Hillsdale house description
Perfectly located twenty minutes between Hudson, NY and Great Barrington, MA, this relaxing retreat is just two hours from NYC and Boston. This charming Hillsdale house is nestled in the foothills of the Berkshires and surrounded by miles of country roads. Catamount and Butternut skiing areas are 15 to 30 minutes away. Cook your own gourmet meals in the country kitchen or on the charcoal grill and eat al fresco on the deck in warm weather. But try to visit at least one of the excellent restaurants in the region. The area is also known for its superb antiquing and shopping. Located on a quiet dirt road, the property has almost two acres of lawn, gardens and wooded grounds and is located across the road from a historic little wooden church. There are several babbling brooks in the vicinity complete with trout and Great Blue Heron. You can walk for miles without ever running into anyone else.
The house has three bedrooms and sleeps five. Two queen beds and one single and there are two baths. The living room has a wood-burning fireplace and a beautiful grand piano. Off of the living room is a two level deck for lounging, sunning and dining. There is a formal indoor dining room adjacent from the large country kitchen that makes cooking at home lots of fun. There is also a detached garage with room for one car and off road parking as well.

Year Purchased: 1991
About the owner: Retired from a quarter century in the ad game, I still want the best of both worlds. The excitement of the city and the peace and quiet of the country (but with lots to do if I feel like it).
Why the Owner Chose Hillsdale:
The second I saw this house I fell in love with it. Just a little country farm house but with lots of charm and character. And through the years I've made it more comfy and homey. In 2006 I finished a second story bedroom master suite, a new living room and a deck for outdoor dining a relaxation.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Located on a quiet and secluded dirt road that stretches for miles with just a handful of houses. In the Fall the trees form a canopy of color for long walks. Close to skiing in the winter. Best of all it's located equidistant between Hudson and Great Barrington just 20 minutes in either direction. And Hillsdale is a vibrant little community seven miles away with farmers markets, quaint stores and eateries and very friendly folks.
