Built in 2011 with a commitment to simple beauty and harmony with its natural surroundings, this cabin was designed by my architect sister with input from our family. With its understated luxury it preserves the delicate spirit of the Appalachian nature and features the work of artists and craftsmen of the Celo Valley.
Our cabin has three bedrooms and a loft and sleeps 6 people comfortably. The large, partially covered deck offers majestic views and cool breezes, even in the summer.
If you want a true mountain experience - with all the luxuries of a modern, beautifully decorated cabin - this is it.

This elegant, but simple home could not be more beautiful or easy to live in. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would come back any time. Thank you to the owners for sharing their lovely space. The house is very private and the surroundings are quiet. The dirt road to the house is short and the house was easy to find. All furnishings are high quality and in like new condition.Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers.

We stayed at the "Cabin with a View" for two weeks in the beginning of April 2013. The home is located close to all the attractions Western NC has to offer. Be sure to visit Mt. Mitchell it is super close by. And make sure you visit the easy to get to water fall (Roaring Fork Falls). If you've never seen one its a MUST see! (Check the green spiral trail book under the coffee table.) The house is equip with everything we needed to disconnect from the world and enjoy the simple life. The kitchen is beautiful and very easy to maneuver. The beds are all super comfy and there are plenty of blankets around for those chilly nights. Every room has an amazing view. Waking up and being able to lie in bed and look out onto the mountains is an indescribable experience. The house is beautifully decorated and made us feel right at home! The cabin is pet friendly and our pup Loved being there. The deck was a great place for him to hang out and there were no worries of him being able to get loose. There are a few things that reviews may want to know though. None of these were negatives for us but it doesn't hurt to know. There is no internet service but there is a nice little library of books (some kid friendly books too). There is only one TV and its on the third floor in the library area. There is no land line phone and the only cellphone service that works is Verizon. We had an amazing vacation and would definitely stay there again!Owner response: Thank you very much for 'one heck of a review!' and for all your helpful feedback. We are glad you all enjoyed yourselves and hope you'll come back one day. I've never been to Roaring Fork Falls, but after your review, I'm going to go for sure.

Cabin with a View is a beautiful cabin nestled on the side of a mountain. The cabin is very well laid out and well equipped. March vacations can be iffy weather wise. We arrived with sunshine and 70 degree temps sat in the deck and took in the views of the Celo Valley. The next day there was snow on the deck and at the top of Mt Mitchell it was 24 degrees and blustery. It remained cool and windy but sunny the rest of our stay. Regardless we had a great stay. We both like to cook and found the kitchen is well appointed and easy to work in. We enjoyed having fires in the beautiful fireplace and watching the ever changing views out the windows. My wife and I recently retired and are enjoying traveling to new places. We picked this location for a spring getaway because of its beauty and its nearness to a number of artists and galleries. We went to Penland School and Energy Xchange and watched the artists blow glass and throw pottery. We went to galleries in Burnsville, Bakersville and Spruce Pine. The Knife and Fork in Spruce Pine is a great place for a romantic dinner. Cabin with a View was true to its listing. It was clean and very well equipped. Lisa was very informative and helpful with the areas points of interest and things to do. Jackie at Thurston Reality was great as the local contact and rental agent. We look forward to returning for another stay at Cabin with A View a little later in the spring when the weather is a little warmer.Recommended for: Age 55+, pet owners, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My husband and I had the opportunity to rendezvous with some friends over a long weekend at Celo Cabin. We stopped for groceries 15 min away in Burnsville and got coffee at Appalachian Java and overlooked the town square. A few stores down from the coffee shop is the Toe River Arts Gallery. They had self guided maps , so you can visit local artists, potters glass blowers etc. in their studios. You pull up to this rustic little cabin tucked into the mountainside and are greeted by sweeping views inside and out. The huge fireplace was definitely a feature- excellent place for cocktail hour after a day of taking in NC! Everything was very clean, kitchen was well equipped and the beds were comfortable. In the morning you wake up to see the river valley filled with mist- you feel like you are in the clouds. From the cabin backdoor we hiked on old logging roads into into the Carolina Gamelands and on into the Pisca National forest. Next time we might get up earlier and make it all the way to Mount Mitchell! Perfect combo of action and relaxation. Can’t wait to come back!Recommended for: Families with young children, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway, adventure seekers.
Owner response: Thank you very much for that awesome review! We're glad you and your husband had such a good time and look forward to your next visit.

