We (2 families) spent a thoroughly enjoyable week at Pioneer Chalet in February. We were pleasantly surprised to finally find a place that actually resembled the pictures we viewed! It was large, spacious and very clean. Master bedroom was a treat, the other bedrooms were also very nice. The kitchen was well equipped. The proximity to the ski hills and to the village was perfect. Jacqui (owner) and Dave (property manager) were excellent to work with...pleasant,reasonable and very accommodating! We are already looking forward to returning next year!!!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

Even though we were only two people in this large house, it was very homey and comfortable. We could see that when filled to capacity this would be a fun place, from the large living room to the pool table area in the basement to the loft space off on its own that would be perfect for a nap or a good book. The kitchen was a pleasure to cook in, as it had ample prep area and storage space for a week's worth of food, which I think would be true even for larger groups. We liked sitting at the huge table in the kitchen and having a great view of the mountain as we ate.The large gas fireplace gave off incredible heat, which was appreciated during our October stay. Being at the end of a quiet residential street, but having the main road and the village so near meant we could feel like we were away from it all, but could be where we wanted to be very easily. It was a great location for getting to Collingwood and also for accessing hiking trails in other areas. One of the big benefits to the Blue Pioneer Chalet was that it is pet friendly. It has become more difficult to travel with our 13 year-old dog, so to find a place where he could be comfortable was very important. Not only did he have space to roam inside the house, but it was a great neighbourhood to walk around and behind the house is a park-like area with lots of trees.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

The location of this chalet is fantastic- very easy walking to the Village. We had 7 people staying and there was more than enough space for everyone and in fact we kept joking that we needed to make more friends so we could invite them to sleep over. The pool table and darts in the basement was a real bonus. The kitchen was well outfitted, especially with enough plates and glasses, which made life much easier as it meant not having to do dishes constantly. We would definitely rent this place again.Recommended for: Families with teenagers.
Owner response: Hi Heather: Thanks so much for your lovely comments! I'm happy you enjoyed the space! We look forward to hosting you again. In the winter it's fabulous for skiing. The flowers bloom colourfully in the Spring! Enjoy the semi-private pool and tennis courts in the summer...not to mention all the golf, hiking the Bruce Trail, downhill and road cycling...amongst other things!

There was 6 adults and 2 small children. There was lots of room to sleep and have our own spaces. The kitchen had everything we needed. Plus a big table to sit at. The bathrooms were clean. The master bed was a little on the hard side. For a small fee the owner provided bed linens as we were traveling from Alberta. The view of the ski hill was fabulous. The fall colors were great. It was a nice quiet neighborhood. The pictures in the listing are accurate to what is available. We did not use the basement. But the main floor and upstairs was very nice.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

It's a quiet area, ideal to relax during vacations. It's a very good location, closed to the Blue Mountain Resort but also to Georgian Bay, just few minutes by walk. The chalet is very spacious and ideal to receive a large amount of people. The fireplace is really beautiful and the basement gives us the possibility to have a lot of fun with the pool table!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2008
About the owner: I've been renting Blue Pioneer Chalet since I purchased it in 2008. I live in Toronto where I rent residential apartments, run a travel company and teach cycle safety in the summer and skiing in the winter. I've spent a fair amount of time in Collingwood over the past several years and love it there! As such I love to share it with others and hope they get the same enjoyment I do out of it
Why the Owner Chose Collingwood:
I purchased this particular property for a number of reasons. I saw a need for larger properties in the rental market as well as personally having an extensive network of family and friends that it can accommodate. The location is excellent, at the end of a quiet cul-de-sac, 2 blocks to the Blue Mountain Inn and another couple of blocks to the Village at Blue. Views of the mountain are unobstructed and being at the end of the cul-de-sac, its unlikely that anything will ever be built up in front of it. I love the feel of space in the chalet and particularly love the large table in the kitchen where I've squeezed in as many as 14 people on several occasions for great meals.
The Unique Benefits at this Chalet:
The huge deck at the back of the house allows lots of room to relax, BBQ and watch the tennis in the courts behind the house. At the front, the balcony offers spectacular views of the sun setting over the mountain ridge! Perfect for pre-dinner cocktails. The master bedroom is spectacular with high ceilings, a chaise-lounge and a unique large ensuite with a double-size jacuzzi tub. There are also many little spaces to hide out in if you want some alone time. Then there's the billiards room in the basement with a 2nd kitchen space. The layout is fabulous!
