Thank you for letting us rent your condo for 4 months. We had a great stay and met some very nice folks. The grounds and pool area were very clean and nicely landscaped. The new trees around the pool are great. Everything was close by and easy to get to from the ocean to places to eat and shop. We want to especially thank your "caretaker" George. What a great guy. He was always helpful and just fun to spend time with. We look forward to our stay next year.

First Family Vacation In Myrtle Beach

My wife,kids,and I stayed here the week of 8/28/11.The price for the unit is very good.The condo was very clean.Having small kids we cooked most of our meals in the condo.The kitchen was clean,well stocked with utensils,and in good working order.The bathrooms were spotless.I read another reviewer mentioned the smell of cigarettes.My wife and I are nonsmokers and we did not smell any hint of cigarettes.The pool area is well maintained.We were greeted by very friendly neighbors at the pool.Even made some friends.The condo is a short distance to the beach.It was very easy to get to all the attractions,Broadway at the Beach,Barefoot Landing,and amusement park.We went to dinner at Murrels Inlet and it was a short drive.The owner was very nice and easy to contact.George the caretaker was awesome and very helpful.Never stayed anywhere that you had a caretaker who made sure everything was okay at all times.Props to the owner and George.We had a great vacation,we love Myrtle Beach.We plan on coming here every year.We will be staying in this condo next year when we return.

Dreadfully Disappointed

The communication with the owner prior to the trip was excellent and the so was the rental fee. The caretaker did the best he could to accommodate our requests. But we experienced so many problems with this unit. The oven was broken and therefore unusable. The day we arrived (Saturday) we were promised that it would be fixed on Monday, but it was never fixed during our stay. This made our plan to save money by cooking for ourselves impossible. Also upsetting was the sliding glass door that didn’t lock. With the unit being on the ground floor, the lack of a lock made us feel very unsettled regarding our security in the unit. The fridge was leaking some sort of brown fluid and the front of the door was completely rusty. Upon entering the unit we were greeted with a strong cigarette odor. The caretaker brought us some Febreeze, which helped, but had I known it was a smoking unit, I would not have booked it. Also, when we first arrived in the unit there was no hand soap. I would have thought that the cleaning crew would have checked this, but George was very courteous about replenishing right away. Also, the unit was not clean. We were appalled at how dirty it was even upon arrival. When I lost an earring and looked for it under the bed I was even more disgusted! Not all of the items promised in the description were as described. The newly renovated pool deck is very nice but there was no hot tub. It was being renovated and apparently has been in that process since April. At this point it is still a hole in the ground. While the new furniture was very nice, we had planned on using the sleeper sofa that was in the description of the unit. Fortunately we were able to accommodate using the air mattress provided. But to be honest the floor was so dirty no one wanted to be close to it. In the 2nd bedroom, the bedside lamp was broken and the weird window with the shutters that is between the bedroom and the kitchen really does not allow for privacy for the occupants of that room. The screen to the porch was broken which allowed a gecko to enter the porch area. While my son was delighted it scared me. The location was very close to all the attractions of Myrtle Beach and it was not a bad drive to the beach. It is also close to the southern part of the Strand which has many interesting things to see and do. I would love to be able to say that I would rent this unit again, but I wouldn’t, nor would I recommend it.

Owner response:Larraine, I regret the fact that you found your accommodations so bad. However at no time during your stay did you ever call me, either at my home or cell number that I provided. Some/all of these issues could have been corrected had you done so. The oven door handle, damaged/not reported by a previous guest, has been repaired. It required (1) screw, and the repairman assured me that the oven & stovetop were usable and he sees no reason that a person could not cook on it. He also reports that the sliding patio door lock was loose but in working order. The repairman also pointed out that there is a security bar (common practice for anyone that has a sliding patio door) to place on the inside track to secure the door as well. The refrigerator, an older model, has rusted due to the humidity of the Carolina’s however it keeps food cold and fresh. Over the last year we have updated the things that make for a comfortable vacation. New bedding, furniture, Blue Ray player, HD television, etc… The refrigerator just hasn’t been gotten around to yet. As for cigarette smoke, my listing clearly states that smoking is only permitted on the outdoor patio. I have had the cleaner place air freshener under the kitchen sink for future issues. The hot tub is the only part of pool area not complete yet. It was supposed to be done by summer, however the pool and furniture are all new with a new childproof gate. The lamp in the middle bedroom has a broken switch & has been taken out of service until a new one can be purchased, however the ceiling fan in the room has a light on it providing ample light to the room. I am at a loss regarding the complaint of the “broken” screen door. It is a screen door on an outdoor, screened patio, in a wooded area. A Gecko (as seen on Geico commercials) is a harmless lizard that usually runs if you even look at them. I have sat on that patio with gecko’s and tree frogs on many occasions. Once I even saw an ant out there… I feel silly writing this long explanation to all of your complaints, but it seems that you spent what should have been a relaxing vacation walking around my unit with a notepad and pen looking for defects. I am surprised you had time to even find the beach let alone the Grand Strand. My wife and I try very hard to keep the unit updated, and the cleaning service has always been reliable at keeping the unit clean, I guess you just can’t please everyone.

My family and I had a wonderful vacation! The condo was perfect. It was close enough to all of the attractions in Myrtle Beach, Surfside, Garden City, but yet far enough out to where you miss a lot of the traffic and crowds. The condo was very clean and the new living room furniture, big screen tv, and new patio doors were very nice! We only went to the ocean once because it was so awesome just walking out the screened in patio to the pool. The owners, caretakers, and other condo unit owners were very nice and helpful. I will go back and stay there again next year if not before! I would definitely recommend this to anyone wanting a wonderful vacation!

Just wanted to let you know that we really enjoyed our stay at Surfside. The condo had everything we needed and was very well kept. We feel we were very lucky to find a place that was so reasonably priced. I hope we can stay again some time soon. I would highly recommend your condo to friends, family or whoever!

Our vacation was awesome! We loved the condo so much we didn't want to leave. The owner was extremely nice and easy to deal with. The caretaker of the condo was also extremely nice and easy to deal with. The condo was clean and neatly kept. The condo had everything we needed even down to the paper towels. We would recommend this condo for anyone wanting to have a great vacation at the beach. It is very close to all the attractions. We will be staying here again on our next vacation.

I would recommend this condo for any family that want a home away from home vacation it was wonderful having the pool right outside the door. The condo was clean, rooms were just the right size for my stay I will be staying again next year for sure. I told all my family about the place and Iam syre they will using it to. We really enjoyed the condo, it was just the right size, and loved having the pool right out side the door, and it was never over packed. It was will supplied, and clean. Very close to everything. We take a large family vacation every year & this was the first year we had rented w/out using a real estate agency, so I was a bit apprehensive. No need to be. We found this condo to be clean, updated, comfortable, nicely furnished, in a very quiet, relaxing setting. The pond is very close. Daily we would feed the turtles. We also found the pool and hot tub to be clean & well maintained. Just minutes to the beach, but yet privacy & quietness. If we travel to this area again, we will definitely consider this condo again.

This was my second year vacationing in South Carolina in the Surfside Beach area. I found the accommendation of the condo very comfortable. It has all the comfort of home with the luxury of feeling pampered. The setting is very relaxed and quiet. There a small pond where the fish, frogs and turtles swim, the lawns are manercures, the pool and the jacuzzi are maintain daily. I highly recommend this vacation sight to a couple for a quiet get away or for a family vacation. I am looking forward to spending another vacation at Surfside Beach South Carolina
