Sweet, Cozy Beach Bungalow on Quiet Lane
- Minimum stay:N/A
- Internet:Yes
- Pets allowed:No
- Wheel chair accessible:No
If you are coming to the East End to appreciate its natural splendor, you will find a comfortable launching pad here. Three hundred yards down an undiscovered road where tricycles and Radio Flyers reign, you have Napeague Bay, home to kite surfers, kayakers, birders, stand up paddlers, and landscape painters. Pull up a beach chair for sunset; take it at your own speed. This newly purchased home has a king bed in one room and a full bed in another. Wraparound decking, two indoor lounging areas – the sunken screened in porch and the living room (both with couches that convert to beds) – and striped bass biting nearby add to your peaceful days and nights. Full interior renovations were completed in mid-August 2012.

My husband, 2 kids and I stayed at this cottage for a week at the end of August and it was amazing. The location is great if you're looking for something very mellow with water in walking distance. We walked to several beautiful swimming areas (bay beaches and a swimming hole) and it's a quick drive/bike ride/run to the ocean beach. This area is delightfully quiet (the small street dead ends to the bay) and you are surrounded by nature and wildlife (I saw a beautiful fox one morning while out for a run). This is the perfect escape for an urbanite. Tim, the owner, was very accommodating. I think we were one of the first renters that he had since renovating his cottage. He quickly and pleasantly addressed any house issues that came up during our stay. The cottage is small, but well appointed and the perfect size for our family of 4. I would highly recommend this property to anyone who is looking for a peaceful getaway.Recommended for: Age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2012
About the owner: We are new owners and veteran East Enders who live year-round on the Upper West Side of Manhattan. I am an English teacher and writer, my wife works in magazine publishing, and our seven-month old girl has yet to declare her major.
Why the Owner Chose Amagansett:
For us, the selling point of the property is its location. Many who come and go to the Hamptons know of hotspots, crowded beaches, and Route 27. This place has none of that -- and that's why we like it. We love the screened in porch, sitting on Adirondack chairs on the front deck, and waking up to birdsong.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
This house dates back to the simpler times when families used to come to their 'camps' and have earnest nights of board games and campfires. Coming from an apartment in the City, we wanted a place where our daughter can splash around and discover seashells, even if this means she may sometimes eat sand.
