My husband, myself and my in law's all stayed in this beautiful home for my birthday weekend and had a blast! The weather wasn't that great but we did get to enjoy the fire pit some on Friday night. The hot tub was great and the views were unbelieveable. We hope to return again in the summer for tubing/kayaking. The Loomis' are wonderful hosts who had a very well stocked home, so all we had to do was bring ourselves and some food and relax. Thanks again Nancy!!
Owner response:Sorry you had a great time despite the bad weather that came this weekend. Hope to see you again this summer, Nancy

We came from Texas to visit family and had a wonderful time! The Garden Cottage was beautifully decorated and extremely clean! Very comfortable beds, fully furnished kitchen, and much more! The beautiful summer night sounds were amazing and very peaceful! Nancy and Robert were amazing hosts...they truly were so hospitable and very helpful with anything we needed! Robert even came and picked us up after kayaking on the river! The porch was my refuge....so enjoyed quiet time each morning and relaxing in the hammock! We are planning on returning again next summer...cannot wait!
Owner response:We are so glad you enjoyed yourselves and look forward to seeing you next summer, Nancy and Rob

We just spent five days at the garden cottage. My husband and I came from Texas and our son, daughter-in-law and nearly two year old grandson joined us from Athens Georgia. The house is absolutely lovely and spotlessly clean. The size and arrangement works beautifully for a group. We had day guests and still loads of room to spread out. The tubing was lots of fun and the guys loved the rope swing. Took them all back to their youths!!! There is so much to do around the cottage and if you feel like short drives there are so many great sight-seeing opportunities within just a few miles.

Our family was looking for a place on the river to relax and have some family time. We found just that and more! The place looked even better than the pictures. Everything was clean and immaculate when we arrived. The property around the house was well maintained, and I can't think of anything that was not provided for us. The river was easily accessible from the back yard. We went swimming and tubing everyday. Tubes and kayaks were provided there at the house for our enjoyment. There was a great big flat rock in the river behind the house for soaking up the sun or just taking a rest. There were lots of great swimming places in the river too. The outside shower was great for coming in after a day on the river and washing the sand off before going into the house for a hot shower in the bathroom. The fire pit was great. We built a fire and roasted marshmallows with our daughter and her friend. The covered porches (upper and lower level) were wonderful for relaxing in the evening. There was plenty of seating out there . . . couches, chairs, tables. My daughter (12) and her friend (11) sure enjoyed the hammock on the porch. We all had a great time in the hot tub too. We made good use of it everyday. I don't think I've been away from home and slept as good as I did in the featherbed. I just can't say enough about our stay. It was so relaxing and lots of fun for the kids too. The owner was very accommodating. She was just down the road and just a phone call away if we needed anything. We felt very comfortable contacting her. She was great! We definitely plan on visiting again and doing the three-hour tube run. What a wonderful place to spend with friends and family. Making memories is what it's all about, and this place was a memory maker. We loved it!

Last spring, my husband, lab, and I visited this rental. We had the most amazing experience. The fishing was good, we learned our to kayak, and our dog was in bliss with the large backyard for her to play in and the water to swim in. We have stayed in several cottages over the years trying to find the best one, and this is it!! It is close to Helen, but far enough away to feel away. Also, the river is large!! It is not a trickle like some places have when they state they have river views. This is the real deal. It is more than worth the money as we still talk about this trip all the time. It is large enough to rent with a couple and not step on each other too. I highly recommend this rental. Not to mention, Nancy and her husband are more than accomodating and friendly. The best trout fishing trip is with these guys!

