Property description

Extremely comfortable home set in 3 acres, surrounded by thousands of miles of forests abutting the Cherokee Indian Reservation. Central Heating. Air Conditioning. Picture windows. Well equipped, 40' TV, DVD, Ipod deck. Cherokee style decor. 70' deck. Fire Pit and Barbecue. Well behaved dogs welcome. ($50 charge per dog). Master bedroom four poster bed, door to deck. En suite jet bath amazing views through picture windows. Second bedroom, queen bed, ensuite, door to deck. Two further bedrooms, ensuite. Great Room with vaulted ceiling, gas log fire. Full equipped, hand built old timber English style kitchen.
The mountain roads to Eagle Ridge are stoned and pretty good, but 4 wheel drive is recommended. Snow chains are necessary in winter snow.
After the journey relax for a day or so.. We have books and DVD's, or you can just sit in a rocking chair on the deck and do very little at all! Pick up a takeaway and cosy up in front of a roaring fire. Play an old fashioned board game. Barbecue a good steak. Get a prime view of the Fall leaves. Make a fire in the fire pit and toast S'Mores. Keep an eye out for wild life. From the house we have seen bears, eagles, buzzards, humming birds, coyotes, wild turkeys, deer, chipmunks and even had a rare glimpse of a mountain lions.
When you're ready to explore, there's lots to see and do close by, including walking the miles of mountain trails just outside the door, and exploring the magnificent Blue Ridge Mountain Parkway.
At the foot of the mountain is Starvin's Marvin's. What Marvin and his band of helpers don't know we've never yet discovered! Everything from gas and coca cola to supplies and advice on the world, just ask Marvin! You can fish for trout or pan for gold at the same time!
Maggie Valley - Ghost Town, enjoy a view of the world 1/2 mile up from what was once an abandoned town. Eat a pancake (or perhaps more than one!) at the world renowned Joeys Pancake House. Take in a show at Carolina NIght. Play Crazy Golf or have a meal at one of the many good eating places. Watch the clogging at the 'Stompin's Ground'. Buy fruit and vegetables straight from the farm at Tammy's stall. Watch a chain saw carving take shape. Go Snow Tubing. Walk around Lake Junaluska. Shop for souvenirs, play a round of golf at the Maggie Valley Country Club. Ride go carts at Minneapolis Grand Prix...
At Cherokee on the Cherokee Indian Reseveration you can try your hand at Fly fishing or paddle in an ice cold running stream. Visit the fascinating Ocunaluftee Indian Village where you can see age old Native American crafts like burning out a canoe and fletching an arrow demonstrated. Listen as the people themselves tell of their ways. Visit Santa's Land and meet Santa all through the year. See the bears. Visit the museum and see exquisite old Cherokee beadwork. In the evening make sure to book tickets for the thought provoking, 'Unto these Hills' production which has played to tens of thousands of people over the years, and tells the story of the Cherokee People and their 'Trail of Tears'.

Waynesville has shops, a bakery with some of the best home-baked bread you'll ever taste. There are many good places to eat. Window shop as you walk around the historic downtown area. Shop for candy and a unique range of outdoor clothing at Mast General Stores, or have a coffee and watch the world go by!
We've compiled a list of fifty awesome things to do just a little further afield. Here are just some of them -
Visit Fontana Dam (where Harrison Ford filmed 'The Fugitive'.
Ski the Black Diamond 'OMyGosh' at Cataloochie (or just visit for the spectacular views and see the Elk)
Go White Water Rafting on Pigeon River.
Ride the Great Smoky Mountain Railway at Dillsboro.
Kayak the Nantahala River at NOC
Visit Dollywood.
Shop 'till you drop at Pigeon Falls, one of the biggest outdoor outlet centres in the world.
In Tennessee, see the shades of the Civil War. It's the home.of
Country music so if you can, visit the Grand Ol' Opry, or have a meal at Opryland which boasts an astonishing nine acres under glass including hotels, a river with boat trips and lots of walks and restaurants.
Take the Waterfall Tour in Brevard.
Explore the caves at Linville Caverns.
Gamble at Harrah's Casino in Cherokee. Eat there! Excellent food.
Go Horseback riding at Cataloochie Ranch.
Get wet at Sliding Rock in the Pisgah Forest.
Take a boat trip on Lake Lure.
Hunt for gems in Franklin. The biggest gem ever found came from nearby - who knows you might be lucky!
For some though there's just nothing like sitting in a rocking chair on the deck enjoying the complete silence and letting the cares and stresses of daily life drift away. Sit around the fire pit and catch up with friends and relatives, toast a S'Mores - perhaps get a ringside view of the Fall leaves. Enjoy some of the best sunsets in the world, and then lose yourself in wonder at the brilliant stars in the black, unpolluted sky... The peace and solitude of Eagle Ridge will steal your heart away.
