My best friend and I spent 8 days at this lovely place. Great location - no big holiday condos; the coffee shops, arts & crafts & groceries store at the top of the hill. A lovely quiet & cruisy spot. We saw Spinner dolphins everyday (remember you're not allowed to swim with them though...) One of our favourite things to do was stroll 5-10mins to Manini Beach / Napoopoo Park and laze on the grass beneath the trees between snorkels (incredible snorkelling). Swimming featured highly in our stay. After a morning snorkel, run or kayak, indulge in a kona coffee & mango, paw-paw & passion fruit breakfast, then simply cross the lane and jump off the harbour wall for a midday cool down! Absolutely gorgeous. Also, Place of Refuge is 4miles away and is stunning at sunset. In the same location is Two Step with amazing snorkelling again. Highly recommend. The house is very comfortable with all the mod cons: coffee machine to sample the local produce, big fridge, lots of cooling fans & comfy beds. There's no big sandy beach or cocktail bars on the beach but we'd both rather stay here again.

We stayed at Carol's house between 13 and 23 of July 2012. The dolphins come to the Kealakekua Bay early in the morning. Carol's house is 1 minute walking distance to the bay. We also swam to the Captain Cook monument. Snorkelling there was a lifetime experience. Most people rent a kayak to go there which is also right across Carol's house. The good thing about her house was it didn't have an ocean view so we spent our time outside socializing with the locals, watching the fearless little ones jump into the water; very cool. The house had everything we needed even snorkelling gear and boogie boards. We wish we paid more attention for the washer and dryer before we left; we could have taken less clothing with us. Ernie and Evone manages the place and their knowladge about the area is priceless. Ernie taught our daughter how to kayak and boogie board. They were always there to help us. We missed going but we heard that the best farmer's market is very close to Carol's house. There is a grocerry store at 15 min distance but next time we go, we will go to Costco first then to Carol's place. Costco is very close to the airport. We would definetely go back.
