We (have a 3 yr old) rented out this property for a 3 day weekend in mid September. The most amazing thing about this place is definitely the views - they are breathtaking and what's better..you can enjoy these panoramic views from EVERY room, even while cooking! The ocean is literally in your backyard. We just tried to drink in the views the whole time we were there! We loved lazying around in the hot tub looking out into the beautiful blue vista. There is a stairway leading down to a lovely beach cove just a couple of houses down the road. Now for some of the cons, the place does require a little attention. The oven was quite antiquated and started emitting smoke when we tried to use it for our texas toast. The stove top and microwave seemed to work alright. We did have to get some help to turn on the fridge after we arrived (not sure why it wasn't already switched on). Also, the toilet in the living area had a couple of cigarette stubs in it when we arrived (eek!). We made it out of the house only to get supplies (Safeway) and grab lunch at Fort Bragg. You may want to check the hours of the restaurants in Fort Bragg, we tried to grab lunch on Sunday (albeit a little late) and really wanted to try a local place but ended up eating at Denny's as most of the other places were closed. Glass beach is right there down the road from Denny's - it was worth a stroll. Some of the other attractions nearby include the Mendocino botanical gardens - again a decent place with some great ocean bluffs. Mendocino village has a few quaint shops and some restaurant options. Point Cabrillo light station also has some great ocean views and is quite close by to the Mendocino village. Overall we had a really relaxing weekend and would come back and stay here just for the amazing views!!

Most amazing view!!!
Most amazing view!!!
My husband and I stayed at Ocean Mystique with our dog for a few days. The house itself could use a scrub down and a bit of refreshing so if you are someone who must have an immaculate interior this might not be the place for you. That being said, all the stuff that matters was great. The bed was firm, the couches were comfy, and the yard was perfect. There is a charcoal grill out back so bring some coals because the little store up the block really marks them up! The view is amazing and the ocean is right there. You can walk to the end of the block and find a stair way leading down to a tide pool filled beach. We spent all of our time in the backyard staring at the ocean and the waves on the rocks. The neighbors to the left are blocked by a thick tree line and to the right it is pretty open which gives a great view up the coast but had the house next door been rented we would have not had much privacy. There are a few cons though: the showers are teeny so if you are big or need to shave your legs, good luck. The stove is electric which I am not used to so some stuff got burned. Overall though, who cares? The location is so perfect. The upstairs bedroom has the same amazing view as downstairs, the house is designed so that you are always looking out onto the sea. Completely relaxing. The hot tub was hot when we got there and we were able to tether our dog to the deck so we did not have to stress about him running off. It is fenced in the front but the fencing does not continue on ocean side so the view is unobstructed but I would not trust my dog not to follow some little critter over to the neighbors yard. Oh and lastly, there is pretty much nothing in Westport so make sure you stock up in Fort Bragg. The little general store did seem to be open from 7-7 in case you need emergency charcoal or coffee.

Just right for us!
Just right for us!
My husband and I and two chihuahuas absolutely loved this rental!! The house is simple but a great value for the area. The view is incredible and always changing. We didn't know what to expect as far as the yard for the dogs so we brought a wire dog enclosure which we put across the only space in the back where they could get into the neighbor's yard. They LOVED that yard which lets them roam in front and back. We had a great time. One night we sat in the hot tub with the moon shinning over the ocean and the meteor shower over us!!! Things that are nice to know are that you are in a quiet tiny beach community 17 miles north of Fort Bragg. There is a great little community store right around the corner that makes good sandwiches and pizza and has some basics if needed. We got sandwiches a couple of times and took a picnic to the beach. We both have issues with bad knees and all, but there is a huge stair way to the beach close by and just down the road south a dirt road to another very accessible beach. We went into Fort Bragg one day and we highly recommend the Botanical Gardens which are dog friendly. And do eat breakfast at Eggheads! We want to go back soon to this sweet rental!

Exceptionally wonderful house!
Exceptionally wonderful house!
Pictures don't do this house any justice. It is a very cozy, clean and well equipped place. The house itself is located on a small (and quiet) street in a small (and friendly) town. Only a few minutes walk to the beach and a local store. Also, some nice hiking trails in the mountains not far from the house. Our dog enjoyed a nice big backyard, and we found a hot tub and a gas fireplace a nice romantic touch. We will definitely be coming back here.
