This apartment is pristine and provides ample spaces for 2 people. In our week's stay we enjoyed the full kitchen (nicely equipped), the flat-screen TV, wi-fi, and the great location near Helen Putnam Park and downtown Petaluma -- and our granddaughter! The washer/dryer was a big help. The place is very quiet and very private. You can enjoy your coffee or wine outside, overlooking the fine garden. Robert made the booking, the arrival and the departure quick and easy. The double bed size is the only drawback, but we adjusted. We hope to return.Recommended for: Age 55+, sightseeing.

We got in touch with Robert as it was Homecoming weekend for our son in SSU. We had driven through Petaluma in the past and decided to stay here during our visit to the university as it is a mere 15 drive away. Robert was very accommodating and professional in his handling of the booking. The apartment is as mentioned in the other reviews -immaculate, private, welcoming, and comfortable. If visiting in the fall/winter the lack of indoor sitting room would be a downfall. The bed was hugely comfortable and I adored the vintage feel of that room However, the antique bed did make a noise every time we moved which if you are a light sleeper could be a problem.Recommended for: Age 55+, sightseeing.

Looking online for a place to stay while visiting in the Petaluma area, the title of this property, Charming Garden Apartment, immediately caught my eye. After reading the description, viewing the pictures, & contacting the owners we made our reservation. This property is exactly as pictured and described. Very private (own entrance), charming, cozy, immaculate and literally steps from a garden of fruits and vegetables which the owners graciously share. The space is small but just the right size for the two of us. Full kitchen completely equipped (including bottle of wine!), plenty of soft towels in bath with tub/shower, and large bedroom area which is exactly like the picture. We both slept so peacefully & well...the mattress on the double bed is very comfortable! What makes this apartment appealing are the special touches both inside and outside. The owners are attentive to detail and genuinely interested in assuring guests satisfaction. In addition to the literature on Petaluma and the Sonoma County area that is provided, they offer personal suggestions when asked. We definitely plan to stay here on our next visit and highly recommend this property to couples or a single person planning a visit to the area. After traveling to Petaluma several times over the last few years, this is the first place that gave us the privacy we like, the comfort we desire, convenient location...and that delicious fruit to pick for breakfast.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My husband and I stayed at Rob and Lee's vacation rental for a few weeks during our process of relocating to Petaluma from Los Angeles. We were warmly welcomed by the owners and enchanted by the property, which is located in a desirable and peaceful part of town about one mile from downtown Petaluma. The living space was clean, well furnished and air conditioned, and included everything needed for an extended stay - fully stocked kitchen (utensils, stove, dishes, microwave, dishwasher), wireless internet, cable tv, washer/dryer, towels and toiletries, and plenty of closet space. The owners also generously provided several bottles of local wine and coffee! :) The garden, which basically surrounds the unit, was also a major highlight of our stay. It was lush and colorful, bearing fruit trees, herbs, vegetables and flowers. We were invited to spend time in the garden and welcome to pick fresh fruit (the plums were delicious!) during our stay. The garden was also home to a family of owls, which we never previously had a chance to see up close (being from Los Angeles) and enjoyed observing. The location of this vacation rental is also well worth mentioning, as it is in a peaceful neighborhood that is close enough to walk to downtown Petaluma's abundant shops and restaurants. Being a long time resident of Petaluma, Rob was also knowledgeable of the area and made solid recommendations of local eateries, services, and places to visit. We found the location to be easily accessible to the local freeway and a quick 15-30 minute drive to neighboring towns such as Sonoma, Napa and Healdsburg. San Francisco was approximately 40 minutes away. Our experience at Rob and Lee's place was comfortable and relaxing, which helped ease the stress of relocation. Staying at their rental was a wonderful way to get to know a really neat town.Recommended for: Romantic getaway.

My husband and I had the pleasure of staying in this comfortable garden retreat for an entire week. The apartment is immaculate, and well appointed with a complete kitchen, fluffy towels, nice linens and a comfortable bed. We had a beautiful view of the garden from every window and were invited to select our daily fruits and vegetables from its bounty. We sincerely looked forward each evening to returning to our private "little nest" complete with computer station with internet access and a great reading chair. Our gracious hosts were sincerely concerned about our comfort and meeting all our needs. We hope to visit again.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

Robert, our host, was very, very nice - very low key, accommodating to our schedule, wonderful to work with. His home is just beautiful, and in a very nice, safe neighborhood. The apartment we rented is attached to the main house and is very small, but functional. The kitchen is great, and fully furnished. There is no real living space, so this apartment would not work well for renters to spend a lot of time in. It is perfect to land in in the evening after exploring, or working, etc. The bed is very small, especially for tall people like us. Something to consider if there are 2 of you. Would be perfect for one person. The foot rail on the bed blocks the television...so that might be changed in the future! Robert's gardens are stunning - picked fresh strawberries in the morning for breakfast. A very peaceful place to be!!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, sightseeing.
Owner response: The bed in our apartment is as advertised, a 200 year old brass double bed. It has a brand new mattress with Bella Notte linens. The TV has since been relocated so that there are no obstructions to viewing it.
