Nestled in the woods of the gated community of Nantahala Highlands, this magnificent, lakeshore, custom home has 3800 (plus or minus) square feet with 1500 plus square feet of covered deck, four and a half bathrooms, two great rooms, two fireplaces, as well as three bedrooms plus a bunkroom and loft.
The home's extensive decking gives optimum views of Lake Nantahala and the mountains from every room. A gradual terrain walkway leads to the 123 feet of shoreline, sand beach and the floating boat/swim dock. Canoes, paddles, elec. motor and life vests provided.
The natural beauty and peacefulness of the property are unsurpassed. Nantahala is an outdoorsman’s paradise with whitewater rafting, kayaking, canoeing, camping, mountain hiking, and biking. Aquone is just two and a half hours from downtown Atlanta; one hour from Highlands, North Carolina; and one and a half hours from Asheville, North Carolina.

We have stayed in rentals all over the country and this place rates as #1 in our book. The house is everything it advertises and the lake is truly magnificent. The mountains are beautiful and the fact that most of the lakefront is not developed since it is U.S. National Forest makes it even more spectacular. I really can't remember when I have seen a lake with water that clean & clear. We actually accidentally dropped a pair of prescription sunglasses off the dock and were able to look down through 10-12 feet of water to locate them on the bottom surface. It made the dive to retrieve them much easier! The interior of the house is very nicely appointed, clean and well laid out. There wasn't anything we needed that wasn't there. The kitchen was well stocked if you like to cook (which one of us does). If you rent this place make sure you get directions to the waterfall across the lake and tucked in a cove. We visited it about 6 hours after a hard rain and it was breathtaking. I can't recommend this place enough. Mary & Tim, Atlanta, GA

Our family had a great time at this beautiful mountain home. Very relaxing and very pretty place to stay. Loved that there was a small "beach" area for the little ones to play at the waters edge, which is pretty unusual at a mountain lake home such as this. We shared the home with friends of ours. Plenty of room for both familys and all the kids. We all want to come back again.
Recommended for:Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, age 55+.
