Three bedroom independent house. All bedrooms have attached bathrooms with modern fittings. Kitchen with refrigerator and gas stove, with plates, utensils, and cookware included. Upstairs bedrooms (2) have air conditioning. Pool with jacuzzi. Outdoor grill. Backyard with lawn and plenty of seating. Utility room with washing machine. Has broadband / wireless internet connection and telephone for local calls.
A short walk to the beach on a private and gated road (about 750 feet). The beach is also generally much quieter and cleaner than the main ones in the city. Perfect for an morning or evening stroll.
Ideally located in a quiet neighborhood away from the traffic and pollution of the city, yet close enough for easy access to the heart of the city. Close to the entertainment / shopping complex Mayajaal (http://www.mayajaal.com/). Many other restaurants and stores are also close by. About an hour's drive to the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Mahabalipuram (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mahabalipuram). Also close by to the IT Corridor.

A caretaker and his family live in a separate building in the property. They can guide you in places to see, arranging for transportation, and any other help you may need. They are also excellent cooks and will be happy to prepare authentic South Indian meals for $15 per person/day.

My family and my in-laws (8 in all) were looking for a relaxing family outing near the beach on our current trip home - we stumbled upon this property and were thrilled to stay here. It lived to its expectations - the photos do no justice to the beauty of the property, it is very accessible, the pool was awesome.. Loved the jacuzzi in the pool. The beach was a little messy the day we went to get into the water, we were very grateful that we had the pool to swim, lounge and relax. The caretaker was super nice, he even accompanied us to the nearby beach seeing there were many women in our group. He fixed up dinner for us from nearby restaurants and he provided us with awesome coffee and tea! There were 4 bedrooms instead of the 3 listed, so all of us slept very comfortably. In fact, we could have had 2 more people sleep comfortably. They were missing a television, the caretaker mentioned that they've ordered a large LCD tv to replace the old CRT one - we didn't miss it though, we had a lot of fun and the absence of the tv meant more family time! The bathrooms could use a little bit of TLC, was a little out of sync with the rest of the house! The owner was very nice to talk to and helped set things up for us. Would recommend this place without hesitation!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children, sightseeing.

Vacation rental is about 45 minutes from downtown Chennai because of heavy traffic both ways. The beach is barely accessible because of roaming dogs and the ocean is filthy because of sewage drainage from the city. Ongoing problems with Wi-Fi connection. Inadequate mattresses on beds, threadbare towels, terrible sewage odor in one of the bathrooms, inadequate showers, poorly stocked kitchen utensils, dirty furnishings. The groundskeeper and his family were congenial and helpful. We left early and did not ask for a refund. We hope some of that extra unused rent was shared with the on site groundskeeper as we did not require any extra cooking or housekeeping. The accommodation was not up to Western standards, but by Indian standards it could have been much worse. We did enjoy the pool, but some kind of chemical in it stained bodies and suits blue. Owners were helpful, but they live in Texas. We wouldn't recommend this property to a friend or relative.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 8/9

This house appealed to us because of the location. A quiet neighborhood, yet with easy access to the city. Perfect for an evening stroll to the beach.
