMAZING time in this beautiful home! We loved the design of the home that provided great opportunity for us to all be together! The pool was so much fun and we were able to watch a couple get married on the beach! Incredible kitchen! I cannot say enough about this fabulous home and all of the "extras" that make your stay delightful! It was a girls retreat and we will be back! :)

  We have rented many luxury vacation homes on the North Carolina coast. Now we have found the best of the best. We loved everything about this house and dealing directly with the owner was a big plus.............. they were very attentive and cared that we were well taking care of.........it was great not having to deal with a rental company who really doesn't care once they have your money.

  I can only express my highest recommendation for this property as well as for the responsiveness of the owner for all of our questions and needs. My family and I had a wonderful time and found the house not only beautiful, but so comfortable. So much attention was obviously paid in decorating this home and choosing quality items to furnish the home. The layout of the home was also inviting, it is designed with an open concept, yet has a very cozy feel. We enjoyed have two separate living spaces, which allowed us to come together as well as take a break and have a little "me time" when desired. My family and I cannot wait to visit this home again.