This cabin and the location exceeded all my expectations. I flew in from California to spend an extended weekend with friends, getting away from it all. It was the perfect place! The cabin is just a few hours drive from Charlotte. I recommend arriving in the daylight - my friends and I got there after dark and got temporarily lost on our way up the mountain. Plus, if you arrive during the day you can immediately bask in the amazing scenery. We especially enjoyed sitting out on the deck with appetizers and wine. We were there in April, and it was very comfortable to be sitting outside. The views from inside the cabin are just as stunning. Every room has huge windows facing down the mountain, with no other homes or buildings obstructing your view. Waking up with a post-card view outside your window is a great way to start off each morning. Our group did a day hike (many trail heads within a 10-20 minute drive, and I think there is even a trail that's walking distance from the cabin). We also visited the Mountain Goat Farm, found many local antique shops, spent an afternoon in Asheville (maybe a 45 minute drive from the cabin) where there are a lot of cute shops, great artwork, and places to eat. We tried some local BBQ which is a must! We also took advantage of cooking some of our dinners in the cabin. There is plenty of cookware in the kitchen, and a great carved-wood dining table that can probably fit 12 people. The cabin is new and very comfortable, with all modern amenities, but the location is secluded so that you really get the best of both worlds. Our group will definitely be planning another visit!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, girls getaway, adventure seekers.
Owner response: Thank you very much for your very kind words. We're glad you and your friends had a great time in the mountains of western NC and and that you all enjoyed your stay at our cabin. We hope you'll come back.

This cabin was the best of the best places to stay! The weekend was a high school girlfriends getaway weekend with some new friends we let into our circle. The cabin was beautifully decorated and had a most comfortable feeling as you entered the front door. The pictures on-line are true to what you will have waiting for you. It was very clean with nice linens and very comfortable mattresses. All bedrooms have windows facing the valley so you wake up and can witness the sunrises right from you bed. The kitchen was well stocked with pots/pans, utensils and dishes. Okay, so you have a practically new cabin, clean as can be, great accomodations for sleeping, but the best part is actually the deck! While overlooking the whole Celo Valley if you look straight out and down, it is also a perfect spot for star gazing. Because of the lack of city lights, the stars are really brilliant and twinkling away. Being out on the deck is the perfect way to start and end your days! Would also like to mention that the window seat on 3rd floor is plenty big to serve a twin bed. Wood for the fireplace is provided. Lots of parking space. Make sure to visit nearby Mountain Farm and explore the many lavender products they make and feed the farm animals. The Town of Burnsville is a great place to spend a full day. Spruce Pine also has some fun shopping spots and several nice restaurants on Back Street. Two suggestions for dining - The Garden Deli in Burnsville has scrumptious lunches and dinners. The Chalet Inn in Little Switzerland has a super seafood buffet on Friday nights. The cabin is definitely "out in the country" but is actually an easy ride into both Burnsville and Spruce Pine.Recommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing.

About: We live in Charleston SC and Tampa FL and love our getaways to the mountains of North Carolina - especially in the hot summer months. In the fall, the colors are beautiful and remind us of where we grew up in southern Ontario and Bavaria.
Why Burnsville:
My husband and I bought our cabin in 2006 and immediately fell in love with the people and surroundings of the South Toe Valley. Five years later we joined with my architect sister and her husband to build this new, beautiful cabin on the neighboring property, so now more people can experience the beauty of this area. We hope you will join us soon!
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
Hiking (easy walking or more intense hikes), biking, rock climbing, gem mining, fishing - this property has it all.
The cabin is within walking distance of the Pisgah National Forest. You can walk all the way to Mt. Mitchell and never get in a car.