Upon arrival, we were greeted by Yonah the friendly young dog, Check in was quick and easy and Robert was very helpful on the area. When we arrived at the Garden Cottage and walked on to the deck you could smell the fresh air and hear the river running over the rocks below. I took a deep breath and sighed. Entering the cottage, the same effect..Awe. It is so pretty, fresh clean smell and pine boards on the floors and walls It was so calming to me everything is decorated so nice and not too much. The view from the front facing the river is so beautiful. I loved the screened- in deck on the Livingroom level, we had our breakfast there and lunches. The hot tub was clean and ready. The sititng areas were perfect for the family to relax and drink hot cider and feel the cool breeze coming off the river. It is a Very private setting. Later on the Bedroom level there is another deck with doors in both bedrooms facing the river. there are sitting areas there and a comfy hammock that was almost impossible to get my husband out of to come inside. But when he did...Feather bed.... Awsome!!... Sank in to heaven, I don't think we even moved until the next morning. We had so much fun on the river, tubing, wading, sitting on the rocks with the water running over us. Kyaking, Pickle our Dauchound was the first mate on the Kyak and in the tubes. No fear there! The fire pit was perfect on Saturday night after we came back from Helen. Just sitting, talking and roasting marshmellows. Frank and Kyle fished Sunday and caught our Trout dinner. The girls and I went to Sunburst stables for a 2 hour trail ride, Folks that's no ordinary trail ride. It was great, up and down the mountain and through the woods,so much fun. The rope swing between Nana's and the Garden Cottage is great. Kyle was the only one brave enough to do it. But we all had such a good time laughing at him and his fearless silly self. The Garden Cottage is a really beautiful place and we all enjoyed it so much. We needed this to relax and get away. I plan on coming back for either one of these rentals:Garden Cottage or Nana's cottage. It was better than a resort with all the comforts of a beautiful upscale farm home. Thanks Nancy and Robert for sharing your cottage with us. PS: Your personal Home's garden is Beautiful. Thanks for letting us hang out in your back yard and fish & Play.

We recently stayed in the cottage over the July 4th weekend. We had a great time, it is in a perfect location. We were able to tube right out of our back door. The guys fished with the kids as well. It was not crowded, we were able to tube with the smaller kids without any problems. She has everything you need there, just bring food. We Were planning on going into Helen for fireworks, but were enjoying ourselves so much, we opted not too.

The Garden Cottage is the perfect "Chill out" vacation house. Very professionaly setup ,from the Hot tub to the Feather Beds. This was the cleanest rental we have ever stayed at. Conveniently located to town with easy roads down to the cottage. Would have rated it a 5 but fishing off the property was limited. The water was perfect and the big flat rock was awesome.Nancy has done a great job making the cottage a cozy place to stay.

My husband and I stayed at the Garden Cottage in April 2009. We had a wonderful long weekend with lazy mornings relaxing on the comfy red couch on the deck outside the master bedroom. One afternoon we went kayaking down the Chattahoochee which we were able to access from the back of the property. Nancy supplied the kayaks which was a huge perk. No crowds and no stinky bus ride! Evenings we spent grilling out, roasting s'mores at the fire pit or just hanging out in the hot tub. Nancy has supplied the cabin with everything you can think of or should I say everything you might forget! In addition, I purposely did not mention to my husband that she allowed animals because he might have been reluctant to rent due to his sensitivity to such odors. He never even knew and was very surprised to find out that she allowed pets! This place is so immaculate and homey the only thing you'll have to worry about is making yourself leave! One other thing I want to point out is that while other places may "say" they're cheaper once they add in all of the other fees they're not. None of them can compare to the Garden Cottage for cleanliness, privacy and amenities. We are already planning a return trip with our family! Thanks for everything Nancy, see you soon! This romantic get away is unbelievably relaxing. It has every amenity one could ask for and has a relaxing presence that makes you feel like your at a home on its on little island. This place will forever hold a special place in my heart, because it is the location that I chose to propose to my fiance. I am truly glad I did choose this location, because there is fun not far away if you want to get out of the house or if you want to stay in the house it has everything to maintain a fun, tranquil, and romantic time.

