This home was one of the largest and nicest in the "Village". House is in a small cluster of little houses in a remote area near the Lightfoot area. We stayed here during the week and few other people were around so it was pretty peaceful and private. The house is roomy with comfortable furniture (including the beds, so important!) , clean, homey and nicely decorated. The provided golf cart is perfect for hauling your stuff down to the lake, terrain is hilly and wooded but they have a great trail for the carts that lets you get within a few steps of the dock. Shared dock, but we really didn't see many other people around during our 4 day stay. Enjoyed fishing, swimming, and paddling around there. This is a fun house! We were unable to use the balcony or picnic table, but enjoyed the nice new hot tub in the evenings. Upstairs in the bunk room we played pool and a little mini golf, and downstairs in the game room we had nightly all ages air hockey tournaments. Nice tv in the tv room with local channels only but we experienced some signal loss issues. Other issues we had were with portable ac units - but we started our trip during extreme heat, 106 when we arrived. The nearest wifi hotspot was more than 30 minutes away, kind of unexpected. We brought groceries and cooked most of our meals here during our 4 day stay and found the kitchen a little light on some supplies. However, this is the first season of renting for the owners and they have been making changes and so forth as they go along as they are receptive to feedback. We increased the comfort level of the yard by bringing our own screen room and little garden shower which worked out well. And our favorite folding chairs. Just watch small children around the back step area, kind of rough, I think that is being worked on. On the other hand, the bed linens, quilts, towels etc. were plentiful and very very nice. Excellent collection of life vests for renters to choose from as well as some great tubes and blow-ups. Didn't get to try the kayaks, but they are available too. We were an extended family of 6 on this trip, single bathroom worked out fine. Dining table kind of small though. All in all this is a good place that may eventually be really great. This place is best for relaxing stay in one spot type of vacations. Just bring some groceries, sunscreen and bait and you will be set! Well, the yardguard spray in the evenings was good also.Recommended for: Families with young children, pet owners, romantic getaway, tourists without a car, age 55+.

Owner info
Year Purchased: 2008
About the owner: We are the Shope family from Kansas City and we completed building this wonderful A-Frame in 2008. It was always our dream to have an A-Framed cabin at the lake and have spent thousands of hours here enjoying The Lake of the Potato! We think you will also love this quiet peaceful first tier lake property.
Why the Owner Chose Pomme De Terre Lake:
We spent 5 years with a camper at Goody's Resort and loved it so much that we wanted to find some land and build here. We stumbled upon this land by accident and got to know the owner who lived right across the street very well. He didn't want to sell us the nearly 3/4 acre lot but agreed to if we used him as the builder. We were in no rush so we slowly built the home over a two year period making sure the house was done just the way we wanted it. In September of 2008 we moved into the 1400 square foot, 4-level home. Since, we've added two decks and a hot tub as well as purchased a private dock and slip specific for this home. It's been an amazing getaway for our entire family and close friends.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
This home is just as amazing on the inside as the out with a large A shaped living room with large windows, and a surprise loft in the master bedroom that over looks our cove. Each season offers a different look from the loft window. There is also a walk out balcony just off the master bedroom for morning coffee or a sunset book read. The 'Bunk' room is very spacious with 6 beds and a large pool table, as well as several inside miniature golf holes built by my father and a rustic pool table in the middle of the room. The home has a large basement and TV room as well as a game and washroom. The two-car garage has room for both golf carts, all the boat supplies, two kayaks, and room to spare for your car.
