We really enjoyed our stay in Taos. The casita was beautiful and very comfortable. We liked that is was out of town and very quiet. When we got there Mary had the table set with a bottle of wine. She was a pleasure to meet and takes very good care of her property. One night we ate at Old Martina's Hall and it was an excellent meal. We had seafood (shrimp, mussels, and clams) spaghetti and blackened Mahi Mahi with a delicious risotto for an appetizer. I would recommend this property and we hope to be back for another visit.

My family stayed here for a long weekend, and it was definitely one of the best, most relaxing getaways we've had in a long time. This guest house was a perfect oasis from our busy, city life. It's a quick and easy drive into town, but located just far enough away to really feel peaceful and relaxing. The house is very comfortable and cozy...the views are beautiful, and the owner is warm and gracious. She has thought of everything one might need in the house and even left bubbles and playdoh for my son to enjoy. We loved staying here and highly recommend it!

This property is new and nicely maintained. The owner was very helpful in providing directions, suggestions and answering questions about the Taos area. The kitchen included everything we needed during our stay. It is located 4-5 miles outside of Taos, which wasn't a problem for our stay. We were able to step outside the cottage and walk down the road and into the great outdoors. We especially enjoyed driving the Enchanted Circle and the High Road to Taos. We would definately stay here again or recommend to our friends.

We stayed at this property for 4 nights over Labor Day weekend. The listing description is accurate and photos are representative. This 1 Bedroom, 1 Bath Casita, located on the sagebrush mesa Southwest of Taos, has all the extras you could need. The owner lives in the main house just a few steps away and is very friendly and helpful. Everything was just perfect except the TV was small and needs to be upgraded with a more modern larger flat-screen. Otherwise, you can't go wrong with this home away from home. We plan to return!

Owner response: It was delightful to have you here! I look forward to a return visit. FYI--your comment on the TV was spot on---the former long term tenant was not interested in TV service. The tv has now been upgraded to a flat screen HD set. Good for watching after the mountains are dark!

Thank you for such a wonderful experience. I needed a week away from any demands on my time by anything other than the lures of nature, creativity, and food. The greens from your garden that you brought for my salad were delicious. I was a little concerned at first when I realized that there was no a/c in the casita. New Mexico can be hot in July. You were right, this casita was designed perfectly to catch the breezes and to capture the incredible views from every window. I'm actually disappointed to be home and have to use the a/c again. The casita's setting is just outside Taos but close enough to be in the thick of things within 5 minutes. I really appreciated hearing only the sounds of the wind, birds, and crickets. So soothing. The beauty of the setting and the casita itself were inspirational for my intentions to paint. I was so relaxed and happy by the end of my stay that I didn't want to leave. The casita was beautifully designed and appointed. Everything you could need is included. I will DEFINITELY be back.

Owner response: You were exactly the kind of traveler I love to have in my casita---enjoying the quiet---the awesome beauty and the comfort of a "fully equipped" home. I will now be putting in ceiling fans---which will even further enhance that well designed air flow!

Loved everything about the house. My only request would be ceiling fans in the bedroom and living room. My wife loved the colors and almost took your shower curtain!!! We had a fabulous time and appreciated your kindness with our granddaughters.

                          Owner info

                          Year Purchased: 2010

About the owner: I am retired from the Executive Senior Service in the Federal Government in D.C. I have visited Taos for 20 years and chose a home with the advantages of glorious views, quiet surroundings and access to great music, art, and cultural events. Most of my career has been as a University administrator and faculty member. My interests are music (playing the cello), art, community service, working out at the spa, live music and cultural connections. I am active and continually learning new things in this Land of Enchantment.

                          Why the Owner Chose Taos:
I own 1 1/2 acres on the high mesa southwest of Taos. On my road is the Taos Golf Course, the University of New Mexico Taos campus and the Taos National Guard Armory--so it is well maintained. Since I am 1 mile from the edge of the Gorge of the Rio Grande hiking is wonderful and the sunsets and sunrises are spectacular. The casita is quite private and comfortable--it was well designed to take advantage of the views. I have a hot tub which renters can access. Nights are always cool mountain air.

The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
The property is quiet and surrounded by sweeping mountain views---yet close enough to easily drive in to town for wonderful restaurants, great live music and any number of cultural festivals and celebrations. Archeological digs and ancient rock formations speak of the age of the land--and the history of all 3 cultures blend in a rich reality of our current world.