We enjoyed our Valentine's weekend at the Garden Cottage. We had a wonderful time, and our 4 year old daughter fell in love with the hot tub. She made us get in at least 3 times each day (I think she would have slept in it.) My only regret was that it wasn't cold enough to snow or warm enough to swim in the beautiful river in the back yard. I would recommend this cottage to anyone wanting a quiet, relaxing getaway. My husband enjoyed watching racing all weekend on the Speed channel, and I was thankful for the wireless internet since my verizon wireless wasn't getting a signal. Beautiful farmhouse and countryside in the secluded woods of N GA.

Our stay at the “Garden Cottage” is one that we will never forget. The cottage was so beautiful, the pictures online are good, but when we walked through the door it took our breath away because it was so much more than what we expected. We loved the seclusion of the property and the stream so close by, even though it was to cold to swim. However, it was cold enough light the fireplaces at night which made it even more relaxing and cozy. The two large porches were great for sitting while having morning coffee or relaxing in the hammock during the afternoon. Nancy was very kind and when she learned that our main purpose for the trip was to be married, she offered her garden for our ceremony! She also gave us great recommendations for local restaurants where we got a bit of a history lesson about the area form one of the friendly patrons. Our two dogs immediately made friends with Yonah, Nancy’s dog, and he kept them entertained the entire weekend! I believe they were just as sad to leave as we were. This trip was one of the best that we have had. We highly recommend staying at this property and plan on coming back very soon! Nancy, thank you for everything!! Chris & Brooke Hicks, Chevy & Gabriel

We were two couples staying the first week in May '08. This was one of the most peaceful and comfortable places we ever stayed. We were all on the backporch the second night and a hugh deer walked within 20 feet of the back steps. Not only peaceful but very clean and beautiful. We will be back!

Nancy, we had a great time. You were extremely professional throughout the entire process. You thought of everything to make our stay very relaxing and comfortable...even with a little one. We will absolutely be back for many more vacations. We grilled out, sat around the camp fire by the river, fished, played ball outside with the kids, relaxed in the hot tub and slept perfectly in your luxurious cottage. We have never slept so good away from home. PS. I love your taste. You have me wanting to redecorate my house. Be blessed!!

We just arrived back home on Sunday, Oct. 14 from staying in the garden cottage on the river for 4 days. It was wonderful! Everything was so nicely arranged and nothing left to want. The beds were very comfortable and the porches were great for relaxing. The cottage was very convenient for traveling to areas of interest--Dahlonega, Helen, Cleveland, Dillard, etc. We hope to return in July for a whole week. Thanks to Nancy for being so gracious and welcoming to her property. Connie and Caly

Our 4 day stay at the Cottage was wonderful; we are already making plans to return. My boys and I spent a lot of time on the river (tubing, kayaking, rope swing, etc.)and my wife spent her time enjoying the peace and quiet on the porch of the Cottage. The pictures on the internet don't do it justice; it is truly a beautiful home. Nancy has thought of everything. Highly recommended!

As I told Nancy, I am in a nutshell very hard to please so when I say that the Garden Cottage is PERFECT it is my highest praise. It is charming and very well appointed, they have thought of your every comfort. We never once thought, "if only they had this, or if only they had that" ...it had it all! If you go you absolutely must go tubing, it was one of the highlights of our trips-we had a blast! The Garden Cottage is exactly as advertised and more-you will not be disappointed. I've stayed in lots of houses in NC and GA, often they are musty and stingily supplied - this house is NOTHING LIKE THAT! The house is as nice or nicer than described. Snuggly beds, the whole house is nicely decorated and well supplied, nice hot tub and everyting is clean beyond clean. There is lots of seating on the porches - if you were stuck inside for some reason- you might have to bring a little seating into the living room if there is more than 4 of you. But sitting on the porches with a down throw tucked around you is perfect too. In the summer I bet the deep pool is perfect for swimming, and in front of the owners property a few yards away is a really nice spot for flyfishing (which is good year round). I recommend this property very highly!
Owner response:Thank you Cathi for your kind comments. We have sofa,2 chairs and now a rocker in the living room.
