We have an 800 square foot 'lock off' apartment on the first floor of our Estate Home. Share breathtaking views from the second floor 1100 square foot wraparound porch overlooking a manicured park like setting. Join a multitude of birds and squirrels who also share the front porch providing endless entertainment for nature lovers. Move to the back porch to cook out on the gas grill or sit in the hot tub and watch the herons, hawks and the occasional eagle fly through the 2 acre back yard complete with a bass pond which is sought out by the local otters from time to time. Cigar aficionados will love these covered spaces and views to relax by. Plenty of room for your boat or RV.
The property is covered with numerous palms, pine, oak and moss covered cypress trees, to name just a few, providing the perfect backdrop to beautiful sunsets. The Six Mile Cypress Slough is a few minutes walk from the house.
The first bedroom is nicely furnished with a Dual Control Sleep Number Queen bed, dresser, DVD player and a view of the fountain in the Florida Room.
The second bedroom is set up as a comfortable sitting room complete with a leather rocker/recliner, sitting chair, day bed and a 32 inch flat screen TV equipped with High Definition Century Link Prism which also provides high speed internet.
The efficiency kitchen is admittedly small but has an 18 cubic foot refrigerator/freezer, microwave, sink and a small oven with two burners. Sorry, but there is no dishwasher. Baby boomers should still remember how to wash dishes by hand.
The laundry room is shared with the owner and has a Duet front loading washer and dryer as well as a closet for pantry items, etc. There is one full bathroom with a shower/tub.
The Florida room features a wall of glass windows overlooking the gorgeous front yard. The circular dining table/chairs and two rockers take full advantage of the views and sounds emanating from the water fountain surrounded by plants...a calming atmosphere.

Accommodations were excellent and Dan, Paula as well as scooter did everything possible to make us welcome and have an enjoyable stay. Property is as described and tranquil place to get away from it all. Close to stores and activities as well as beaches. We would recommend this to our friendsRecommended for: Age 55+, pet owners.

We found the property and apartment to be just as we saw them in the photos. The grounds were just lovely and wonderfully landscaped. There were chairs down by a pond where we sat and read and it was very relaxing. The apartment was very clean and roomy and the bed was very comfortable. We are avid birdwatchers and we found this rental to be very accessible to many of the locations we went to explore. The owners were very friendly and informational. We would most certainly stay there again.Recommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway, sightseeing, pet owners, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

My husband and I stayed here for two months. This was a great little place and suited our needs quite comfortably. We are both computer power users and the WiFi never failed us. The place was clean and tastefully decorated, none of this tacky pink flamingo stuff. We loved the location and setting off the beaten path, yet close enough to all amenities and a short drive to the beaches. I would give this a higher rating if the property had a full kitchen, however, with a little ingenuity and creativity, we conquered this small inconvenience quite well. I made jambalaya and a full roast beef dinner in the slow cooker! You’ll never meet two nicer and sincere people than Dan and Paula. We have actually rebooked for a visit next year!Recommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway, sightseeing, pet owners, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

About the owner: Paula and I have always loved two story Key West Style homes with their wraparound porches but didn't want to move to the Islands where they are prevalent. We finally found this beautiful 2.5 acres in 1993 and knew it would be perfect for our dream home. We completed the home the following year and as our children are grown and gone, would like to share it's beauty with others.

We love to sit on the second story porches and visit with friends, swapping jokes and stories. As we have lived in Fort Myers since 1979, coming from Indiana, we can offer insights to the Gold Coast of Florida. My best friend calls our home, Shangra La, for good reason. We are also Dog lovers and welcome any visitor with canines under 25 pounds.
