Your Private Retreat on the Beach at Paradise Cove

Give yourself the gift of staying in one of the most beautiful locations in the world. The Paradise Cove House is set on its own secluded beach at Paradise Cove with breathtaking views of Rainbow Glacier and the snowcapped peaks of the Chilkat mountain range. Would you like to get away from the incessant chatter and demands of the 'outside' world? Here's a place where there is silence and peace.
The charming, rustic house is sided with hand-split cedar shakes. Inside, it is spacious and sunny. The open plan downstairs in the main house allows for a pleasant flow of spaces. It has a fully equipped kitchen and a dining room with an amazing view.
A special feature of the house is that as well as the main house there is the attached south wing annex with its light-filled sunroom. The main house and annex allow for separation for two parties or two families who are sharing the rental.
The main house and the annex each have their own new bathroom. The annex bathroom offers a shower. The main house bathroom provides both a shower and a tub.
In the main house there is a queen bed in the master bedroom. The smaller back bedroom has both a queen bed and a single bed.
In the annex there is a queen bed in the bedroom upstairs. Both the main house master bedroom and the annex bedroom have spectacular views.
This is an older Alaskan family house that is comfortable and well-heated, and offers all the amenities you need for an enjoyable stay. We are upgrading the house and its amenities each year.
This season the main house and annex each have a brand new bathroom. New, comfortable queen-sized beds have been installed. Wireless internet service is now available to our guests, and a new, large Weber charcoal grill is now provided for guests to prepare outdoor meals on the lawn overlooking the fjord.
The primary attraction of the house is its location on a beach many locals think is the most beautiful in the Haines area.
You can launch your sea kayak right in front of the house and paddle out to Kochu Island or down the peninsula to Chilkat Islands Marine Park.
Just over 6 miles from downtown Haines, Alaska, the Paradise Cove House is a five minute drive from the Chilkat State Park which has some of the best hiking trails in the area as well as a boat launch ramp.
Children are welcome at the Paradise Cove House. Sorry, but we can't accommodate pets.
To find the dates the Paradise Cove house is available that best work with your plans, please look at the calendar. It is updated regularly.

This property has probably one of the best views in North America. We were lucky to see a Moose and her baby come to the property every day. I would strongly recommend this property. You can enjoy the sight of hundreds of eagles between Miles 19-22 in Haines Highway. You can see grizzlies in the Chilkoot park.Amazing views all around. We would certainly be back.Recommended for: Sightseeing, romantic getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers.

My husband and I decided we needed a weekend away that would not be to pricey and have lots of space for us and our 10 month old daughter. We found Paradise Cove on the internet and it was perfect. The house is rustic with lots of charm and in the most beautiful place. The view of the mountains and Rainbow glacier are awsome! My husband was thrilled that there was a telescope and binoculars in the house. The house affored lots of space with the 3 bedrooms and our daughter loved picking leaves off the front lawn and rocks by the water. We had a great time and plan to go back again and look forward to the shower working as I am not really a bath person unless I can soak in it with a good book!!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers.

We just stayed at Paradise Cove and it was great. We were able to launch our kayaks from the beach. The gardens are beautiful and the view of Rainbow glacier is amazing. We were there with my parents and it was perfect for the 4 of us and it could comfortably sleep 6. Quirky house in some regards but that is the charm of it with neat old furniture and cool little nooks to hang out in. Only thing it needs is a bbq to cook our fish on and a shower (only a tub right now) but I understand those things are on their way Would highly recommend it. Plan to stay there again soon. Would be great for a group of people.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers.
Owner response: You'll be pleased to know that we're remodeling this winter and next rental season the house will have two new bathrooms, both with showers and one with a tub as well. One will be accessed from the annex, and one from the main house. There will also be a barbecue. Thanks for your comments and suggestions. We will continue to be as responsive to our guests as possible, and do all we can to ensure your comfort.

My husband, our 1-1/2 year old daughter and I had a completely glorious 3 night stay here in July 2012. We planned our stay as breather in the middle of a long trip; instead, the Paradise Cove house stands as one of the highlights. In the future, it will be our destination. The house is a beautiful and well-built family home. Most windows are oriented toward close views of the ocean canal, a hanging glacier, and a huge waterfall. The bedrooms and bathroom are large, with tons of storage space. The kitchen has lots of counter space : looking out from the kitchen there is solid ocean and mountains, as there is with nearly every other room. We loved experiencing such a tremendous amount of natural beauty in one place-- ocean, mountains, waterfalls, wildlife. The house would be perfect for 2 small families since there is a separate bedroom and living room from the main area. The best part, for us, was the yard and outdoor access. This is is a very special opportunity to experience nature in the Haines area. Our little daughter loved running around out in the huge backyard grassy area. We sang around the beachside fire pit, met kind neighbors, saw eagles feeding on the rocks, and did some amateur fishing. So beautiful!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

We stayed at the Paradise Cove House in late June, early July. It was perfect - very well appointed, very well represented on the website - what you see is what you get. The house is in a very private location, very peaceful setting. It is definitely rustic, but everything you need and more is available. A huge, wonderful collection of books as well. We definitely will be staying there again.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, age 55+, sightseeing, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children, adventure seekers.

Owner info
About the owner: Your hosts live on Paradise Cove a few minutes' walk from the Paradise Cove House. We enjoy the outdoor recreational opportunities available here. This is our home base, but we travel widely to both remote rural places and bustling, cosmopolitan cities. We like gaining the perspective travel gives us on our home and our way of living.
Why the Owner Chose Haines:
The Paradise Cove House was built by the current owner's family, and he grew up there. The family hand-split the thick cedar shakes that protect the outside of the house and give it such special character. The flower and vegetable gardens were carved out of the wilderness soil and are still thriving. Together, the family planted the orchards of cherry, plum and apple trees that produce delicious fruit each year.
This house has a tradition of being a welcoming place, where friends and neighbors could always find a cup of coffee and a piece of pie.
Now we continue that tradition of Alaskan hospitality by welcoming to this warm and happy home the visitors who come to enjoy the marvelous scenery and activities this area has to offer.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
The Paradise Cove House harks back to a simpler, and some would say a better, time. The house provides guests more than a homey and comfortable place to stay. It offers the opportunity to experience an Alaskan lifestyle. You can watch a DVD on the house's television set, but there is no television programming available. The TV is couched in a cabinet and doesn't dominate the living space. The well-stocked bookshelves offer an eclectic variety of reading material. The spotting scope and binoculars provided invite you to notice the wildlife outside your windows.
We offer you an experience that is unique in today's world, the qualities we value most about this lifestyle: connection with a place of incomparable natural beauty; connection with each other; connection with yourself. Serenity.
You can relax indoors or laze on the lawn or beach. You can pursue any of a wide variety of outdoor activities. And whatever you do it will be real, you will do it yourself or with the person (people) you've chosen to share this experience.
Because of the delightful, authentic lifestyle this place offers, you will remember your time at the Paradise Cove House as we do: fondly, and perhaps forever.
