  Let me start by saying I never write reviews. Now, for Maire's home....you will be hard pressed to find a more lovely accomodation anywhere in Galway. Built in 1807, the home is beautifully decorated and preserved, with fitting modern updates (mostly in the baths) and fantastic charm. The grounds are striking and beautifully maintained. The period details in the rooms were lovely (big fireplace, chandelier, antique furnishings), and the bed was more comfortable than my own (big down comforter and soft linens). The en-suite bathroom was large and updated recently with modern fixtures (nice showerhead, towel warmer, beautiful tilework) yet still lots of charming details. ...and can't wait to go back!! Stay here. You will not be disappointed!!

  We stayed at the Nile Lodge for a few days in November. It was such a delightful stay we didnt want to leave! The house is truly picturesque and full of history. Maire, our hostess and owner of the house was really nice to us and always available to make us comfortable and keep us warm, particularly after a day kayaking in the cold Irish sea! The house is situated a mere 10 minutes away from the centre where one can find a whole variety of pubs and restaurants to choose from.Galway is also the ideal location if like us you intend to explore the Connemara region. Breakfast was abundant and absolutely delicious, the only incentive we had to get out of the extremely comfortable bed, warmed by the fireplace in the room. We can't wait for the opportunity to visit this place again.

  Having read all the brilliant reviews about this place it is not possible for us to disagree except to say that it is even better than that!!- probably because Marie is the hostess with the" mostest" ! Thanks for a very memorable stay and keep up the great work .

  Loved this place! The rooms, furnishings and grounds are beautiful. The breakfast was delicious and more than enough. But... the best part was our host and owner (Maire). She could not be more accommodating to our group. She handled our every need (local directions, directions to next stop, dinner reservations, taxi reservations, luggage storage.....). Could not recommend enough.

  My partner and I couldn't have asked for a better hostess or accommodations. We weren't worthy of the breakfast (homemade granola, fresh squeezed orange juice, free range eggs cooked to order, on and on). Spacious room and great atmosphere.

  Amazing place with an amazing atmosphere. The rooms are unbelievable and the bed was dreamy . Everything was just perfect. 10 minutes walk from the center of galway . Wonderful hostess Worth every euro!!!!!!

  Amazing!!! Amazing!!! Amazing!!! The rooms were unbelievable! U felt u just stepd in to a farrytaile. Big room with a hand made bad, soft sheets, a fire place. Every thing was sparkling clean. Breakfast was so good as well.

  The welcoming coffee,delicious scones (with cream and jam) set the the tone for a thoroughly enjoyable stay at Nile House. Everything about it - the character, the furnishings, the service, the scrummy breakfasts - exuded quality and class. The proximity to the city centre and Salthill also a big advantage. We would love to stay again if Maire will have us!

  We were greeted by a very warm and welcoming owner. We had a very beautiful clean room and the same goes for the private bathroom. She served us tea and scones which were very delicious. The house is incredibly beautiful and well maintained. It is in a quiet location. Breakfast was amazing, its practically 5 courses including putting an order in for a cooked breakfast. The owner was very lovely the whole time and we would definitely stay again.

  We just returned from a weekend stay at this lodge. While the lodge itself has such history, the owner, Maire MacDermott, was warm, gracious and just lovely. She made our stay so much more than a regular B&B. The location was perfect for myself, husband and 10 month old daughter - central to Galway city center but not so close to be noisy. The breakfast was fantastic - organic eggs...YUM! The room was large with a comfortable king size bed and enough room to fit a travel cot for our baby. Ms. MacDermott truly made you feel at home and was so personable. She had great recommendations for dinner and wonderful stories to tell. We would definitely return for another visit.

  I was bowled over by the warmth and friendliness of our host, the afternoon tea was just what the doctor ordered! We loved the beautiful house and historic building. We have never experienced anything quite like it in a b&b. The bed was so comfortable and nothing was missing from the whole experience. The breakfast was magnificent. We will be back here the next time we stay in Galway. The information given about restaurants and nightlife could not have been any more informative. A wonderful experience overall.......

  I liked everything about the Nile Lodge. Maire made us feel so welcome right from the start. We arrived late at night after a very long drive and Maire offered to make us a late night snack and took care of us. The lodge is beautifully restored as well as comfortable and elegant. The breakfasts were divine and the attention to detail amazing. Maire was so helpful and made great suggestions for activities and places to go. We are looking forward to another trip to Ireland and would like to make the Nile Lodge our base to launch from. We liked everything about the Nile Lodge and feel we truly lucked out by staying thgere. It was incredible.

  If you are looking to stay in a gorgeous, beautifully appointed B & B, just over the bridge from the city centre, then this is the place for you. The innkeeper, Maire, is wonderfully warm and welcoming. Our room on the first floor had a lovely garden view, a very comfortable king bed, and a large, elegant bathroom. The furnishings and decorative touches are truly exceptional. The breakfast was served in a beautiful dining room. It was truly gourmet, with artisanal breads and cheeses, fresh fruit salad, cereals, yogurt, eggs of any kind, and the most delicious homemade brown bread I have ever eaten.

  I stayed there in July. The lodge is in a quiet location between Salthill and the city centre. I was with my partner and we were very well welcomed. We were upgraded to a beautiful room, with extra king bed and antique furniture. Very nice linen and many towels. Breakfast - 4 course, very delicious, organic, many choices, with a elderflower syrup, orange juice, with a selection of Irish cheeses plus Irish breakfast served on a porcelain. I recommend also poached eggs. Very deep experience , so different than in a impersonal hotel. Excellent value for money. We got a very good recommendation to a nice restaurant. It has a personal touch, history, elegance and charm. I will come back.

  "Oh what a Joy it has to be said to rest our weary heads upon the pillows of the massive bed" What a lovely house and in it our souls were lightened by the lovely ladies with their warm hearts and tinkling laughter.   Nile Lodge is just 8 minutes far from the city centre and the Ocean. The staff is welcoming and always friendly. Beautiful house with big garden, perfect to relax! Large and clean rooms. Big and very good breackfast.

  We have just returned from a night at the Nile lodge in Galway. From the personal welcome from Brenda, the tea and scones provided for every guest and the beautiful rooms and peaceful atmosphere it was perfect. We are regular visitors to Galway and have previously stayed in hotels. This trip to the Nile Lodge has changed that, we will be back for the personal welcome again.
