We are repeat guests, always booking for a full ski week in Feb, and really enjoy the house and the location. Cul-de-sac is perfect to let kids play, and they like making snow slides on the hill behind the house. Included use of the two-car garage and excellent Northstar shuttle make park and ride for the week easy and convenient, particularly when the snow is heavy. Everything worked perfectly as usual, and we enjoyed the recent addition of WiFi. Also used the guest passes at the new rec center for some R&R this visit. We've rented a few other houses in the area over the years when this home was not available, but nothing beats the layout, location, comfort, owner flexibility and attention, and price of this home!

Recommended for:Sightseeing, families with teenagers, girls getaway, families with young children.

Nice house but poor response from owner on numerous problems

My husband and I have rented numerous homes through VRBO and have always had a positive experience. When we booked this trip, there were few options as it was a holiday weekend and we were booking only 30 days out. I asked the owner why there weren't any entries on the calendar and why the reviews were so old. He told me that they didn't use the calendar and that they were very "selective" about who they rented the house to. Seemed a little odd, but then we were anxious to get a place that didn't require driving to Northstar, so we went ahead and booked it. The house is well located and spacious but the maintenance left a lot to be desired. We had numerous issues, from the water not being turned on, to the fireplace not working, broken DVD player, incorrect wifi password, no garage door opener, broken chairs, guest passes for the rec center missing, stove burner not working, etc. What bothered us the most was the response that we kept getting from the owner: "It must have been the previous renters" he kept saying. He even told us that the fireplace isn't really used for heat so we probably wouldn't want to have to deal with it! I've never encountered such an attitude from a VRBO owner. It is understandable that some things may not be working properly - it is the response that the renter receives that makes the difference. No one came out to deal with any of the issues that we had. The only reason we are rating the overall experience as "Fair" instead of "Poor" is that we had an awesome weekend DESPITE this owner's lack of follow up. I wrote a letter to the owner when I returned the keys; there was no response. We will not rent this house again.

Owner response:We take great pride in our home. We have recently completed a renovation which included all new carpet, paint, flooring, bathroom vanity, heating system etc. Our guests have without exception enjoyed their stays with us. We have had 100% satisfaction as you can see from past guest posts. Our quests are primarily repeat visitors. We are very selective as we consider this to be our home and are quite thorough regarding upkeep. Rather than respond to the complaints from these folks, I can say that all of our visitors have been very pleased with their stays. I might add that this includes repeat guests that visited immediately following these folks!

Quiet, cozy, and comfortable for sure -and close access to the village! Perfect get away place for my active family of 5. Plenty of room to spare with all the amenities. We felt very safe just playing outside in the snow! TX to Mark for the friendly service and rental of his home.

A lovely house in a gorgeous setting. The house was nicely decorated, clean and everything worked well. We enjoyed the time spent in the house (lots of Boggle going on during the torrential rains of New Year's weekend) as well as the skiing and the area in general. A perfect getaway cabin for our family of four (with room to spare!). The property was extremely well kept with all the appliances and furnishings in excellent condition. The property is nice and quiet - truly a great place to relax. Northstar exceeded our expectations as a family ski area due to the quick free shuttle service and their abundant snow grooming capabilities. What a wonderful, cozy cabin. There was plenty of space for our family of four and having a large garage that accomodated our Suburban as well as all of our ski/snowboard gear was a real plus. The shuttle service at Northstar was excellent - door to door service from the cabin to the slopes. We would highly recommend this cabin for anyone looking for a peaceful yet conveniently located place to enjoy the snow. P.S. The view of snow covered trees from the front windows was amazing. This is a classy place run by classy people.The accommodations were wonderful—best we’ve ever found at Northstar. For that matter, we cannot recall anything anywhere else that rivals it. The house is very clean and quite well furnished. TVs proliferate, but we enjoyed even more the comfortable surroundings for conversation and cards. The owners were remarkably helpful to us. We had some unusual needs regarding time and reservations, and they were very understanding and accommodating.
