This is a great house rental near Uptown. Very clean, very comfortable (including beds), modern, easy to find and a very short and scenic walk to Magazine Street. Although Tchoup itself is a busy street, we were not bothered by street noise overnight and considered this home a very restful refuge from the more boisterous parts of the city. I would definitely recommend it! Jeff was very accommodating and easy to deal with, too!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

The house is an older home (once a "shotgun" duplex, I believe, that was converted) at the boundary of the container port and the garden district. It has a nice kitchen and nice bathrooms (all updated), with a walk-in closet off the master bedroom, and well-cared-for, original, hardwood floors. The beds were comfortable. The den/living room can close off from the dining room with French doors. The immediate neighborhood is a bit gritty, but it feels full of history and we were never uncomfortable walking around. It's a 10-minute walk (north) past charming homes to the shops on Magazine St. or (west) to Audobon Park and Zoo. A few ore minutes north is St. Charles Avenue & the streetcar. Tulane and Loyola Universities are nearby. Tchoupitoulas Street, which is interesting in its own right, will take you almost all the way east to Canal St. and the French Quarter (a 20-30 minute drive), or you can use St. Charles. There is on-street parking, but it's not reserved and we did find it to be tight at times. This is not a complaint but an observaton. We were always able to park reasonably close to the house. It might affect you if you're bringing multiple cars.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with young children.

I am hesitant to honestly review this VRBO because that might mean it is harder to get a reservation here in the future...but my conscience won the battle so here it goes. This place was GREAT!! From the location, to the furnishings, to the typed dining guide provided by the owners this experience was awesome. The owners were very responsive and accommodating to us and our travel plans. We travel to NOLA often but typically stay with friends; however, this time we were traveling with friends who had not visited New Orleans before and needed a place to stay. We took a chance on a VRBO and hit the jackpot! This place very comfortably accommodated all 9 of us (4 adults and 5 kids) and it is in the best Uptown neighborhood in New Orleans. We were a easy walking distance to Audubon Park and Zoo; about 4 short blocks from lots of shopping, coffee shops and restaurants on Magazine St.; and only 1 block from a supermarket and drugstore. When we went to the French Quarter it was a quick and direct drive or bus ride away. Simply stated, we were close to the action when we wanted it and also able to relax and enjoy the city like locals at other times. In terms of the house itself, it is very comfortable and impeccably clean (even though we were there just about on the heels of the last renters). The house retains its original New Orleans charm but it has updated amenities like central air/heat throughout, updated bathrooms, and new appliances in the kitchen. The house is obviously well maintained and seems to have been pretty recently remodeled. There is a small yard in back, but with such close proximity to Audubon Park we didn't have occasion to use it. Needless to say, we had a great visit to New Orleans and this house met our needs perfectly. We are already looking for dates next year for our return visit and stay here. The bottom line - if you are looking for a great place to stay that will give you the local/native experience of New Orleans while also providing easy access to popular tourist attractions, THIS IS THE PLACE!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

I rented this house for my wedding as I needed a place to stay for three days to sleep, get dressed the morning of the wedding and most important of all - Relax!!! The house was clean, comfortable and had everything we needed. I highly recommend the property. I also loved the decorations and the large private bathrooms. And do not be worried about the parking. We parked on Tchoup every night and did not have a problem. Also, the location is so perfect for the uptown area as you are near grocery stores, shops and restaurants. I am a local New Orleanian and it is a great place to stay if you want to visit the city and not stay downtown. The house is located on a busy street, but you can hail a cap or catch the bus if you do not have a car!Recommended for: Sightseeing, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

Charming and beautiful home. Great location. Easy walk to shops on Magazine. Bought groceries at Whole Foods and walked for coffee and breakfast, too. Walked to St. Charles to catch streetcar with no problem. Will definitely consider staying here again on future visits. Nice to be away from French Quarter but still able to go down for Seafood Festival and Blues and BBQ Festival over the weekend. Thanks, Jeff!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

About the owner: I moved to New Orleans in 1993 to attend Tulane University. And the City that Care Forgot wasted no time sucking me in. As a young man, my Uptown neighborhood met my every want and need - a half block from Mardi Gras, a quick stumble to some of the best live music in the city at Tipitina's and Les Bons Temps, fine eats at Dick and Jenny's, and plenty of libations within striking distance. Now I am older, with three children, and though my needs have changed the neighborhood still provides - ice cream at Creole Creamery, snowballs at Hansen's Sno-Bliz, two playgrounds, a children's library, and pizza. And of course Mardi Gras. I have moved three times in the last 15 years. Never more than 6 blocks.
