A two bedroom cottage on 180 feet of low, bank water-front property. Property faces south and the view of the Olympics and Mt Rainier can be seen on a beautiful sunny day. Eagles soar the sky and the doves caress the morning with their soft serenade. Sit on the front deck and have morning coffee while enjoying the meanderings of the local residents.
Samish Island is roughly two miles long and is touted as the Martha's Vinyard of the San Juan Islands. Explore the local bergs of Bow and Edison and share in the flavors of the abundant Skagit County of the summer harvests of blueberries, raspberries, and succulent strawberries. Bike ride the island and bring binnoculars for glassing the many varieties of birds this area provides.

We spent a lovely weekend at this quaint cabin located right up from the water on Samish Island, with quick and easy access to the beach (less than a minute walk down to the shore!). The view is incredible and expansive, overlooking south to Padilla Bay. When the tide is low, you can walk really far out which is great for exploring. We also saw a couple bald eagles very close-up which was fun and exciting. The cabin is small and cozy yet comfortable and very clean. It's a great place for a quiet and relaxing getaway of sitting back and enjoying the fabulous and ever-changing view. We would highly recommend!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, age 55+, sightseeing, families with young children.

My husband and I spent a wonderful week at King's Rest and Retreat in July 2012. We had beautiful weather, including some fantastic summer lightening storms, but I imagine the space is equally tranquil during colder months. The pictures Shaari (the owner, who was great) posted can't quite do justice to the setting: Samish is lovely, quiet and friendly, with tons of bird life (including resident herons, bald eagles, and a host of other birds), and King's boasts fantastic views: Padilla bay to the southeast, Fidalgo Island to the west, and the Sound to the southwest. Even better, King's is right on the "pinch" of the island - the narrowest point - so a leisurely walk in either direction offers great views to the east and west. King's is well taken care of, well stocked (pots, pans, coffee pot, basic pantry are all there; bring your own DVDs if that's your thing), and a perfect spot to either relax or use as a home base for exploring the Skagit valley. Definitely try Breadfarm in Edison, WA and Skagit's Own Fish Market in nearby Burlington for excellent provisions; Route 11/Larabee State Park for outdoor activities; and your own sprawling west facing backyard with fire pit for hanging out and relaxing. We will most definitely be coming back.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0
