This cottage (house) is situated between the Holland State Park Beach and the Holland State Park Campground in a historic neighborhood. Although not a waterfront home, it's within walking distance of the State Park Beach, Lake Macatawa, and the Holland light House/Pier. The house sleeps 12 and has all the charm of a Norhtern Michigan Cottage. There is no central air, but the fans provided by the owners work quite well to keep things cool. All in all, very good value for the price with good access to all Holland has to offer. Our family will be back!

Great Family Time with Something for Everyone
Great Family Time with Something for Everyone
Finding a date / place to stay for our family of 10 adults / 2 children coming from far and near was harder than I thought. We needed several bedrooms with enough beds all within our budget. This cottage met our needs. And altho the listing information needed to be updated, it matched most of what was listed. Lauri was very helpful (and understanding) in helping us to make the reservations even tho our plans changed a few times. She responded quickly to my "many" pre-vaction questions and was also easy to contact and responded quickly when we had questions upon arrival. The older cottage had lots of charm, a few quirks and the five bedrooms (and daybed on the porch) fit our family needs perfectly. (NOTE: The two double beds sizes were a challenge for our two married sons and their wives - queen beds would have been nicer. The main floor bedroom has a queen bed and that was wonderful.) The wrap around porch was WONDERFUL! We gathered there for our meals, board and card game time and even quiet reading time. We were concerned that there was only 1 1/4 bathrooms, but turned out to work out well. And altho the kitchen is small and our BIG meal preparation were a challenge, through creativity and an extra table used for counter space, we made "it" happen. We used the fire pit most evenings and the one day of rain didn't hinder our fun times. The washer and dryer were helpful and the garage was a huge plus since we took several bikes along and it was great to be able to store them there. We were disappointed to find that the side yard was not included in the cottage property since we had several lawn games along, but we managed to play in the limited space. The BEST thing about the cottage is the LOCATION. The bike paths, the beach, the General Store, Mt. Pisgah and the ease of getting to them all added to our great time. If we ever manage to gather the family again in future years, we will definitely consider this cottage again.

Worked out well!
Worked out well!
Found this place available at the last minute and decided to give it a try. Although there were only three of us coming in from out of state, it worked out great! Our family that lives nearby was able to join us at the state park beach and at the house for dinner and s'mores in the fire pit. Plenty of living space for a house full of family. Loved the wrap around porch looking into the woods across the street. Well equipped with everything including a pool table and toys for the kids. The lovely back-way walking path is a leisurely 10 minute walk to the state park beach via the beautiful, secluded historic cottage area. Load up your beach bags and the provided stash of beach chairs in the easy glide burley in the garage and head to one of the world's best beaches IMHO. Took my early morning coffee just steps away to Black Lake Boardwalk East on the inland lake to watch the sunrise on the lovely waterfront park bench. A few yards down we sat at Black Lake Boardwalk West to watch the boats come in and out of the Big Red lighthouse channel. Then back to the beach after dinner to peacefully watch the sun dip into the lake. Plenty of biking and walking paths all around. As described, you really don't have to drive anywhere. Great location. But Holland is also one of our favorite places for other things within a short drive away like the Farmer's Market for famous Western Michigan fruit, Captain Sundae, and the Dutch bakery across the street. The kitchen is very small but well equipped and we cooked for 11 with a simple preparation plan. Even my husband who went into this a little skeptical was sad to leave.

Fantastic time for a family gathering!!!
Fantastic time for a family gathering!!!
We recently rented the property to accommodate family members and bridesmaids for my daughter's wedding over Memorial Day. The place was amazing. Lauri was SUPER helpful, kind, hospitable, etc. The house is incredible, albeit a tad drafty--but hey, it's a historic home! Plenty of towels and blankets for everyone, we were all very comfortable and happy there. The iPod speakers were a definite bonus. I'd recommend this place to anyone needing to sleep 9-10 adults. There would have to be some kids in the mix for it to work for 12. The enclosed wrap-around porch was awesome and gave the party lots of extra room to get dressed and made up for the wedding. We loved the location within Holland and the neighborhood. It was an easy walk to a store, a restaurant, and the Holland State Park beachfront. This was great because many of our guests flew in and did not have cars. And the surrounding area is quite scenic--we actually used it as a backdrop for some of the wedding party photos. We had an oddball request along the way regarding where to park a large RV. While we ultimately could not park it around the property. Lauri was great at trying to accommodate us and in recommending (and even calling and checking) at nearby RV parks. You really couldn't ask for better service. We were super pleased and give a high recommendation.
