This is the place to stay if you want to experience all that New Buffalo has to offer with your family and/or friends. This three bedroom, two bath 'Merchant Street Retreat' has something for everyone. Just blocks away from fabulous restaurants, boutiques, antique stores, the grocery, pharmacy, spa, and the beach - you won't need your car much.
Downstairs has one bedroom with a Queen size bed - perfect for individuals who do not want to climb stairs - and a full bath with a tub/shower combo. Upstairs are two large rooms with the second bathroom in between. The bathroom is accessible from both the master bedroom and the hallway and includes a large closet.
The front bedroom has four twin beds and a large closet with a bureau & TV/DVD. There is plenty of floor space to set up an inflatable mattress or a pack n play (available at the property w/ sheets & blankets) if needed. The back bedroom, also large, has a queen size bed and the remaining floor space could also accomodate an inflatable mattress or a pack n play.
The cozy front living room has lots of windows and natural light and the couch contains a fold away queen size bed. The dining room, right off the kitchen, is perfect for gathering and includes 8 chairs.
This cottage could accommodate a large family, multiple families, a girls trip or a guys trip. The house has a fully stocked kitchen, washer and dryer, and all linens are included. Grill out on the large back patio and relax in the hammock.
For outdoor fun, beach bags, beach chairs, beach toys, rafts, as well as infant & toddler life vests are included. Beach is walkable but if you choose to drive, FREE beach parking pass included with rental. A covered umbrella stroller is available for your use during your stay.
Walk to the beach, The Stray Dog (to be re-opened May 2013), Redamak's, Nancy's, Barneys Market, Whittaker Shops, the Marina and the Amtrak Station. You're a short drive to the Wineries & Breweries, Casinos (free shuttle to Four Winds), Outlet Malls, the sprinkler park, the Dunes, and the famous Silver Beach in neighboring St. Joseph.

Me and 5 of my girlfriends stayed here for a girls get away weekend. We usually have a hard time finding a place with a bed for everyone that suites everyone's needs - and that includes the price range. This house was perfect!! The bunk room was ideal - we had lots of fun staying in there and kids would just LOVE it! The owners have thought of everything and the house is very homey. We will definately be back and hopefully with my family next time so we can enjoy the yard and the area in the warmer weather. The mexincan restaurant w/in walking distance is delicious. The management company was wonderful to work with and very accomodating. This was my first time to Michigan and dealing with Bluefish and it was a great experience all around . Thank for sharing your home with us and we hope to be back soon!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, tourists without a car, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

My girlfriends & I had a wonderful weekend at this adorable home! It had all the amenities we needed. I loved the back patio especially with the fire pit & having a glass of wine! There were several restaurants close by and a fabulous coffee shop up the street. We visited the winery close by and had such a wonderful time! I definitely plan to visit again soon both with friends & family.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

This was the perfect place for our girls' getaway. Plenty of room, clean and pretty decor. Close enough to all the action that you can get a cab...but far enough you can have some privacy. Really lovely house with all the needed comforts for a family or a getaway weekend. I have nothing but positive things to say about this cozy little house! It made me feel right at home! I love that it is nearby local shops and the outlets in Michigan City! It was very clean and comfy! Our family stayed here for the weekend and LOVED it. The house accommodated our family very nicely. It is charming, clean and gave us the cottage feel - just what we were looking for. The restaurants were within walking distance and great for families. There are so many things to do. The beach is just a few blocks away and is within walking distance-this was important to us. We will definitely be back and are looking forward to our next visit.Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

About the owner: We've vacationed many times to Harbor Country and knew we'd want a place of our own here some day to make many (more) family memories. Fortunately, we found an amazing cottage with tons of space to accomodate us and our children as they grow from toddlers to teenagers. Both of us are from Indianapolis and are IU graduates. Like Bloomington and the Nashville, IN area, Harbor Country has a lot of outdoor activities to take advantage of year round with the benefit of the beach. Having lived in California for three years, New Buffalo is 'the other west coast' to us. The sunsets over large Lake Michigan are gorgeous!
Why the Owner Chose New Buffalo:
We're an active family. We picked this location in New Buffalo because once you are here, you won't need your car much. Everything is within walking distance - even for little ones - but when we're in this home, we feel the privacy and serenity we were seeking in a vacation home. It's the best of both worlds for us! The yard is shady and private and the street is quiet but we're blocks from walking to grab a coffee, ice cream, a cocktail, or a pizza. If it's a rainy day, we can go next door to the library or get in the car and head to the outlets, a movie, live theatre, casino - so much more!
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
We love the big windows in the front room, the large dining room to gather as a family, and the openness and natural light in every room. The yard is shady but has tons of grassy areas to play. The patio is a favorite hang out for morning coffee and evenings around the chimnea. When it rains the mature trees create a natural umbrella from the street to the front door. Upstairs the front bedroom we call the 'kids room'. Our kids think it is fun to go up there and play on any of the four twin beds or snuggle in the papason and bean bag to read a book or watch a movie. The skylights in the Master bedroom give the room an even more open feel and the view from the window is gorgeous looking out at the mature, lush landscaping. We like how the upstairs bathroom is accessible right off the Master but also from the hall in between the two upstairs bedrooms. If the grandparents want to come up with us, they can stay in the first floor bedroom and not have to worry about climbing stairs. The arch over the kitchen reminds us of our first home together - an old Tudor - that had many arched doors.
