Year Purchased: 2008
About the owner: We discovered the Berkshires when a friend let us use her cabin one winter. We fell in love with the area and began our search for our vacation home. Once purchased, we spent every weekend here, but now that our kids are teenagers... you guessed it...we don't visit as often. Thus, we decided to share our home with exchangers and renters.
Why the Owner Chose Great Barrington: After looking at many properties I knew this was the one when in the middle of a very brown, snow-less winter, I was wowed by the grounds and view. I could only imagine what it looked like during the other three seasons and when snow would fall silently blanketing the birches, sumacs and evergreens. The fact that the home had five bedrooms meant that family and friends could treasure this place with us.
The Unique Benefits at this House: If one could build a house on the perfect campground, this would be the place. The property is idyllic given all the views from water, to the back of butternut mountain and flat lands for building snowmen, setting up a soccer field, we even carved out a perfect hilly area for a sled run for the kids. What we love most about the house is the front porch where we read, sip tea or coffee, chat with friends and/or family or just have quiet, contemplative time.
