  We stayed here over New Years with our three small children. Location was perfect and close to everything -- just a two minute walk to San Marco Square. We loved watching the gondolas/boats from the windows. Kitchen had everything we needed. We hope to come again in the summer months.

  We spent 1 week in this beautiful apart last October. After a nice and kind dealing with the owner Andrea we get the reservation (confirmatory deposit 20% av. we used Paypal) and everything got in the right way. We arrived in Venice by plain and I gave a call to Mr.Roberto (Andrea's on-site colleague) as they explaned us we had to do it in order to set a meeeting point and time with the person (Alessandra, really kind and funny person) charged for our check-in. We caught Alilaguna waterbus service, Orange Line to Rialto's Bridge waterbus station and we met this person that lead us to the apart (just 2 minutes walking). Finally we got the check-in (instructions, keys, final payment) and we explored the apart. It was night yes, but at once we felt it was a special place. First, the apart was perfectly clean, well featured and fully equipped (overall the kitchen, usually really poor in for rent aparts), second it was absolutely quiet, third it allowed an absolutely charming view over one of the most beautiful venetian canals. We saw gondolas navigate also by night, it was spectacular. We spent our first night really excited by beeing in the earth of Venice Old Town and really looking for our first visit in the following morning. When we went out (after half an hour spent to look at the "panorama" from the apart's windows), we began walking taking a look on the map, trying to find out where we were... just few, really few steps and we "emerged" in Saint Mark's square! What a surprise! As we didn't see too many tourist around the apart we thought to be at least 3 -5 minutes walking from Saint Mark's square, then we where really (nicely) surprised to state we where just 200 meters from it. As the owner said us, his aparts were "in a quiet and charming, typical venetian corner, just few steps from Saint Mark's square). We can ensure, they are! Well, we had a wonderful week in Venice, we visited everywhere with no wasted time for transports and also we had the chance to quick back "home" for lunch/dinner, then restart for our sight-seeing (saving lot of money). When we decided, we had wonderful dinners in traditional venetian restaurants suggested by the owner Andrea (La Zucca was the most appreciated) Finally the perfect location, the perfect management, the stunning canal view within comfort and full equipement of this apart let us spend one of the most agreable holidays we had ever. Absolutely suggested to everybody.

  I wanted to bring my wife and my 2 daughters to Venice for our 20th Anniversary and wanted an authentic Venetian apartment to ourselves. I cannot say enough how awesome this apartment was and suited our needs perfectly. My wife who has incredibly high standards for places absolutely loved the apartment. It is close to everything, it is clean, it is great and how you cannot love it, I do not know. Furthermore its windows allow a magnificent view over a special canal (the owner explained me that not all canals are agreable and overall not in every canal gondolas navigate, they have specific ways), special because it was clean, large but not too much and overall had a continuous gondolas passage. And on price, this blows other apartments straight out of the water just on this point alone. A great place with character at a great price!! Dealing with Andrea was and is an absolute pleasure and her customer service is well beyond excellent!! We highly and I say again, highly and I say one more time, highly, recommend adding this apartment on your list of potentials.

  The location of this apartment is superb. As described, gondolas going by all day and our kids (and us too) absolutely loved it, about a 1min walk to Saint Marks square. Cafes, bars, restaurants are all around but the corner, charming and typical venetian, where the apart is located, is absoultely quiet, both during day and night. It is also well located for the practical things such as banks, markets, shops and water buses. The apartment is very spacious, clean and fully equipped. The owner was excellent to deal with and assist us, contacting the person in Venice who met us off the water bus and lead us to the apartment. All the staff was professional and friendly, we had absolutely no problems. Would stay here again without hesitation and would warmly suggest it to any person seeking for a great venetian experience.

  We can give just 5/5 to this beautiful apart. We are usual "direct owner" travellers and this is the best apart we falled on. It has the right size for our 4 people family, it is perfectly located few steps behind San Marco square, in a quiet, charming venetian corner. Absolutely quiet due to the courtyard that allow access to the building. My sons (and me too) were sleepyheads by the view from the livingroom and their bedroom windows: a secondary canal where gondolas navigated all day long. No TV for them, just the panorama. Apartment well cleaned and mantained, good beds, even better management (we lost our house keys and we received spares within 1 hour, with no additional costs). A great thank to Andrea and the management team that kindly welcome us.

  We booked Astarte apartment after reading all those lovely reviews and thinking that it would be a perfect place to stay for the three of us (parents and 16 years old daughter). We wanted to celebrate the end of my daughter's very important exams and as we both run our own busineses any time off is very special and much appreciated. Waiting in the queue to board our plane to Venice I got a message from Andrea that the toilet in Astarte is blocked and therefore apartment is unfit for use. I would think that you call your costumer in a situation like this..Instead I phoned Andrea and was assured that this is a very common situation that the toilet gets blocked and that they have an alternative accomodation for us and that we are very lucky as in the peak season finding a replacement apartment would not be possible. I was told that Roberto- a man working for him will be waiting for our call from Marco Polo airport and that he is well informed about the situation and will do his best to make sure we are satisfied...I called Roberto from Venice airport and was told that a man called Gianluca will take as to the apartment. Gianluca on the way to the apartment( he was in a rush as threre were more holidaymakers arriving that afternoon) asked us two questions: First time in Venice? and: Got a map? We said yes to both of them so he assumed his job is done. In the rubbish apartment we were given (one bedroom, very basic, no information pack whatsoever) we asked what is the story with the apartment we actually booked- Astarte- and were told that he knows nothing about tis and he is just bringing the keys for us and that it is all he can do for us. I called and send messages to Andrea- got no answer and was left with choice of staying in this awful apartment or going around the city and spending my precious time looking for a place to stay. We went on the webb and could see that Astarte apartment was showing on its booking calendar that it is actually booked untill the following morning. When I told that to Gianluca he called Roberto, Roberto called Andrea and I was called A LIAR and told that they do not update the callendar (why it was shown as booked then?) and told to feel free to leave the apartment any time! So my advice is to think twice before you book this apartment- the toilet apparently sometimes gets blocked, what you see on the booking calendar is not true, and if anything goes wrong you will not get much help.

  We would just like to say how much we enjoyed our stay in Venice. The apartment was exactly as advertised, spotlessly clean, well equipped and only a short walk from St Marcs square, Rialto bridge etc. We were met at the water bus stop at Rialto Bridge and taken the short walk to the apartment. The handover was done very professionally and we were given advice on where to eat and the best places to visit, also to buy a 3 day pass for the water bus, as this worked out very economical if visiting the islands, which were well worth a visit. Thank you again and we will be recommending your lovely apartment to all our friends. Two mature ladies.

  We recently stayed at Astarte apartment and had a wonderul time. A great little apartment in a perfect location. We were met at the Rialto Vaporetto stop and were escorted to our apartment. It took less than 10 minutes to walk to the apartment. The apartment was very clean and had all the amenities we would need for our vacation. The location was perfect to visit all the main sites in Venice and watching the gondolas float by from the living room window was such a treat. It was nice to be able to go back to the apartment in the middle of the day and take a break. We went to the grocery store and were able to stock up on breakfast and lunch foods so we were able to spend our money on dinners out. Having a list of good restaurants would be a bonus because there are so many places and hard to decide what is good and what is a tourist trap. We definitely wandered through the back alleys to find some local little places to eat. We also went to the hardrock cafe which is less than a minute from the apartment. Overall it was a great vacation and the apartment was just an added bonus! Thanks so much, look forward to visiting again.

  My husband, two teenagers, and I just returned home from a lovely trip to Rome and Venice. The Astarte apartment in Venice was perfect for us. Unlike our apartment in Rome, this apartment came stocked with ample toilet paper, bath linens, and even some basic cooking supplies (oil, vinegar, salt, pepper, etc). The apartment itself is so ideally located--it truly could not be in a more perfect location in the city. St. Mark's is a minute's walk away, the Rialto bridge just a few minutes away. The beds were comfortable--definitely on the firm side---but still loads more comfortable than the stiff mattresses we experienced in our Roman apartment. The apartment is situated in its own quiet little campo, and there are only 15 or so easy stairs to climb. But the absolute best thing about this apartment: the view of the canal from the living room and bedroom windows. The canal is used by the the gondoliers, and each afternoon we enjoyed sitting in the window, watching the gondolas pass by, the gondoliers joking with each other, and the occasional singing gondolier--their booming, beautiful voices echoing off the surrounding buildings. The apartment is well-maintained, was very clean, and we were greeted and made to feel welcome by the owner. In fact, she was the nicest local person we encountered in our 11 day trip; most Romans and Venetians act indifferent (and worse) to American visitors. The owner was a wonderful exception to this. In regards to Venice itself: my biggest tips would be to get up very early and explore the city in relative quiet (before the bulk of the tourists). And my best tip for visiting St. Mark's Cathedral: check a bag at their bag check (down a tiny street to the left of the cathedral). They check bags for free, and then proceed to give you a "front-of-the-line" pass to get in the church. Every time I passed the GIANT line out front, I wanted to shout "Go check a bag!" Also: make sure to go to the cioccolateria called VizioVirtu. Best little sweets (2 euro each) I've ever eaten. Also: head to the Rialto vegetable and fish market for eye-popping, tasty fresh ingredients to make your own simple dinner. Most meals we ate at restaurants were served up by unfriendly waiters, the food was typically either cold, salty, or just plain bland, and ultra-expensive for what you got (double the prices of Rome). One last tip: start your day early, and plan on ending it fairly early (by 10 or 11 pm). Venice shuts down earlier than Rome.

  Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

  The location of this apartment is superb. As described, gondolas going by all day which our kids absolutely loved, about a 1min walk to st marks sq, cafes, bars, restaurants etc all around but at night very quiet, also well located for the practical things such as ATM machines, supermarket and water buses. Apartment very spacious and well euipped. Owner excellent to deal with both by email and text and contact person in Venice who met us off the water bus and showed us to the apartment also professional and friendly. Would stay here again without hesitation.

  Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.
